What a nice park location with a one mile trail and surrounded by beautiful mountains and the nearby Camarillo ranch property. There is a dog park area and plenty of room for kids to play and playground equipment. Watch out for rattlesnakes as signs are posted all over the park. Highly recommended read more

Such a beautiful park! A hidden gem off Camarillo Springs!! They have dog park areas (large dog/small dog) but sadly all dirt! We did not bring our dog inside the gated area for that reason. But there's plenty of grass around the park. This place is so pretty! They offer many picnic areas, some covered, with lots of tables and BBQs. Beautiful trees, clean bathrooms and newer play equipment for children! Very quiet and secluded... read more

Camarillo Grove Park - Hiking Near Me - Camarillo, California

This feels like your own little tucked away park with cows and horses. A nice little secret hideaway to take the dog and kids to when life gets too hectic. Don't like that there is gated presence sometimes asking you to pay -- but most times it is a pleasure. read more

Love this park. Multiple trails. They have plaques along the way that describe the history and native wildlife. The park is great for kids. read more

What a hidden gem. This is more than a park it houses a nature center, dog park, hands on learning for kids, hiking trails and more! We spent a morning hiking, playing on the playground, and enjoying all the hands-on educational exhibits. You can even hear goats and see livestock near one of the hiking trails! The park is nice for toddlers and families. There is an entrance fee of $3 on weekdays and $5 on weekends (bring cash). You can also buy a year pass for $55. After our visit today, I think we will invest in a year pass, so worth it. Can't wait to return. read more

Beautiful, relaxing area. A good area to go walking, hiking and bring your dog. One of my favorite places to take my dog too.

Such a cute little park, my dogs absolutely loved it! There wasn't a bunch of other pets when we came but they still loved and enjoyed the space. Recommend for a peaceful afternoon! read more

I really disgusting incident took place here involving the front desk man named Doug. When I tried to call the park service to report what happened the man who answered used slurs and told me to just not go back. WARNING NOT SAFE FOR KIDS! read more

Camarillo has an abundance of beautiful parks and Camarillo Grove Park is definitely one of them. Dogs can run off-lease Monday-Friday and if you need an enclosed area for your pup, the large dog fenced in area is great with lots of shade from the live oaks, but all dirt. The small dog enclosed area doesn't have the shade that the large dog area has but it works for small dogs. The park is full of picnic tables, has trash cans throughout although the cans don't have lids and often trash is spread around, has 2 separate restroom buildings that are kept clean, a nice playground area and large areas for large parties. If you haven't gone yet, check it out you'll thank me. read more

Great place to let your dog off leash and have fun. People who actually come here are lay back, courteous and welcoming, unlike most owners who prefer other dog parks in Ventura county. The park has been closed due to the Hill fire (Nov 2018). The park staffs are normally nice, but they really have to put their act up to get this park reopened. People are complaining about fees, why complain? The fee goes directly to the park where you get free poop bags and well-maintained grounds. I do not understand why most people think it has to be free for all? It is actually free after 5pm for weekdays after the park staffs are gone. We are having our finger crossed for the park to be reopened. read more

I really was enjoying this park until the Forest Ranger came over and told me to leave because he was "closing up" even though the sun had not set! Think it was around 7:20pm or so - I was the only one there and had my dogs with me, along with a couple more that I was walking for a friend, since she just had a stroke and needed help with them. He told me he would allow it this time, but no one should be there with more than 3 dogs?!? Really?!?! Never saw any signs and all my dogs are REALLY well behaved and NO ONE else was in the park! Really?!?! Kind of ruined my early evening and I felt like I had to rush everyone into my car and hurry out-- for what reason?!? So he could close up early?? Too bad, because other than that, it really is a nice little park! read more

I feel a little bad reviewing this park since I don't have a dog. And it is a dog park. I heard about a trail here so, I tried to go hiking here the other day. It was disappointing. There is an unmarked trail to the top of a hill where you can see the freeway, cows, and the horse ranch next door. Getting to the top took me about 10 minutes. It was entirely disappointing. I'm sure this is a great dog park. But don't waste your time hiking here. read more

It was closed during presidents week which is hard when you want to go play but the park is well maintained with nice people

Dog-friendly park with a half-court basketball, two benches, a playground, and a grassy play area. It overlooks farmland and has a trail to the side that leads down parallel to the plots. Overall, you can watch a sunset through the trees in a nice and quiet park. read more

