I spent a night in Hagerstown and Rik's Cafe showed up as the highest rated place. It didn't disappoint. I was part of a large group and we had a lot of food and drinks. No one was unhappy. The wings were very good and their crab Rangoon was the best I ever had, in my life. For dinner I had the crabby chicken which was a chicken breast top with crab meat served over rice, with fresh vegetables. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. I literally cleaned my plate everything was so good. Two colleagues ordered the rib-eye. It was so good that one asked me to help him finish his. It was very tasty. Even though we had no room we still had dessert. I wasn't a huge fan of the cocktails. Several of us had the old fashioned, but I ended up switching to something else. They do have a long list of cocktails and a nice selection of spirits. A much better choice than any chain.

We finally made it to Rik's Cafe. It did not disappoint. The service was wonderful. The food was delicious. We started with duck wontins. We loved every bite of it including the garnish. However, we did not taste much duck. For our meals we got the reuben and the tipsy shirt ribs. Both were great choices. We ended our meal with fried cheese. Another winner choice. We will be back to try other menu items.

We went to the museum for the afternoon and found Riks through its's excellent reviews and it did not disappoint! We started with the Crab Rangoon which was some of the best in the County. My husband had the bison burger and I had the crab grilled cheese. Both very satisfying meals.

Really good food! Don't let the fact that the restaurant is in a strip mall. Service was great and vibe was fun. Careful though. The mushrooms are in the jam. I didn't realize that when I got the jam on the side. My mistake for not reading the menu more carefully.

My family was on the search for a local restaurant to try before going Black Friday shopping at the Hagerstown outlets. I came across Rik's Cafe nearby which had great reviews. We were seated immediately and noticed that the cafe was pretty busy throughout our time there. We ordered the crab grilled cheese, angus burger, and mango jerk chicken sandwich. The food took some time to come out, but that gave us more time to appreciate the decor around the restaurant! Once our food came, it looked delicious! My grilled cheese has plenty of crab, but the sandwich overall was very soggy and the bread was not well toasted and sturdy. The fries were also disappointingly soggy as well, so my meal was quite mushy. My brother enjoyed the mushroom angus burger more than my mom, but they both agreed that there was a lack of mushrooms in the burger despite the name. My dad noted that the chicken in his sandwich was dry and he couldn't really detect the mango. He did say that the sweet potato fries were really good. Overall, Rik's was not bad and is an alright option for the area, but the food did let us down a bit.

Was exploring Hagerstown and searched Yelp for the most reviewed place. Rik's came up. Nice little place is a funky strip mall with a Goodwill store in it. The servers were very friendly and there was a good crowd for a Saturday around 2pm.

This is my favorite place in Hagerstown when I want a good, yummy bowl or cup of soup. Today's was Black bean & corn soup; yummy and bursting with flavor. We ordered a Southwest Rueben to split and I've had many here and I'm never disappointed. My friend and I shared so the kitchen split it in half without even asking. Good food, casual environment, service is excellent. The owner is usually around and checks on his customers. It's located in a shopping center, a hidden gems and a fantastic restaurant.

This was my 5th or 6th visit to Riks Cafe, and it never disappoints. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and the vibe is a perfect mix of modern and cozy. The drinks are always amazing, and the food is just as impressive. I highly recommend the buffalo tots as an appetizer--they're a must-try. Everything I've ordered has been packed with flavor, and on the rare occasion something isn't quite right, they're quick to fix it without any hassle. Riks Cafe is truly a hidden gem in Hagerstown. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's well worth a visit!

When I was working in the area I ordered from Riks like every day. Their food was really good and gave me a nice home made feel which I always miss when I am working on the road. I was never a fan of Brussels but they were actually really good with the chicken Chesapeake. The Lamb burger and the cesar salad are my favorites. The lamb is served in perfectly charred naan bread with spinach, red onion, kalamata olives and creamy feta cheese. Sweet potato fries set this over the top. The french dip was just okay. This is definitely a place that you want to try if you are in the area. read more

Workout question the best restaurant in Hagerstown. Prices are reasonable, liquor drinks are tasty, food is always a good experience. it's me and the wifey's go to spot and it's right across from South High so only like 3 min from our house. Quite frankly it's almost too good for Hagerstown so I'm glad to see its been successful. read more

Came here for the 1st time today. Great service, DELICIOUS food, and decent prices. We got the chicken Chesapeake and the drunken muscles. So so good! We didn't get dessert but took a look at them and will definitely be trying next time. A great spot in Hagerstown. read more

The service is always good here, and the food is excellent. Have never had a bad experience, and I eat here often. Just be aware that they are very busy in the evenings- if you don't want to wait I highly recommend a reservation if you're eating in. read more

