Of leash fenced in area of park.

Review of the Dog Park portion only: It is fully fenced in and is a pretty large area....large enough to get some distance with your Chuck-It ball launcher. There are plenty of trees to provide shade or - as happened on the day we went - provide shelter from light rain. There was a doggie water fountain: I don't know if it worked because the day we went it was full of rain, and the dogs just drank the rainwater. The few people we met there were friendly, as were their dogs. The only downside is that the bulk of the dogpark is dirt.. -1 star for that. Definitely a great place to take your dogs if road tripping down/up the coast with your pups. Hint: the dog park portion of the great park can be tricky to find. The best way to get there is that when you pull into the park stay on the main road as long as you can (don't pull into any side parking lots) until such point as you hit the roundabout circle at the very very end. Park as close to that circle as you can, and the dog park is just beyond that circle in a fully fenced in area.

Camino Real Park is another one of the good parks in Ventura. The park is well kept with lush green grass and a walking path. The parking here is usually plentiful but occasionally gets a bit crowded. The restrooms here are fairly clean. There are many opportunities for outdoor/family/community activities here. The activities range from a sand volleyball court to walking path to tennis courts to 3 children's play areas to a 1 large and 1 small gated dog parks to picnic benches to areas that can be rented through the city for parties. The park also has softball fields which can also be rented out or used through the city for leagues. During softball season there is also a snack-bar which is good for hot drinks, water, seeds, etc. One of my favorite parts of Camino Real is the beauty of the park and the views/smell of the barranca and eucalyptus trees. At some times of the year the Monarch Butterflies are nesting.

I never realized just how many impressive parks there are in Ventura! I love that this park has a ton of space and things to do/see. There's a dog park at the very end of the park, past the baseball field. There's also some tennis courts, bbq areas that can be reserved and of course, playgrounds for the little ones. Best of all, there's usually a food truck or food stands during the week/Saturday during baseball season.

Review for the dog park After 2.5 years of adopting our pup, my husband and I finally decided to take him to the dog part for the first time. I was probably more anxious than he was! The park had two division - large dogs and small dogs but it appears that everyone and their dog just ends up in the large dog part. I asked some nice dog owners inside whether I should just go for it off leash and all and they said yes! So there I go, off leash and all and off he went! A bit awkward like a HS student but ultimately, he eased in and enjoyed himself. I am so glad I took him. Park was big and clean and many friendly dogs of all size and shape. Friendly owners. It was great chatting it up as I watch my dog frolicking away! Planning to go twice a month on Sundays as that appears to be a good time frame.

Closes at dusk!

Park closes at dusk. Its a nice park with a walking area. We come and walk out dog here. They have baseball fields and play soccer here in the summer. Nice park!

I noticed quite a few people commenting on the size of the Small Dog Park. I just wanted to add, that I brought this to the City's attention last May, and over the course of the next 5 months, we got it expanded. If you haven't been there in awhile, check out the Small Dog side, now. Of course I would have liked it even bigger, but am happy with the result. The good news is, it's larger and has shade from Eucalyptus trees. The downside is, since much of the area hadn't been previously used, there are sometimes those little round burrs that can get in dogs' fur/hair. Hopefully as the area is continually groomed, that will get better. There is grass in part of it. They are working on adding another bench and a water fountain.

Camino Real Dog Park Drive all the way to the end of the park to find the dog park area. This is an all friends to get sized dog park with lots of dirt , mulch and trees. The trees are wonderful in the summer. Rather noisy as it is along the 101. Several branches throughout the area. They have a small dog area which is really tiny.

I love this dog park. This may be the only dog park I take my Dalmatian to after having a horrible experience at Springville dog park with an incompetent owner of a brown Pitt named Teddy. My dog is a shy dog and because of this we make sure that any interaction he has with other dogs is only positive. Every time we come here there's nothing but friendly dogs with good doggy manners who give my dog space until he feels confident enough to approach and befriend them. I recommend this park to any responsible dog owner who wants their dog to have fun at the dog park.

Good walking park

It is a nice clean park hidden away off of Dean Drive. Follow the signs and look for the entrance set back off the road. Tennis courts, baseball fields, and shady grassy areas abound. There is a fenced dog park also. The downside is the park backs onto Hwy 126 so the traffic noise level is high. On a late afternoon, the place was fairly empty except some walkers and dog people, making it it a pleasant place for a stroll under the sycamores.

Large dog side of the park
Sofia S.

