The restaurant itself has really gone downhill. The food is good but the service is lacking. I placed a to go order at the restaurant and the person who took my order not only up charged my order (charged for items separately instead of as a meal) but he also helped himself to a tip without asking me after I tapped my card. There was only one other person dining and it seems like they took a long time to bring her food out because she asked to pay for whatever had already come out and cancel the rest. Came here with a group of friends and I am honestly never really disappointed with Peruvian food. It is always so on point! My go to orders are usually the shrimp ceviche and the lomo saltado. Both dishes were delicious and I have no complaints at all. The prices of both of these items are well worth it and the white sangria is also soooooo good. Definitely check this place out! read more

One of my go-to places to order food from, normally they deliver pretty fast. One of my favorite plates is the Lomo Salteado is a very popular traditional dish from Peru, which consists of a stir fry that typically combines marinated strips of sirloin, with onions, tomatoes, French fries, and normally comes with white rice. The rice is pretty good is cook the Dominican style, which I like, the little curry that comes with the meat and onions gives that extra taste mixing with the white rice and the green and white sauces that come with, the strips of sirloin is kind of juicy the amount is a lot. This is with reference to the Riko Peruvian Cuisine in Jackson Heights. Firstly they attempt to add 20% automatically to a party of just two. Yes, two. Tip used to be included if the party were greater than 4. Secondly they invented this weird scam of asking you which cut of meat you want with your lomo saltado. Filet Mignon or Entrana or regular. I have never heard of this before. I'm Peruvian and born and raised in this neighborhood. I even texted family members who grew up in Peru and moved here and routinely eat at Peruvian restaurants all over, and they've never heard of this. Needless to say I ordered a Lomo Saltado with "regular" meat. I kind of knew what was coming, but I also couldn't believe they would actually do it. They did. The toughest wedges of meat came out with my Lomo Saltado. This is a very sneaky way of getting rid of their old and tough meat and punishing customers for not ponying up more money for a "Premium" Lomo Saltado, whatever that is supposed to mean. The punishment continues with the Lomo Saltado having the slimmest and saddest servings of onion. They look like pieces of onions scraped from other people's left over Lomo Saltado. This made me wonder if the filet mignon or entrana Lomo saltado comes with fresher and bigger portions of onions. Additionally, yes the music is too loud. The DJ is horrible. The only pro is that the ladies working there are pretty gorgeous. That said I'm not into sado-masochism, either for myself or my wallet. Do not go their. And honestly in this day and age of absurd and fluctuating tipping practices, I'd recommend asking the tipping policy of any restaurant on roosevelt before sitting down. Note: It pains me to write this actually. Because I am peruvian and proud of our gastronomy. Dishes like Lomo Saltado really should be integrated into the amercian food landscape. But Riko, particularly this riko, has disappointed so many times. Lastly their menu is seriously boring. There are so many better dishes that are distinctly peruvian that they do not include. After not having seen my mom for an entire 2 months, we decided to get together for a socially distant Mother's Day. As I was unable to treat her and my dad the way I normally do with a dinner out, we agreed to keep things simple and just order some Peruvian Roasted Chicken. Now that carryout on cocktails is legal under current laws, we also got their Tamarind Sangria as well. The chickens were HUGE, juicy. The Sangria was different, flavorful and very cleverly packed in two large soup containers. Needless to say the simple Mother's Day was made a little more special with this delicious food! The staff and patrons all kept social distance and the place was spotless. I will continue to order takeout from here and possibly cater for family functions and parties at home. Went here on a Saturday night around 6pm and it was delicious! We didn't have to wait for a table to be seated. It was great to have those roasted corn nuts and green sauce while we waited for everything to be brought out, in addition to a live band! For our order, we opted for the family option with the rotisserie chicken which came with a whole yummy Peruvian chicken, salad, rice and beans, and tostones. We also ordered the potatoes with spicy cheese sauce (so delicious!). I would have given this place a 5 stars if the Peruvian chicken was a bit fresher - it tasted as if it was made 2-3 hours ago, not right on the spot.. I ordered for pickup at 12/5/22 for my Mom's birthday. We've been ordering from this place since moving to Elmhurst in 2018. We've enjoyed their array of scrumptious dishes especially the Roast Pollo and Jalea. I understand that after covid, a lot businesses needed to increase their prices, but that doesn't mean they can lower the quality of their food. The first time I went to Riko, the service was terrible. We ordered the whole chicken and it was very dry. We thought maybe they just had a bad night so went a second time. The service and the food were a little better but there were two big issues. First, they had a DJ who kept playing with the lights, climbing up the ladder to clean the disco ball and incredibly loud music. I've been meaning to try out more Peruvian places in Queens because I've only been going to Pio Pio. Riko is a little more convenient than Pio Pio though so, I was hoping Riko could be my new go to. It's a few blocks away from the Roosevelt stop so basically a bunch of trains are nearby. I stopped by here because I wanted to buy some stuff to eat at home. I ordered their ceviche mixto and anticucho. I saw that they had a bar so I thought while I had my order waiting I'd order a Pisco sour. I wish I came during their happy hour because they have really good deals! The Pisco sour was not the best. I usually make my Pisco sours at home because most placed make them really weak. Riko was probably made the weakest Pisco sour I've ever had. I've been to a lot of Peruvian places where and I can tell when I'm being skimmed on it. The waiter did give me a nice watermelon shot which was super refreshing. The wait for my food wasn't too long. I think I waited about 15 minutes? However, when I was paying I noticed they already put tax. I wish I knew this because I actually ended up paying more. When I went home I noticed all the juices from the ceviche have leaked! The smell wasn't the best too so I actually had to take it outside my house so it wouldn't stink up the place. The ceviche was pretty solid though. They give you a good portion of seafood which I liked. The anticucho wasn't exactly my favorite. It wasn't as meaty and juicy as other places I've been to. They also cut the anticucho SUPER thin and I feel like it lacks a lot of the texture I get from a thicker cut. This event doesn't deter me from coming back though, I would like to try more of their other Peruvian dishes like lomo, chaufa, or chicken which I love trying at other Peruvian places. read more

