My dryer that was purchased at Riester's in Auburn is broken. I called the repair office for weeks. I left messages. My boyfriend called. Every time we called either nobody answered and we left voicemails or we chose the "Sales" option and a sales person would take a message. I was loyal to Riester's, biying my last 4 washers and dryers there, but I will not shop there again. If customer service is that bad, they can keep their appliances. read more

My journey with Reisters started on June 10th when a technician came to my house to assess a problem I had with a GE appliance still under warranty. The technician said he needed to order a part & would call to let me know when the part was in. At the end of July I called, was told the part was in. I needed to be out of town for a few weeks and scheduled service for August 18th. August 18th came and went....no call, no show. The following 2 weeks were a repeat...scheduled appointments but no call, no show. On September 3rd the owner called, very apologetic and assured me it was all their fault and they would make it right for me the following week. It is now September 23rd, 20 days later and AGAIN... no call, no show. How incredibly disrespectful! We had to call GE to send out a technician who came and addressed our issue. Integrity matters. Repair service? What repair service? My husband called to have our dryer repaired and was told Thursday. On Wednesday he called to confirm the time and was told he never called. Rescheduled for Tuesday morning. Mikey the service manager promised to order the parts and put them in the truck so we'd be all set. Called Mikey to confirm Tuesday morning and we weren't even on the schedule. They squeezed us in late in the day and guess what? No parts. Promised repair in the following Tuesday and when the tech no showed between 10-2 my husband called and was told Reisters was no longer willing to service us after today. Great- I'm tired of canceling appointments and work to be here when no one is showing up. oh and sales are terrible too- we bought a washer in October 2020 And was told delivery in two weeks. Called every two week and got my washer around Christmas. Had specifically chosen Reisters bc another company had said they couldn't get the washer until early December. 100% dissatisfied. Not once were we treated fairly or did Reisters do what they said they would. read more

If you are expecting good customer service by going with this small family owned business, you are seriously mistaken. You are better off buying your appliances from the big box stores. Two ranges and 30 days later, we recently discovered a gas leak and asked to have the gas fitting replaced and was told only the range itself was under warranty - not the installation. Took over 2 months to repair my dishwasher. They would call with an automated service at 3pm telling me to be present from 10am-1pm the following day. They cancelled on me on times I took off to wait at my house. Technicians are incompetent are ordered the wrong part delaying the entire repair. I would rather buy a new dishwasher then deal with them again to repair something covered under warranty. read more

Riesters Service Dept. leaves much to be desired. I have been dealing for over a month with a broken fridge and the service team over there literally has no clue on what to do. Twice now I have stayed home from work to wait for a call on their ETA and twice they have said" oh we can't get someone over there even though you are scheduled." I would not recommend Riesters to anyone for any reason, they are unknowledgeable regarding appliance repair, charge a high rate for less than quality service and do not issue timely refunds. I called for an appointment to repair my Maytag drier (I have a family of 5). I could not get an appointment for 1 week. Two staff showed up and were there for an hour and could not figure out the problem. They ordered a switch for the repair and stated that the part would be in in 1-3 days. I paid them in advance $300 for the service call and the parts. They showed up 1 week later, the part did not fix the problem so they ordered additional parts. I could not reach them for several days after leaving several messages. When I finally go ahold of them, I requested a full refund. I was told by the service manager that they would issue it that day. 3 weeks later, I have not received my refund and they will not return any of my calls. I will be taking them to small claims court if my refund does not show up by the end of this week. read more

CWM Have been a land lord in Auburn NY for 50+ years. Had a problem with a refrigerator and my regular repair man was not available so I called Riesters for service. Repairman was on x . After years of rentals and refrigerator repairs, some that I was able to repair, I had a general idea of what my problem was not. The repairman came from the outside into the kitchen and with out getting past the door way and with out any check / test immediately said " needs a condenser". As this was an expensive repair I tried to get an explanation as to how he arrived at that diagnosis from the door way which was very upsetting to him to the extent that an argument seemed forthcoming and I canceled any repairs until my regular repair man was available to fix the refrigerator without a costly condenser. carrmagel@gmail.com read more