The large dog side is mainly dirt so be sure to watch your step. The small dog side is really small. This park states on the rules that you are to keep your leash on your person in case you must remove your dog. A good idea but my first time seeing it posted. Sometimes the water fountain is out of order so be sure to test it before your dog works up a thirst. Most people show up after nine, early mornings are empty. Maybe possibly busier during the summer? All the dogs and people were very friendly.

Parking isn't that great but the park is beautiful, took our pup for the first time to the dog park and she loved it! Friendly dogs and large area for her to run around in

This dog park is outstanding! Very very large area and we've already fallen in love with this place to take our dog

Huge and amazing dog park. This place is great for dogs of all sizes and shapes lol. It may be a little hidden but it's well worth the find. Go and see for yourself!!

Loved watching for the monarch migration in year's past. This park is large and offers a little something for everyone.

This is my FAVE park in Ventura because - IMO - it has everything you need for a great day at the…read morebeach. Let's start with FREE PARKING! Some local beaches are starting to charge, but this one still offers PLENTY of free parking. In addition, there are multiple playgrounds - including a pirate galleon from when the park was established during my childhood, a THOUSAND years ago! It doesn't have the zip line that caused me to smash my leg into the concrete side, leaving a still visible scar 1,000 years later, which is probably for the best, but a kinder/gentler playground with more modern amenities for today's active child. There is also an expansive grass area, where you will find many local pups bounding about with joy. On the grassy areas, BBQs! Also a protected, man made beach cove with an easy enter, small to no wave water entry. Lots of families prefer to set up their space on the green grass and then make their way to the beach, which is an ideal way to have your picnic sand free! A foot shower is also available to rinse the beach off before you settle back onto your blanket. Plenty of benches, tables and a bathroom that is, if I'm being completely honest, acceptable, but could use an upgrade. If you're more active, make your way to the public dock to launch your kayak, paddle board, etc. I've also seen people fishing from this dock and launching remote control boats - so cute! If you haven't brought your own board or boat, there is a rental kiosk handily available. This is also a great park to stroll through. A clear path goes from the parking lot to the tip of the Ventura Harbor entrance, known as Soter Point, where a beautiful sculpture stands. When I think of the perfect beach park, I think of Marina Park in Ventura. Cheers! "CC"

I've spent countless mornings and afternoons here hiking, clearing my head, and getting a great workout in while still enjoying nature. The trails are well maintained with multiple options, so you can keep it light or make it more challenging depending on your mood. The views are beautiful, especially in the early morning or at sunset, and it never feels overly crowded. It has a calm, local Ventura vibe that I really appreciate. I've also brought kids I nanny here for walks and fresh air (sticking to the easier areas), and it's such a great space to reset. One thing to note: when it's hot, be cautious of snakes on the trails--proper shoes and awareness are important. If you're looking for a reliable, scenic place to hike in Ventura that locals truly love, Arroyo Verde Park is a must.

In the middle of the park is the toddler playground and then at the end of the park is the larger playground area for older children. There is lots of grass and a grass hillside. The highlight for me was the toddler playground. I work with children and often like to meet at parks to see their gross motor skills and work on them. This is one of the few parks left I have seen with sand. The park was very clean and even though there were many dogs off leash running around, pet owners were quite aware of where their dogs were and I didn't see any dog poop in the grass. You also can't beat that gorgeous ocean view. I came on a Friday late afternoon when they don't charge a park fee. Big plus!

I like that there is some shade up by the park. The dog park isn't for me but I appreciate the layout of it with both the small dog section and the big dog section. It's not so much the park, it's the dog owners which made me take a break from this spot. Like other reviews said some people just aren't mindful dog owners and why they take their dogs to the park is beyond me. My dog is shy and attached to my hip so he didn't love the dog park to begin with. When I'd come here to this specific dog park there were enough instances of aggressive little dogs attacking other dogs that I kind of just became over this place. If I felt my dog was safe here I'd try to bring him more but with the little aggressive dogs & his disinterest we haven't been back for a long time. Some of my friends have said good things about this dog park so I'm sure it just depends on the day and which set of doggies you come across. My more updated review is for the pickleball courts. Came today and I enjoyed these courts. They are nicely painted and clean. My only upgrade is I wish they had more squares. Only two pickleball courts so if it's a busy day you'll definitely need to wait. However today wasn't too bad and we got to play a lot. Met a lot of nice fellow players and overall it was a good day. I like that the parking spots are close to the courts. Easy. A nice place to play as long as it isn't busy, wish they had more courts but I just doesn't seem like they have the room. I'll definitely be back though.
