I was once told by a dealer's service department where I bought the car that my car needed brakes and it was unsafe to drive home. This didn't sit well given the car's mileage so I took the car to Spaanstra Bros. They showed me that my brakes were well within the safe operating level. Ten thousand miles later, I had the brakes done and they were still good although getting close to needing replacement. Of the repairs and service I've had done here over the years, they may not be the least expensive, but I feel I'm receiving value as a result of their competence and honesty. Highly recommended.

Josh returned my call and he assured me that other than an interior door handle the car was in great condition. I then asked if I needed them to perform a pre-purchase inspection and he told me that it was not necessary. I'm not blaming German Auto Service for the fact that the car was delivered without the air conditioning in working order but that is not the end of the problems. European Starr, a service facility in Sarasota, Florida who specializes in classic Mercedes Benz cars has just given me the four page list of what is wrong with the car which totals to just over $12,000. Needless to say, if Josh had been honest with me or told me that they would do a pre-purchase inspection, I would not be in this situation now. They are not 100% to blame as Garage Kept Motors also claimed the car was perfect.

Aside from their archaic bookkeeping and scheduling method, these past few years of service have left me questioning. Let me start with the most recent issue. I brought my 2005 vehicle in for maintenance November 2024 and ended up with a considerable degree of rear tire/breaks/lines work amounting to almost $900. This past Wednesday (March 5, 2025), while driving to the east side of Michigan for a visit, I was almost to my destination when I heard a loud bang or pop and thought I lost a piece of my car; followed by loud piercing whistle and then the smell of burning rubber. I slowed and eased over off the road to find a flat rear passenger tire. Towed to Belle Tire to find out the entire back frame was rusted through. It jutted out and caused a rubbing against the tire, which finally blew. The gentleman who inspected the tire couldn't believe the outcome wasn't worse. When I mentioned the work back in November, he was shocked the condition of the frame did not alarm anyone and said they (Belle) could not, with good conscious, replace the tire to let me drive off when the outcome could be so very dangerous and not end well. Wouldn't you think that this degree of corrosion would have been noticeable back in November? Sadly, I will not be returning to Jack's for service on any future vehicles.

However, I brought my car to have them repair my power steering repaired. They called me and told me that it was fixed. But when I arrived at home my power steering was still leaking and I had to keep putting power steering fluid to work. I took my car back to them again to fix it. Once again they told me it was repaired. A few days later my wife was stranded while shopping for over an hour because the hose that they replaced was an inferior hose. I had to take my car to another repair shop and they told me that whoever replaced that hose was not a proper hose and it didn't even have a clamp on it. I called Quality Break and Auto repair being that they didn't do the job correctly after two times of bringing my vehicle to their shop. I called them to ask that some of he money be returned to me being that I had to pay over $600.00 again to actually have it repaired correctly. I was told that there was nothing they could do! I'm a prior Veteran who is 68 years old and on Social Security we don't receive a lot of money from Social Security. one would think that they would stand by their work, but not so!!! So much for being honest. One thing is for sure they lost a customer!
