This was really delicious. My husband and son really enjoyed it as well. They had the chicken on the beach. I had the fajitas. Service was good and the chips and salsa were the star. I felt like my fajitas could have used more seasonings. read more

Had dinner with friends and the meal was pretty good but the chips and salsa were something else, the chips were mixed with old batches and some of them tasted rancid and it was so hot inside that the salsa and guacamole were turning brown in the bowl and on the plates it wasn't very appealing we mentioned this to the staff and they said it couldn't be changed. Personally I don't like to sweat while eating that's why we go out. I will spend my money elsewhere. It will be a long time before we go back if we go back it just seems like they didn't care. read more

I ordered a Steak Chimichanga and a Chicken Fajitas Nachos. Both are delicious! The serving people are very nice. read more

The food was basically inedible and clearly store bought chips, salsa, guacamole...nothing fresh or flavorful; the texture of the guacamole was disgusting...more like plastic, slimy pudding....the salsa also was disgusting; both had pronounced unpleasant flavors....can't believe anyone with even a marginal palate would find the food acceptable... Not sure what they are playing at here, but virtually every single other Mexican restaurant in town is far superior... read more

Harder to get to Mexican restaurant out of the way a bit. It's a ways from the busy parts of Urbana. Casa Del Mar has good drinks and food. Opens kind of early for some Mexican. That means you can go earlier and get your party on, for sure. After having breakfast, it was time for lunch. It was still early but this place was already open. There were already a few customers before us. Kind of a ways to get to from the main stuff close to the college crap. We each got a Lime Margarita. It's about $5 for a regular, which was still a good amount. This was not too salty but it was pretty strong. Food isn't authentic but not complaining. We got the Three Veggie Tacos. It's about $9 and these come loaded. Lots of avocados, tomatoes, and more. Filling. This was a good lunch. Come here for some Americanized yet good Mexican food. It's pretty okay prices. They have plenty for vegans and vegetarians. read more

Favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. Service is so nice and quick. It's family friendly, and the food and drinks are great. We've never had to wait for seating or too long for food. read more

The fish fajita was full of crab meat imitation. Do not get it. The only seafood is tilapia and shrimps. Margaritas are good and cheap $6.

In my opion, it's the best Mexican restaurant in Urbana, Illinois. The food was delicious. The waiting on the table was wonderful. Highly recommended. read more

Food is good and customer service great. We like to sit outside when the weather permits and enjoy the pond it is located by.

The service is top-notch. I didn't have to wait to be seated and was brought water, chips and salsa right away. It took little time to receive my order, which was attractively presented. However, the food was mediocre. The salsa is not fresh, but canned. The chicken in my burito was tough and stringy. It tasted like it had been in the fridge a while after cooking. The sauces were fairly flavorless. When I received the bill, there was an unexpected charge for using a credit card. Since I wanted to pay cash, I had to ask the server for a new bill, taking extra time. I tipped well for the good service, but I'm not sure I would go back because of the food quality. read more

What is about this restaurant that they just have it going on. From the moment you walk in, they let you sit where you are most comfortable. The help is always plentiful, friendly and competent. They pay attention to you and are happy to bring more chips and salsa and drinks. The food, well I've never had one complaint about anything I've ever eaten there. It's simply a favorite place to meet a friend for lunch or dinner. It's usually quiet enough to carry on a conversation. The place has nice ambience and sitting outside in nice weather is a bonus. read more

I find is super rare to eat out these day, and if I choose to go out to eat, I always like to make sure there is adequate outdoor seating and social distancing. I did some research and came across Casa Del Mar since I read several reviews saying their outdoor seating is great. Good thing I came here because their patio seating and outdoor seating options are great! It was a little chilly outside, but the view from our table was nice and we were seated under the tent. We were served warm tortilla chips and salsa, which were delicious. The meal itself was okay. Prices are a tad steep, but all in all, it was a great (and comfortable) experience read more

I would have to say this was the best Mexican restaurant I have been to for authentic Mexican food. Service was excellent. Chips and salsa were fantastic. read more

We usually dine in but we're just exhausted from the week. Their takeout is just as killer as their dine experience. The food is quick and always delicious. Our kids are picky and will only eat ground beef tacos with cheese. But then they have amazing seafood dishes like my fave, Arroz con Mariscos- always a nice helping of shrimp and scallops. My husband almost always gets the Camarones mexicanos because he loves the fresh green peppers and onions included in the dish. In the past I have gotten the Carne Asada and it was yummy! read more

