I spent a night in Hagerstown and Rik's Cafe showed up as the highest rated place. It didn't disappoint. I was part of a large group and we had a lot of food and drinks. No one was unhappy. The wings were very good and their crab Rangoon was the best I ever had, in my life. For dinner I had the crabby chicken which was a chicken breast top with crab meat served over rice, with fresh vegetables. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. I literally cleaned my plate everything was so good. Two colleagues ordered the rib-eye. It was so good that one asked me to help him finish his. It was very tasty. Even though we had no room we still had dessert. I wasn't a huge fan of the cocktails. Several of us had the old fashioned, but I ended up switching to something else. They do have a long list of cocktails and a nice selection of spirits. A much better choice than any chain.

We finally made it to Rik's Cafe. It did not disappoint. The service was wonderful. The food was delicious. We started with duck wontins. We loved every bite of it including the garnish. However, we did not taste much duck. For our meals we got the reuben and the tipsy shirt ribs. Both were great choices. We ended our meal with fried cheese. Another winner choice. We will be back to try other menu items.

We went to the museum for the afternoon and found Riks through its's excellent reviews and it did not disappoint! We started with the Crab Rangoon which was some of the best in the County. My husband had the bison burger and I had the crab grilled cheese. Both very satisfying meals.

Really good food! Don't let the fact that the restaurant is in a strip mall. Service was great and vibe was fun. Careful though. The mushrooms are in the jam. I didn't realize that when I got the jam on the side. My mistake for not reading the menu more carefully.

My family was on the search for a local restaurant to try before going Black Friday shopping at the Hagerstown outlets. I came across Rik's Cafe nearby which had great reviews. We were seated immediately and noticed that the cafe was pretty busy throughout our time there. We ordered the crab grilled cheese, angus burger, and mango jerk chicken sandwich. The food took some time to come out, but that gave us more time to appreciate the decor around the restaurant! Once our food came, it looked delicious! My grilled cheese has plenty of crab, but the sandwich overall was very soggy and the bread was not well toasted and sturdy. The fries were also disappointingly soggy as well, so my meal was quite mushy. My brother enjoyed the mushroom angus burger more than my mom, but they both agreed that there was a lack of mushrooms in the burger despite the name. My dad noted that the chicken in his sandwich was dry and he couldn't really detect the mango. He did say that the sweet potato fries were really good. Overall, Rik's was not bad and is an alright option for the area, but the food did let us down a bit.

Was exploring Hagerstown and searched Yelp for the most reviewed place. Rik's came up. Nice little place is a funky strip mall with a Goodwill store in it. The servers were very friendly and there was a good crowd for a Saturday around 2pm.

This is my favorite place in Hagerstown when I want a good, yummy bowl or cup of soup. Today's was Black bean & corn soup; yummy and bursting with flavor. We ordered a Southwest Rueben to split and I've had many here and I'm never disappointed. My friend and I shared so the kitchen split it in half without even asking. Good food, casual environment, service is excellent. The owner is usually around and checks on his customers. It's located in a shopping center, a hidden gems and a fantastic restaurant.

This was my 5th or 6th visit to Riks Cafe, and it never disappoints. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and the vibe is a perfect mix of modern and cozy. The drinks are always amazing, and the food is just as impressive. I highly recommend the buffalo tots as an appetizer--they're a must-try. Everything I've ordered has been packed with flavor, and on the rare occasion something isn't quite right, they're quick to fix it without any hassle. Riks Cafe is truly a hidden gem in Hagerstown. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's well worth a visit!

Yum! Stopped by after half ski day at Whitetail-- delicious lunch, great service. We had various sandwiches, all of which were delicious. Favorite thing was sweet potato fries with apple butter-- YUM! Manager stopped by several times to check in on us, entire staff very attentive. Understated from the outside (and in unremarkable strip mall), but super good, casual lunch! read more

Ok, so while I would not call myself a foodie, I can recognize great food and Rik's Cafe has it! Who would have thought you could find edgy, fresh, and creative dishes in Hagerstown? And it would be in a random strip mall. Rik's has amazing food! I had the Rice Bowl - yum and perfect for a vegetarian. My friends had a Beet salad and Salad with salmon. They too raved about the food - so fresh and tasty. I'm still amazed that this atypical cuisine could be found in a strip mall. Well done Rik!!!!! Service was great too! Oh, Rik - how about cleaning the carpet runner to the bathrooms - they were gross. Luckily I saw this at the end of the meal :) read more

Everything was amazing! Don't be deceived by the strip mall this place is located in, the food and service were top notch. My husband raved about the beet and berry salad and the crab pretzel also. The tuna tostadas were delicious as well as the crab cake sandwich. We will be back! read more