We were searching for a place to get lunch on the way to the airport, and Yelp showed great reviews for this place so we decided to give it a try. When we pulled up we were skeptical because the location is in a run-down looking strip mall. But, there weren't many other options nearby so we stuck with it. I'm so glad we did - great menu, yummy food, great service and it was clean and cute inside. Don't judge a book by the cover is the moral here. We found this place on a long drive through to Ohio. REALLY nice service, lovely cozy atmosphere, and the food is solid. Definitely would recommend stopping by for a bite. My partner got the lamb burger and I got the border chicken, and of the two the lamb was better. Did I mention how nice and personable and fast the service was? I'd come back for the people who work here alone. They even made hot chocolate for me when I asked, though it wasn't on their menu and it's obvious they don't usually make it. read more

In fairness this was during covid and we did takeout. nothing is quite as good takeout. But my Blackened Mahi tacos were just meh. Somehow the flavors just didn't come together nor the texture of the fish. It was fine but not something I have a craving to go back to. read more

We were traveling from Balitmore to Morgantown and needed a place for supper. We found Ric's on Yelp and gave it a try. It was wonderful great food along with incredible and friendly service. My wife had the Turkey and Brie sandwich with sweet potato fries. I hade the blackened mahi chipotle sandwich with fresh cut fries both were delicious. I highly recommend going to Ric's. Don't judge a book by its cover! Yes its in a strip mall (honestly, not too much in Hagerstown is beautifully presented), but, the service was amazing and Rik even came by to talk with us, making sure we loved the experience. It is in a laid back setting, but the food is creative and novel. There are many things on the menu I'm excited to go back and try. I had this poke tuna with wasabi on macaroni and cheese with bread crumbs and sriracha sauce. It sounds ridiculous but somehow it was so delicious and like nothing I have ever had before. Can't remember the sandwich my husband ordered, but he loved it too. We both felt like we got a lot of food. I couldn't finish mine so I had some left over. Definitely a gem. We will be adding this restaurant to our rotation! read more

Passing through Hagerstown we found Riks on Yelp. Excellent sandwiches- we had the Reuben and the Turkey and Brie. I usually don't like tomato soup but really enjoyed the tomato bisque. Also had a very pleasant chat with the manager who it turns out is also from southern Maryland. The shopping center it is in looks a little edgy but don't let that deter you. read more

I went here solely on the Yelp reviews. I had some oral surgery and still had stitches in my mouth, so I was looking for something soft to eat. I had the Mango Habanero's Shrimp and Mussels and it was fantastic. My son had a cheeseburger and fries and said that is was delicious. Since he recently moved to Hagerstown, this will be a spot I return to on my next visit. read more

I don't know the exact title of this on the menu, but I just had a wasabi mac and cheese with poke tuna, seaweed salad and sriracha drizzle. Yes it probably sounds absurd and it totally shouldn't work. But holy hell it really does. I just laughed when I tasted it, because it is so freaking good. It's perfect. In fact it was SO good I forgot to take a photo before I murdered it with my face. I've been here a few times when I've come back to Hagerstown. Creative and delicious food in a super comfy and unpretentiousness setting. The food is unusual and inventive, but always predictably great. The owners stop by for chats. The chef is a genius. It's just a warm and friendly place that feels good to be in. And not surprisingly, they're always busy. I mean...always. You should try it if you haven't. read more

Cool out of the way place. Hard to spot from the strip mall but wonderful inside. Great service , good beer, and a truly interesting and tasty menu. You could pass this place 1000 times and never think about going in. That would be a mistake. Ahi, bison, crab, steak, lamb. Great stuff read more

Went on a very busy Thursday night expecting to have delays in being waited on and food delivery but was very pleasantly surprised that the wait was short, food was fantastic and service impeccable! What an amazing find. We weren't expecting a place like this in a strip mall. I had the Havana burger it was amazing. The best sweet potato fries I've ever had. The staff is friendly and very helpful it's obvious they love their jobs. The owner came by and chatted with us for a while too. Great guy. In town for GeoWoodstock 13. So far every trip to Rik's has been awesome. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed with a pub like groove. Tonight we ordered a Caesar salad and asked that the romain be grilled. What I love about Rik's is that they will customize your order and being vegetarian this is uber important to us. The salad was amazing as usual. Next we had a marinated portobello sandwich on ciabatta role which was spectacular. This is a customization also as it is sold on the menu on a sub role which honestly doesn't hold up to the marinade and gets soggy. The sandwich came with sweet potato fries along with a surprise. Apple butter. I've had sweet potato fries before but the apple butter SET IT OFF! For desert I had coffee and fried cheesecake! The coffee: Average coffee, old and not strong enough for my taste. I mentioned that it tasted stale and he brought me a fresh cup despite my admonition that it was ok. Top notch service! The cheesecake: Salty sweet, crispy and rich. Sooooo amazing! It paired so well with the vanilla ice cream. Don't miss this dining experience! read more

Based on the reviews and pictures, we were very excited to get off work the highway and search this place out. Looked at the hours of operation, good to go. Much to our disappointment, we get there only to find they were closed. Bummer. We are hauling a trailer so having the fact that they are closed Mondays would have been nice to see on their listed hours that they are open. Today is 12/5/22 and the sign in the door said until further notice so if it's a Monday , I'd definitely call before you get off the highway. read more