Nice little place! I went on a Wednesday and they had $9.99 pitchers of margaritas! I got the banana because I tried one somewhere else and it was not as good. It tasted like a lime one with a little bit of a banana flavor. I loved the pitcher size though. One was good enough for me. I'm sure it was supposed to be shared because he asked if I wanted cups lol, but I was like "Nah, I'm good! Just two straws please!" Definitely a good spot for margaritas! I also tried their California fries, which is steak and queso on top of the fries.. it was yummy! I don't always like Mexican dishes so a place that has fries some kind of way always makes me happy lol read more

Food was mediocre to bad. Salsa and guacamole seemed to be store bought or made with low quality ingredients. Salad was served as a pile of iceberg lettuce with a glob of sour cream in the middle. Do not go here if you want authentic Mexican food, what they serve here is salty slop that tastes like a microwave meal gone wrong Service was nice though read more

Great service & nice atmosphere. Food was above average. Location was somewhat convenient.

Casa Del Mar - They have ROACHES!! - Mexican Near Me - Urbana, Illinois

Best outdoor setting. Best service. Best food. Clean restrooms. At inside seating you can hear everyone at your table. NO very loud music. It opens at 10:30, which is appreciated. Do give it a try, it will soon become your favorite place to grab a snack, have happy hour or a long dinner with friends. read more

I've been here a couple of times and I'm impressed! It has all of your regular Mexican restaurant fixings but with a fair amount of seafood dishes that I haven't tried anywhere else. In terms of their regular dishes, they are good, but you gotta go for the seafood. I get a plate that is called Ballarta plate which is a seafood mix over rice and topped with a cheese sauce, so good! They use large and quality shrimp, although the crab meat is imitation. I imagine this is to keep the prices reasonable as most plates are under $15. The service is always friendly and inviting. The location is large and they can accommodate for large groups. read more

Casa Del Mar - Chori-pollo. Can't go wrong with bacon and chorizo over chicken! - Mexican Near Me - Urbana, Illinois

Staff is always friendly and attentive, good drink specials and great portion sizes, lots of patio space with a view, favorite quick Mexican spot in the area read more

Really good food and service clean and the food came out fast and sat us done really quick

Located next to a beautiful lake and walking path, Casa del Mar is a little bit of a drive if you're not in East Urbana, but it's well worth the drive. We were seated immediately and the wait staff was excellent. Our table was visited frequently (but not too much), and we really felt cared for. The chips and salsa were just average, about the same quality as any Mexican restaurant. I ordered the Hawaiian fajitas, and my goodness, they were phenomenal. It was one of the more price items on the menu (which was still really reasonable), but they made up for it in portion size and flavor. The pineapple was fresh, the chorizo was delicious, and by the end of the meal, I couldn't have eaten another bite. Between the food, the decor, and the excellent staff, Casa del Mar is an Urbana must. I look forward to my next visit when I'm back in town. read more

The food taste good, very similar to el Toro. It's not super authentic but it's still good. The prices are decent and it's a great place to come eat. I complain about their " to go" plates. The serving sizes are a lot smaller, they barely give you salsa, and if a dish has queso, they will sprinkle a few drops of it. In restaurant experience 5/5, carry out experience 3/5 read more

First time there and I was pleasant satisfied. I ordered the Seafood fajitas which had tilapia, fake crab meat, shrimp and it came with rice, beans and other trimmings. My friend had casa del mar seafood dish which is tilapia, shrimp, rice, and veggies. Best fajitas I have had ever. Five stars on flavor, portion, and presentation. Yum, yum, yum...so good can't wait to try some of their other dishes as well. My friend also loved his food. However we didn't care for their chips and salsa. It wasn't rich enough and tasted more like tomato sauce. If you love great Mexican food you must try this place. read more

Best Mexican food in the twin cities! My new favorite for sure. I love the atmosphere and the service. The menu has a wide variety.

I'm very happy with the food and service. The tamales were excellent, and the chimichanga was bursting with chicken. The coconut flan was perfect for dessert. Great selection of food available, and there is a full bar. Very clean with a casual atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!! read more

I've been here two times now. I didn't like it the first time, and tried to give it a second chance. The second time I went here, it was absolutely awful. I ordered several burritos. Never in my life have I just gotten a burrito with just meat in it. It didn't have any veggies or beans like other restaurants. Plus, the meat burritos were way too salty. I also ordered tacos, and they were okay. Chips and salsa are okay. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant at all. There are much better Mexican restaurants in this town. read more

Really good shrimp dish. Worst chips and corn tortillas I've ever tasted. Decent salsa, but flavorless guacamole. The view outdoors is lovely, but the clientele is some nightmare combination of Chucky Cheese meets Applebee's. I recommend the take out. read more