This restaurant looks like nothing special from the outside and the parking lot that has a weird setup, but let me tell you it's completely different feeling when you walk in. Very cool atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I got the steak and cheese soup and the lamb burger and I was pleasantly surprised, especially for the location. The burger was juicy and the combination of roasted red peppers, goat cheese, and taziki sauce made it a home run. We will definitely return. Don't let the outside fool you, great yelp find for us! read more

Such an amazing restaurant. The specials are incredible and so worth every penny. Make sure to get reservations or books up quickly. While it doesn't look like much from the outside but inside is a beautiful culinary experience. There is great pride by the owners in their business and it is clear that they have high standards. Rik's doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is absolutely amazing. If I lived closer, I'd probably be there all the time. For days after my visit I told people about the crab grilled cheese with sweet potato fries (and apple butter for dipping). The dessert menu looked incredible, too, but I was too full to order anything! read more

This dainty cafe sits on an unassuming spot in a strip mall. To be honest I didn't expect much from this cafe just because the strip mall looked pretty much abandoned. When I approached the front door I was met with a humorous sign that got me pretty excited, but was let down pretty quickly as I finished reading the entire message (see photo). I ordered the blackened chicken sandwhich with the chipotle aioli. It came with sweet potato fries. The sand which was simple but delicious. Everything on Rik's Menu was pretty simple; the selection wasn't huge but everything sounded delicious. The sweet potato fries came with an apple butter sauce; not a usual pairing but was surprisingly great together. The apple butter sauce had a sweetness that matched the sweet potato fries and was something I was very happy to have tried. So if you're like me and was shopping around the Hagerstown Premium Outlets, Rik's Cafe is a must visit restaurant for lunch. read more

Had oysters. They were tasty, but have a strong stomach. They were covered in bacon and cheese and quite heavy. Same for the crab cake. The reason for my two star review was the service. I took my then girlfriend/ now wife there for her birthday, but as soon as our server pegged us as gay, she only came by to drop off our food, did not ask us any questions and made no eye contact. We were only approached once more and given our check even though she seemed to have no problem interacting with other customers. Really unfortunate experience for a birthday dinner. read more

My wife got a veggie pita which she really enjoyed. The hand cut french fries were excellent. I didn't enjoy the special of the day which was chicken cheesesteak sub. The wait staff was outstanding. Have enjoyed a meal here before. Worth a try. read more

We just happened to stop in here on the way home from a Seven Springs ski trip. We found Rik's Cafe by chance and could not be more impressed. The food is excellent. The service is great. The prices are perfect! We will definitely be back here again!! This goes to show you can not judge a book by its cover. This is one of the best places I have eaten in a LONG time. read more

Every time we come to this area to camp, we have to hit Riks. It is amazing every single time. Very few places I eat and it feels like an experience that you can't forget but that's truly how it is. This was our stop on the way home on New Years Eve- an excellent choice! The food was so much better than I expected; the she crab soup was so good and the flavor was so well done. Enjoyed that as well as a perfect martini that had the nice layer of thin ice on top- a sign of a well shaken martini! My seafood broil was perfect- jasmine rice and perfectly cooked asparagus with 4 large sea scallops- 3 large shrimp and an amazingly excellent crab cake that was just moist and deliciously flavored crab- just perfect. The owner was friendly and very welcoming- a great way to end the year, Will definitely Italy stop on our next trip to Charlotte. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Rik's. The food is delicious. The staff is nice, competent & efficient. We were there during the dinner rush, but our food came out quickly & was fantastic. Rick's cafe has some great carryout food during the Covid-19 pandemic. The pulled pork was fabulous and worth the 30 minute trip. The mahi taco's were some of the best I have ever had. We highly recommend this small locally owned restaurant. read more

I ordered the Ostrich Burger and it was the best burger I have eaten. I am a mushroom fanatic so I asked if the truffle in the goat cheese is real...and it is! Instantly ordered it, and the truffle goat cheese is absolutely perfect. Meat was tender and perfectly cooked to medium - very nice and pink. I honestly could never make a burger this good. This was a close-by stop for dinner on our way back from a full afternoon of skiing - and it didn't disappoint. From the amazing microgreens/beets salad, to the perfectly executed medium-rare steak (and even more perfectly-executed broccoli side - no grey veggies here), to their willingness to help reserve a table for our family when we were on our way, the experience was top notch the whole way. The menu had choices for every palate in our family this evening, and we were so glad we stopped here. We capped off our dinner with a Boston cream cake that wasn't cloying. Stopped in here for lunch yesterday after outlet shopping. Yelp, you've done it again! This place was amazing. My boyfriend got the Old Bay and shrimp Bloody Mary, which was spicy and wonderful. I had the strawberry Jon Daly. I love that they used fresh and unsweetened tea. So refreshing without being too sweet! Our meals were really what blew us away, though. My blackened chicken sandwich was cooked to perfection. The poblano pepper and chipotle aioli put it over the edge. I also got the fresh sweet potato fries, and those, paired with the apple butter, were divine. Really made me want it to be Fall! My boyfriend loved his Havana burger. The burger was thick and juicy. Just driving through and found this gem. Fantastic food and service. I got the crab cakes and Caesar salad. Both delicious. The server was extremely attentive and the manager visited the table to ensure everything was good. Very simple exterior almost made me second guess my choice, but I trusted all the other positive reviews. I too highly recommend. read more