What a beautiful place and great music and incredible food. Unfortunately the service was Horrible and disrespectful that makes me not want to ever come back. The change in waitress's was wrong and I've worked in Hospitality for many years. It gives the guests the impression of not being served. While I was still eating a fifth waitress tries to take my my plate with empty glass ware. What a depressing ending for such a Nice place to be at. There's always a way to handle situations but always wanting the customers to want to come back. Horrible experience, the chubby girl server suggested ordering "pecera de marisco" as a main entree enough to share with three people and when it got the the table 40% of it was seafood the rest of the cup was mostly corn onions and decoration and after making a complaint they did absolutely nothing besides acting like they did not care. after still being hungry and ordering another plate being the "paella" the rice was hard and not taste at all, no salt or good seasoning this place was a complete fraud, i wouldn't go there ever again read more

This place seems like it was recently renovated. Very clean and ambience was nice. All the staff wore masks. hand sanitizer were available upon arrival and on your table. They really took all the precaution measures to make it a safe clean environment for their guests during this crazy COVID time. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were in New York on a sightseeing/Rockefeller Center/eating tour and were craving Peruvian chicken. We did take out from Riko. We ordered the family combo, which included rice, beans, plantains, whole chicken and salad. I also ordered the Peruvian chicken soup which was a green soup with vegetables, which was wonderful. I can imagine how good this would have been if we would have eaten in not had to repeat this when we got back to our air B&B. So much food in this wonderful neighborhood of Jackson Heights. I am sure there are many wonderful Peruvian eateries here, but we had a great experience here. The night that we did take out there was live music and the staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was lively. We would definitely return! read more

So glad I decided to check this place out for myself during lunch. After reading some of the reviews I was skeptical about trying the lunch special for the 1/4 chicken. Not sure what all the others were talking about but the chicken was moist and so full of flavor as were the beans. We were greeted by a gentleman who gave us great recommendations and awesome service!! Hands down I have no complaints, I definitely plan on revisiting this place again during lunch while I'm here in town.
