Would give them negative numbers if available. Horrible experience. Very rude employees. Dirty.

La Potosina - Why is there sour cream and lettuce on top of the burrito?

Some of the service could be improved. Our favorite staff members are wonderful, a few however have a bit of trouble with their jobs. Sometimes they are super busy, apparently we're not the only ones who like them, yet things are consistently done in a timely and orderly way.

So, we saw good reviews on this place and tried it. After we left, these positive reviews either meant we came at a bad time or these people never ate at Fat Rosie's, La Mex or even Pepe's. FOOD: The menu is very large. Kind of not organized in my opinion. My fiance ordered a tostada and enchilada. I had the taco, chalupa and burrito. When we left, we both agreed that Taco Bell is so much better. The food was EXTREMELY salty. Her tostada was soggy with no meat on it. My chalupa? Not at all what I expected. Taco Bells chalupas are SO MUCH BETTER. My burrito was not even wrapped at the ends, food will fall out as I bit into it. We had the strawberry margaritas, which were very good and not watered down, so there is that. Service: Our waitress was nice and knew the menu. The only thing that I raised an eyebrow (and its not a big deal) was we asked for another basket of chips and salsa. Which was good! She left, started getting the bar ready and cleaning up. When she saw we were waving her down, we asked about the chips and salsa and she kind of got miffed about it. Ambiance: The decor was really nice. The establishment was very nice over all, but honestly, we will not be returning. To much sodium in the food.

OMG! The only reason I loved going to Indiana Beach was for the amazing tacos!…read more I was visiting a customer in Monticello looking for someplace for lunch. I got on Yelp of course! I saw The Taco Shoppe - one of the first review I read explained how the taco stand was no longer in Indiana Beach/ but had opened shop 1 mile from where I was! Trust me I knew this was the place for me!!! Anyone that has been to Indiana Beach must remember these delicious tacos! They are nothing fancy/ just ground beef lettuce snd cheese- with the AMAZING taco sauce! You order at a Windiw- pick up at the next- there are a few picnic tables. I noticed a steady stream of people walking up the steps to place orders! This is a must stop if you have fun memories of the tacos at Indiana Beach!

There's something to be said about knowing your strengths and understanding your clientele. If…read moreyou've ever been to Indiana Beach on Lake Shafer, you've probably had tacos from the now closed Taco Shoppe. It was a staple for years at the amusement park, and gained such a following that when they closed a few years back, their regulars (myself included) were devastated. So much so that the owners decided to re-open the business about three miles away in downtown Monticello, IN. The recipe for their success is a simple one. Keep the menu simple. Find a niche product that differentiates your establishment from the dozens of other taco joints in the area and only open for a select amount of time so that you always leave them wanting more. The Taco Shoppe is a carry-out only and has no inside seating at all. In fact, there's no "inside" of the business. You order from one window and pick up your food from another. There's a handful of picnic tables in the lot next door, but that's it. So what's the secret??? Tough to describe. First of all, the soft shell corn tortillas are flash fried, maybe?!? Whatever they do to them, they are delicious. Their ground beef is also kind of a mystery. It's unlike any beef taco I've had before, and my fat ass has had PLENTY of tacos in my 52 years. They serve the tacos with red sauce (mild) and green sauce (hot). They are both amazing. Their red sauce is on the sweeter side, and I can't compare it to anything else really... Like everything else about this place, it's totally unique. The Taco Shoppe is one of those places that if you know about it.... you know. You get it.

I ordered the filet mignon with asparagus. The steak was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The asparagus was fresh and had great flavor. My mom was craving the fried shrimp, mashed potatoes, and mac. She loved it all and I was even stealing her mashed potatoes it was so good! Service and food was 5 stars. Giving 4 stars because the inside could use a little more ambience or aesthetic.

The restaurant lacks a distinct ambiance. It needs to work on the interior design. Ambiance plays a significant role in making an amazing dining experience. The service was great. The bartender was quick and efficient. He was very friendly and recommended several different entrees and appetizers. I would come back to have a drink at the bar without a problem! He brought water and a bread basket. I wish he was more educated on what type of bread was being served. Overall he was attentive and ensured that my to-go order was packed correctly. My mom had the bbq baby back ribs. She said the baked potato tasted better than the ribs and that she prefers the ribs at TGIFridays over Trios. Which was kinda disappointing because we live relatively close to Trios and it's the only nicer restaurant in Watseka. Her onion rings were lightly breaded and tasted great! I had the salmon with asparagus and Mac n cheese. It was cooked perfectly. However, it lacked flavor. The asparagus had more seasoning and taste than the salmon. They should try some different seasonings. Too bland for me. The asparagus was surprisingly delicious and I would come back just for it. The Mac n cheese was disappointing. I advise to get the onion rings. It's a large portion of onion rings that are prepared fresh to order in a light batter. I doubt I would return for the main dishes. I hope they change things up.