Great menu selection! Also a very cute cafe. We ordered the crab bisque soup- obviously a very heavy soup- but it gets the job done! We all ordered salads- I was most pleased with mine. I definitely recommend the spinach and kale salad with chicken added to it. I also swapped out the dried cherries for pine nuts. read more

This place is worthy of a Michelin Star. I don't live in the area but I *always* head to Rik's when I am in town. It is one of my favorite spots to eat with my Mom. Among our favorites are the garlic-parm wings, crab soup, blackened unicorn tacos, and braised beef short ribs. Really though anything on the menu is superb. Good wine list, full bar. Great service. Definitely a place you want around once we can go out to eat again. Think about some takeout while COVID restrictions are in place. read more

From the outside I didn't have high hopes. I was wrong to judge. This place had a pleasant atmosphere, super service, great drink selection, and awesome food. From the time we walked in they delivered a top notch experience. When I come back to town I am definitely stopping back in. Don't judge, it's worth a shot. read more

She arrived at 5:00 pm and placed an order. 15 minutes later, they had not started her order so she asked the owner working, how much longer because she had to pick up our son by 5:30. He told her to get off the phone aggressively. She then asked for a refund. This is a small business and I've never seen the bakery full of customers, so there should be a concerted effort to provide good service. Again, my wife placed her order and waited 15 minutes before asking when would they start on her order. We're never returning to this bakery again.

We first spotted Rik's Cafe before their permanent sign had gone up, and checked it out over Thanksgiving weekend. The first thing we noticed was the decor, which is very relaxing and welcoming. The staff was also very welcoming, and very informative and helpful. Being located near the site of the former Dixie Kitchen Cafe, we had kind of expected more diner-style fare, but Rik's is definitely a more upscale sit-down restaurant type experience. The prices are reasonable--more expensive than fast food but excellent for the quality--and the portions are good without being loaded with "filler", which is great because their desserts are excellent. My meal was a green salad with goat cheese, raspberries, and pine nuts, topped with a chicken breast. My companions had a salmon cake and a combination Cuban sandwich/cheeseburger. The food was delicious and the presentation was exquisite. Being in the neighborhood, I expect we'll be back to Rik's fairly often. read more

My wife and I went to Riks cafe to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary. We were blown away. The food was outstanding. We both had appetizers, my wife had the spinach and baby kale salad and I had the stuffed mozzarella with tomato. Both were excellent! For our entrees my wife had the tuna tacos and I had the salmon cakes. Her tuna tacos were very good with just a right amount of kick to them. My salmon cakes were awesome. No filler just pure salmon server over jasmine rice. We shared a bottle of wine seven daughters moscoto which we both enjoyed. For desert we shared the tera misou which we both loved. You can really taste the rum in it. The staff at Riks were really friendly and looked like they were having a great time. Our waiter sang while serving us and that just added to our awesome experience. I will definitely be back and look forward to trying other menu items. read more

I have been raving about this incredible restaurant since my first visit there almost two years ago! Today my children got to experience why I have said that this restaurant is SO very worth the trip as they took me there to celebrate Mother's Day. Like many, my daughter was a little skeptical when entering the strip mall and walking to the front door. But once inside, when she and her siblings got to experience the incredible food and the friendly and attentive service, they became fans. Our meal began with the crab pretzel and specialized draft beer and hard cider. Our meals were first class, from the famous crab cakes and sweet potato fries with apple butter, to the pork medallions. And my day ended on such a sweet note with the creme brulee and the macaroon. Hagerstowns best kept secret! We have passed by this place a hundred times and never even noticed it. A review of Yelp, while looking for something different, made us stop and give it a try. Glad we did. The service was incredible; knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Don't let the unassuming storefront fool you, the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable and the food was superb. Don't pass up the Mussels Caliente. The sauce is incredible and will have you asking for more toast points as you will want to make sure you get every last drop. I recently dined at Rik's cafe and was thoroughly impressed. The food was exceptional, with the highlight being the bourbon pork chop--hands down the best I've ever had. It was perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavor. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. My wife and I were given a gift certificate to Rik's. When we drove up we were a bit apprehensive because it is in a rather run down strip mall. Still, we had a gift card, so we went on in. Our wait staff was amazing, attentive but not bothersome and the food was delicious. The fried romaine lettuce salad was impeccable. I'm glad we went and and we will be back. read more

After seeing friends and coworkers enjoying Riks Cafe, I thought we'd give it a try while we were up in Hagerstown for the day. We got two spots at the bar, and everything from the staff to our cocktails, to our meal was wonderful. I got the chicken chesapeake, my partner got the daily special (swordfish and steak). This has to be the all time hidden gem of delicious food in the whole of Western Maryland. Food is always consistent, and uses fresh ingredients. I found this place using yelp. We are big on the small cafés and local restaurants. I tried the land and sea burger after looking at other reviews and it was great! Food came out hot and delicious.