Always love Riks. It's a classic in Hagerstown. Typically my fiancé and I have lunch here if we are both off work on the same day. She likes to get whatever is on special for the day and I always get the Blackened Chipotle Chicken Pasta. Food is always excellent, freshly made and tastes great. The staff is friendly and attentive. During this pandemic they have limited seating and put up barriers between booths. The staff wear masks at all times. read more

OMG the Bahi Tuna tacos were great and the Crap and Mussels pasta was marvelous. Black Raspberry White Russian drinks were also great. Talk about efficiency with clearing tables we got up our table was cleaned, wiped down and set for next group that was awesome and it was the hostesses that did it instead and of bus people read more

One caveat: Recently I ordered a pizza from here and noticed the dough was rolled out thinner than usual and that the mozzarella cheese changed to a noticeably lower, less sharp and buttery tasting quality. Don't know if it was a fluke and the usual vendor was out of stock on the brand of cheese they usually get, but if it turns out that they're cheapening the pizza ingredients to save money I'll be really disappointed. This seems to be happening all over town at the establishments we patronize. In conclusion, I definitely recommend ordering pizza from here for parties, a last minute dinner solution, or for game nights. They open at 3pm weekdays and before 5 you can get very decent early bird prices for several menu items. The food is very good, especially for the price. I usually get a steak which comes perfectly done to order. Seasoned just right. I like the baked potatoes and sweet potatoes that you can get topped with a variety of toppings. I've also tried the pork chops and ribs which were great, beef kabobs with grilled onions and peppers on rice or mashed potatoes (yum). I've tried the prime rib which is also good but frankly the steaks are better. Recently I tried their country fried steak for the first time. It was ginormous! Filled the entire plate. I will admit though that I was a bit disappointed. I've enjoyed better at several breakfast spots even though at half the size. I love the cactus blossom which is their version of Outback's Blooming Onion. I think both are equally delicious. We first spotted Rik's Cafe before their permanent sign had gone up, and checked it out over Thanksgiving weekend. The first thing we noticed was the decor, which is very relaxing and welcoming. The staff was also very welcoming, and very informative and helpful. Being located near the site of the former Dixie Kitchen Cafe, we had kind of expected more diner-style fare, but Rik's is definitely a more upscale sit-down restaurant type experience. The prices are reasonable--more expensive than fast food but excellent for the quality--and the portions are good without being loaded with "filler", which is great because their desserts are excellent. My meal was a green salad with goat cheese, raspberries, and pine nuts, topped with a chicken breast. My companions had a salmon cake and a combination Cuban sandwich/cheeseburger. The food was delicious and the presentation was exquisite. Being in the neighborhood, I expect we'll be back to Rik's fairly often. read more

My wife and I went to Riks cafe to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary. We were blown away. The food was outstanding. We both had appetizers, my wife had the spinach and baby kale salad and I had the stuffed mozzarella with tomato. Both were excellent! For our entrees my wife had the tuna tacos and I had the salmon cakes. Her tuna tacos were very good with just a right amount of kick to them. My salmon cakes were awesome. No filler just pure salmon server over jasmine rice. We shared a bottle of wine seven daughters moscoto which we both enjoyed. For desert we shared the tera misou which we both loved. You can really taste the rum in it. The staff at Riks were really friendly and looked like they were having a great time. Our waiter sang while serving us and that just added to our awesome experience. I will definitely be back and look forward to trying other menu items. read more

I have been raving about this incredible restaurant since my first visit there almost two years ago! Today my children got to experience why I have said that this restaurant is SO very worth the trip as they took me there to celebrate Mother's Day. Like many, my daughter was a little skeptical when entering the strip mall and walking to the front door. But once inside, when she and her siblings got to experience the incredible food and the friendly and attentive service, they became fans. Our meal began with the crab pretzel and specialized draft beer and hard cider. Our meals were first class, from the famous crab cakes and sweet potato fries with apple butter, to the pork medallions. And my day ended on such a sweet note with the creme brulee and the macaroon. Hagerstowns best kept secret! We have passed by this place a hundred times and never even noticed it. A review of Yelp, while looking for something different, made us stop and give it a try. Glad we did. The service was incredible; knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Don't let the unassuming storefront fool you, the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable and the food was superb. Don't pass up the Mussels Caliente. The sauce is incredible and will have you asking for more toast points as you will want to make sure you get every last drop. My wife and I were given a gift certificate to Rik's. When we drove up we were a bit apprehensive because it is in a rather run down strip mall. Still, we had a gift card, so we went on in.
