Since I live in Florida and because German Auto Service was familiar with the car, I called and wanted to talk with someone who knew the car. Josh returned my call and he assured me that other than an interior door handle the car was in great condition. I then asked if I needed them to perform a pre-purchase inspection and he told me that it was not necessary. I'm not blaming German Auto Service for the fact that the car was delivered without the air conditioning in working order but that is not the end of the problems. European Starr, a service facility in Sarasota, Florida who specializes in classic Mercedes Benz cars has just given me the four page list of what is wrong with the car which totals to just over $12,000. Needless to say, if Josh had been honest with me or told me that they would do a pre-purchase inspection, I would not be in this situation now. They are not 100% to blame as Garage Kept Motors also claimed the car was perfect.

However, I brought my car to have them repair my power steering repaired. They called me and told me that it was fixed. But when I arrived at home my power steering was still leaking and I had to keep putting power steering fluid to work. I took my car back to them again to fix it. Once again they told me it was repaired. A few days later my wife was stranded while shopping for over an hour because the hose that they replaced was an inferior hose. I had to take my car to another repair shop and they told me that whoever replaced that hose was not a proper hose and it didn't even have a clamp on it. I called Quality Break and Auto repair being that they didn't do the job correctly after two times of bringing my vehicle to their shop. I called them to ask that some of he money be returned to me being that I had to pay over $600.00 again to actually have it repaired correctly. I was told that there was nothing they could do! I'm a prior Veteran who is 68 years old and on Social Security we don't receive a lot of money from Social Security. one would think that they would stand by their work, but not so!!! So much for being honest. One thing is for sure they lost a customer!

So my emotional state went from a $2000 job (ugghhh!!!) to a $5 replacement cap (yeah, beer's on me tonight). CAS gave GREAT advice over the phone before I ever took the car into for an inspection. The service was quick (same day) as they ran pressure tests to confirm that it was truly nothing more than a broken cap seal. So the final bill was $60. I felt that I got honest, sincere advice from the mechanics and staff. Everything was explained clearly including my options for other attention the car might be needing. I am a "preventative maintenance" guy so this was right up my alley. I value reliability, not repair and I felt that CAS offered the same philosophy. I definitely will be going back to CAS giving them some additional opportunity to retain this 5 star rating.

They got the car "fixed" quickly which was great. However they claimed it was something loose with my parking break. I barely drove it down the road and noticed nothing was different. I was once told by a dealer's service department where I bought the car that my car needed brakes and it was unsafe to drive home. This didn't sit well given the car's mileage so I took the car to Spaanstra Bros. They showed me that my brakes were well within the safe operating level. Ten thousand miles later, I had the brakes done and they were still good although getting close to needing replacement. Of the repairs and service I've had done here over the years, they may not be the least expensive, but I feel I'm receiving value as a result of their competence and honesty. Highly recommended.
