Barbecue grills!

Pretty sweet park for a campground-ish feel. Last weekend I came here because I wanted to barbecue, and Girsh Park as well as Goleta Beach were completely full. Since Tucker's Grove is huge, we easily found parking and a barbecue several yards away from our car. We forgot to bring drinks but found vending machines as well as a water spigot, which we used to wash off our plates.

Dog friendly! This review is for the San Antonio Creek trail. There's plenty of parking space, just make sure to park all the way at the end of the lot (closer to the dog park) to save you from having to walk through boring parking lot. A mistake I made was I took a parking spot close to the entrance. I saw a brown wooden sign that said "trail" so I thought that was the start of it. It was not. It's part of the park trail, maybe .25 of a mile loop. Save yourself the time and energy and skip it. The real trail signs you want to look for are white, or the main one at the end of the parking lot that says "San Antonio Creek trail". There are a couple of minor creek crossings (there was still some water) so just be careful when rock hopping. Once we reached the end at San Marcos Pass Rd and it looked like there was more trail on the other side... DON'T DO IT. It's basically all in the sun, not scenic at all, and ends in a residential area that is closed off, forcing you to backtrack all the way to get back to your car. Don't make our mistake. Overall the San Antonio Creek trail was nice, mostly flat, shady trail. I would recommend it to people visiting with dogs. If you come in the summer, just make sure to bring a lot of water, you can stop at the dog park to refill. Also, the park opens at 8, which is a bummer to early bird hikers like me who like to go before it gets crowded/too hot.

Wonderful park with lovely picnic sites. This park is kept immaculate and the picnic sites are always clean and well maintained. The Ranger and park hosts at Tucker's Grove are friendly and very helpful for assisting visitors. The bathrooms are very clean and we love the kids play area with lots of swings and slides. We took this funny picture of one of the park hosts cleaning up after a large baby shower. Great people for sure

Lots of sticks to play with!

Excellent playground area and clean bathrooms. Plenty of parking too. First time here with my kids and we love that it's close to out home.

Family favorite. The hike/bike trail up the canyon is beautiful, serene and a lot of fun on a mountain bike.

Parking is Free and Plentiful -- In early August 2025 we showed up at 6:30pm on a Monday (to hike the preserve). There was tons of parking in the lots that abut The Boathouse, and the lots are always free for the public. There is also free street parking on the street just past the traffic circle. The hike/trail (The Douglas Family Preserve): A nice easy trail, and really fun for the doggos as it is an off-leash area. I'd say that half the people we saw on the trail had a pup, while the other half had no pets. The loop from the ground to the top and back is 1.5miles. There is 150 feet of elevation gain over a distance of about 1/3 of a mile; the rest of the hike is flat (w/ a large mesa at the top with lots of interconnected trails if you want to make the hike more extensive than a 1.5mile loop). Our dog not only enjoyed the walk, but had lots of fun trying to start some small play sessions with other dogs that she saw on the trail. Bonus: this trail uses the same parking lot as Hendry's Beach (Arroyo Burro Beach), which is leash free along the coastline east of the lifeguard tower (to the left of the lifeguard tower if you are facing the ocean).

The name really says it all- it's an open space. It's gated which is really nice, since I love being able to have my pup off leash. This area is very spacious, which is great for all dogs with different kinds of personalities to all be in one enclosed space. For instance, one side could be filled with the Golden Girls and their little, slightly territorial dogs, while the other is filled with large dogs playing fetch with their humans. I love this place better than any other dog park. I forget the name of the dog park that's a little ways away, but I absolutely despise that place (my review is on my profile). The dogs here are typically really friendly towards other dogs and people! The reason why I gave this space 4/5 stars is because the up-keep on it is minimal/nonexistent. I don't think anyone does any sort of maintenance, but I don't blame them (it's a collective action problem). It kind of sucks when it rains out, because it gets soooo muddy in my opinion. However, the dogs probably don't mind the mud AT ALL.

5 Star Rating Lookout Park in Summerland, near Santa…read moreBarbara, is an absolute gem! This clean, beautiful park, perfectly situated on a bluff above the Pacific Ocean, was the ideal spot for our family reunion this past June. We'll definitely be back! Value - 5 The value here is incredible. We reserved Area A for just $65 for the whole day for our family reunion! It came with a large, double-width bbq, two picnic tables and a long, high-top serving table. That's a steal, especially considering places in Oxnard (which aren't nearly as bougie or clean) were charging well over $200. Quality / Cleanliness - 5 This park is impeccably maintained. There are two large picnic areas (require reservation) and several smaller picnic areas with bbq (first come, first served), and the large, well-maintained play area for kids is fantastic, including a jungle gym and even musical instruments. The path down to the beach is somewhat steep but totally worth it. The beach itself is super clean, with sand at low tide and lots of cute nooks and crannies to explore. At high tide, it becomes a rocky beach as the water comes right up to the path landing. Plus, it's pet-friendly! Service - N/A As a public park, there isn't a traditional "service" component to review, but the booking process for the picnic area was smooth. Physical Location - 5 The location is simply stunning. Being on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean is breathtaking. The park is clean, the amenities are well-kept, and there's a cute little town/shopping area just past the Amtrak overpass that's easily walkable from the park. Everything about this location is perfect.

I like that there is some shade up by the park. The dog park isn't for me but I appreciate the layout of it with both the small dog section and the big dog section. It's not so much the park, it's the dog owners which made me take a break from this spot. Like other reviews said some people just aren't mindful dog owners and why they take their dogs to the park is beyond me. My dog is shy and attached to my hip so he didn't love the dog park to begin with. When I'd come here to this specific dog park there were enough instances of aggressive little dogs attacking other dogs that I kind of just became over this place. If I felt my dog was safe here I'd try to bring him more but with the little aggressive dogs & his disinterest we haven't been back for a long time. Some of my friends have said good things about this dog park so I'm sure it just depends on the day and which set of doggies you come across. My more updated review is for the pickleball courts. Came today and I enjoyed these courts. They are nicely painted and clean. My only upgrade is I wish they had more squares. Only two pickleball courts so if it's a busy day you'll definitely need to wait. However today wasn't too bad and we got to play a lot. Met a lot of nice fellow players and overall it was a good day. I like that the parking spots are close to the courts. Easy. A nice place to play as long as it isn't busy, wish they had more courts but I just doesn't seem like they have the room. I'll definitely be back though.

It's down a small trail and a bridge from the school. The bridge is above a seasonal creek which has seen more dry days as of late. It's still beautiful in its own regard. This park is in the center of an upscale mid century neighborhood and is bordered by homes and a good amount of open space. There is no private parking but the street spaces are plentiful. The park features a lush green belt with backstops for your sports games, an upgraded playground separated into two age-appropriate sections, and a picnic area. I've come here when there are birthday parties. What a great place to host an event. Near the creek, you'll find an abundance of trees and lush vegetation. I've been when the creek is full and the view from the bridge is awesome. This park is very well-maintained and super family- and pet-friendly. A great place to check out.