We had our kids birthday party at this beautiful location. It was like celebrating in the middle of the woods. It is up-hills and gives you a good taste of Camarillo:) read more

One star because I had to pay $5 to get in ($3.00 weekdays). That is the reason there are so few dogs here. All the other parks from Ventura to TO are free. This is a nice park, but without grass. Instead you get decomposed granite, which becomes mud when wet, and just dirt when dry. It's okay but not my favorite. The dog parks are divided into small and large dog areas. The small dog area is to your left when you are driving in, with the large dog area somewhere to the right. I couldn't find it. Signage is poor. The area itself is quite lovely, with large, mature trees and 3 benches. If they stopped charging for dog entrance, I would likely give it 4-5 stars. Too bad. read more

Oak Grove Park, a former stage coach stop and home to the oldest tree in the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Parks District, is nestled in a rustic setting near the base of the Conejo Grade at the end of Camarillo Springs Road. This park was originally owned by Ventura County and after suffering many years of neglect due to budget restrictions, it was donated to the P.V Rec & Parks District. The District has added a lot of improvements over the last decade. It has five areas that can be rented for groups and events ranging from 50 to 350 people. On weekends the park can get really busy with that much capacity for groups, but on weekdays there generally much fewer people and is very peaceful. The park has a small enclosed dog park area. It has some good sized trees and a lot of shade, but the ground is mostly dirt. Unlike most parks where dogs must be on a leash, dogs can be off leash anywhere in the park (weekdays only--too many picnicers on weekends). Just be sure your dog will return on command because while their is fencing bordering most to the park, it's a pretty good sized area to be chasing a dog in. Recently an Outdoor Nature Center was built right at the entrance to the park. It is now open to the public during normal park hours unless being utilized for a program or event. This new facility includes interpretive signage along a trail that provides information about local ecosystems, flora and fauna; interactive water table; teaching deck for programs; nature-based play equipment such as boulders, logs, ant hill, and more; as well as native gardens with braille signs. Private rentals of the entire enclosed Nature Center facility are available. The park offers play equipment for children, lots of picnic tables and open grass areas to play catch or spread out a blanket and enjoy the quiet and beauty of this hidden gem of a park. Oak Grove offers multiple options for short hikes. The lower loop is an easier gently sloping trail with oak trees, sage, volcanic rock formations, and more. The upper loop is a moderate hike, over 1 mile in length, with an approximate 600 foot vertical differential. You will see both dry southern exposures and northern exposures with cactus species, monkey flower, sumac, and the ever endearing poison oak. This trail crosses two dry creek beds (wet season flow only) ending with a panoramic view of Pleasant Valley and the hills of Camarillo. This is a nice area for bird watching and identifying small animal tracks. While hiking at Camarillo Grove Park you may meet some of our local neighbors - coyotes, rabbits, birds, lizards, squirrels, snakes, and more. Per the P. V. Rec & Parks web site there is a parking fee. Motorized vehicles entering the park must purchase either a Daily Parking Permit or Annual Parking Permit. $3/per vehicle/day (ALL types)- Weekdays (Monday-Friday) $5/per vehicle/day (including motorcycles)- Weekends (Saturday & Sunday) $10/per over-sized vehicle/day (RV's and similar vehicles)- Weekends (Saturday & Sunday) $55/per vehicle (ALL types)- Annual Parking Permit, one year from month of purchase Weekday parking is on the honor system with envelopes for payment at the entrance to the park. Weekends there is usually an attendant there, but not always. read more

The other review is correct- it's not a busy dog park. However, the huge trees are lovely for shade-loving dogs and lack of other dogs is perfect chilled-out/senior dogs. We go here when my older dog wants to hang out outside in an interesting and rustic locale. The rather few people I have met at this dog park are similar to the dogs I've mentioned- an older crowd, mellow, and happy reading the paper in the shade while their dogs sniff around. 5 stars for variety in Camarillo dog parks! read more

Most beautiful spot in Camarillo. So many old oak trees, plenty of shade. Lots of space for my dog! Day camp sites, party areas, even a short trail up the mountain. The best (and only) place in town to go enjoy your day with out spending a penny. The only problem I have is that I live on the other end of town! read more
