I tried the turkey and cheese quesadillas, which is the first time I've ever had turkey in a quesadilla, and it was good. Not sure I would get it again, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good. After trying multiple tacos trucks in town, we decided to go with Fernando's food truck for our ~80 person wedding reception. Confirmed the reception details via call and text 4 months before the event, with another check in a week before. However, they did not show up nor reach out: NO CALLED, NO SHOWED. After us calling them multiple times and texting, they eventually responded that they had a family emergency. Though I understand these things can happen, would have really appreciated a heads up. Luckily the venue manager was able to call and get Juanito's Tacos to come save the day. Within an hour, Juanito's Tacos arrived was serving up delicious food. I love Fernando's! I usually go to their food truck which is conveniently located on the corner of Green & Wright, a very busy cross section near campus. They are open around lunch time and are gone by the afternoon. The tacos are ~$3 each and are very generous with the portioning of the meat. I love their steak tacos, and my boyfriend loves their al pastor-- both very rich and flavorful. The workers are very kind, personable, and offer extra sauces to go with your meal. I have very little complaints about this place other than the fact that I wish their food truck was open 24/7! read more

Purposely messed up my order and the name of my order. Had an idgaf attitude when you tell them nicely that it's not correct. I just moved to Champaign in August and I'm excited to try all of the local spots! Last night I got to start with Fernando's. I'm especially fond of food trucks as my mom and I started our own in 2019 (she's still running it out of state). The guy that took my order was very polite and helpful. I was a little thrown off when he said they don't serve rice and beans- a staple at most Mexican food trucks. He reassured me that the burrito was still a good size and he wasn't wrong! I've only had one other food truck before that didn't include beans and rice in their burritos and it was MUCH smaller than the one here. I will say I'm impressed by the pricing based on how much is in the burrito but I do think rice and beans would be an improvement. They act almost as a caking agent and bind all the other ingredients together to form a more solid burrito and provide a little more sustenance. The flavor was good although the meat (Pastor) could've used a little more seasoning and the texture wasn't my favorite. I would prefer if it was shredded instead of leaving it chopped. The hot sauces were GREAT! Overall the ingredients tasted fresh and I enjoyed my food. I hate to harp over something as simple as rice and beans but if I ordered here again I would make some and add them to the burrito myself I would've also loved some avocado or guacamole but that's a song for another time! read more

I love being able to get tacos de lengua (tongue) and other items that you don't usually see around town. The proprietor is friendly and service is quick as you'd expect. It was the worst experience ever! First, we went to the address that showed on the Yelp site for takeout and the truck was not there. Then we checked the Facebook page, not at that listed address either. We looked for a post to see if they would post where the truck is that night or a schedule, nothing! Have had food from here 3-4x in the past few months. Just picked up steak nachos and beef quesadillas from downtown champaign and couldn't be happier. The nachos are amazing with ample amount of meat and toppings, and the quesadilla is enough for two people as a snack or one person as a meal. So happy Fernando's is downtown multiple times a week. The staff is super nice and gave a good amount of hot sauce - some vendors can be cheap with extras like sauce. It took less than 5 min from ordering to food being ready and everything was fresh.