Don't do it....In 2013 we bought a stainless Frigidaire refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and microwave from this place when we remodeled our kitchen. I should have taken the clue when we made this purchase of nearly $5000 and it was all they could do to get off their chair to assist us. I was told that these appliances are different from the big box stores, they're better quality and the small town business will stand behind their products and service. Into the second year of owning these appliances rust began to appear on the refrigerator just below the door handles of the double doors so I called them. They informed me that the warranty did not cover any part of the appliances unless it is something with the motor, etc., nothing cosmetic. Fast forward another year and the door on the microwave wouldn't latch. Once again I called for service and after a couple of weeks called back and they eventually sent out a service person. He walked in, looked at the microwave door and said he needs to order a part. After several weeks (with no microwave) I called back to see what the problem is with getting the part. They informed me that the service person would be coming within the week, which he did. There was no part and he told me we would have to order an entire new door but he would attach the spring to another piece so we could use it. That was back in July of 2017. We are still using the microwave but have now been billed $162.00 for two service calls of which $150.00 is labor.....really?!?!? I've called them twice and asked to have half of these charges taken off being that there was no "labor" only about 15 minutes (total) spent at our home. They told me that the charges are the service charges "for this area" and they charge a minimum of one hour per call. NEVER again will I deal with this place and I hope others don't as well. Go to the big box store where customers matter. We always try and do business locally but this is a lesson learned. read more

I really wanted to purchase a washing machine from a small family owned business. I go in and there's one person working and one customer, do not even get greeted! I walk around for a good 15 minutes still not even acknowledged! Very very poor customer service! Never had that problem when the owners were there! Sad enough I had to go and purchase one from Lowes! read more

Like all the others , service is a huge factor and so is customer service ! The problem lies in the service department , NOT the techs ! Waiting almost 2 months to get something scheduled correctly and yes the wait time is crazy ! Like the others in the prior reviews , sitting around waiting on different days is a complete waste of time. My landlord bought a refrigerator from Riester's. As soon as my landlord was made aware that there was ice building up in the self-defrosting freezer, he called. There is also a lot of water coming from somewhere and landing on the top glass shelf. Riester's reported knowing there was a factory defect. They came and put a new seal to stop the ice but didn't have the part to stop the water draining from the freezer. They were going to order it. They never did. When the landlord called them, they said they fixed it. He said no you didn't. The part wasn't on your truck. They were going to order it and come back. A year went by and he never heard from them. The landlord called after I told him the problem still wasn't fixed. They set up an appointment and never showed. When called they set up another appointment and came without the needed part. They told the landlord to put a coffee cup in the refrigerator to catch the water.They were going to order the part and it would take 3-5 days to come in. It has been over 10 days and nothing has been repaired. I would not recommend this place for anything. You can buy an appliance any where but service is what matters after the sale and these people just don't get it. I think they may have changed owners because they used to have a very good reputation. Not anymore. read more

Horrible experience. Have had chronic Bosch dishwasher problem - Bosch itself would only pay for a "diagnostic" by one of their "authorized" service companies, which turned out to be Riester's. (Bosch's choice, not mine.) Worker who seemed intelligent and communicative came to my home, thoroughly examined dishwasher, gave diagnosis - which would have had Bosch paying for a new control board, which he very clearly and definitively said was the problem. (Another person was there to hear this diagnosis, as well.) (Another authorized Bosch service company, CNY Appliance - who has been great on other occasions and whom I would highly recommend - had said the same thing, but the guy broke his leg and was out of commission before he could make it official - thus, Riester's.) The repairman assured me that this was in his report, which he said would definitely be sent to me by the end of that day - along with the order for the replacement part. He even said that if I called Bosch that Tuesday, I might get them to expedite the arrival of the replacement part - he strongly recommended doing this. But the report was NOT sent to me; I heard nothing back from Riester's at all. Pursuing it two weeks later, I was given a bit of a runaround and finally passed to the service manager, who did then finally email me the report. The report I received, two weeks late, was completely inconsistent with what the repairman who visited and wrote the report had said. It had been doctored to say "No problem found" and "believe issue was with installation." When I asked why the report had been withheld from me for two weeks, he simply said he didn't know. When I asked why it did not say what the on-site repairman had said he had written, the service manager told me that the repairman was "inexperienced" and had only been with them for six months, so someone else, who had not been to my house and never saw the dishwasher at all, "corrected" the report that was sent to Bosch. When I pursued this, he became rude and aggressive. The upshot: why does Riester's, the "authorized" Bosch repair service, send out a workman whom they consider to be too "inexperienced" to write an accurate report in the first place? And why do they have the report altered by someone who has not seen the appliance at all? Whether it's incompetence, or dishonesty, or a combination, I don't know. I suspect something of a "special" relationship between Riester's and Bosch (perhaps they are "authorized" to save Bosch money by not reporting a problem that would be expensive to fix? - my best guess). Or perhaps they just send out "inexperienced" repairmen they don't trust and maybe don't have to pay as much as someone sufficiently "experienced" so they can get there quickly and bill Bosch? I don't know. But I do know that I still have a nonfunctional dishwasher, and have reached the end of the road of possibilities. (Bosch has been horrendous as well - and has strung me along for three years; I've paid more for fruitless "repairs" than for the dishwasher itself, and Riester's was the end of the road, though the final "diagnosis" was on Bosch's dime.) read more

Called for service on my washing machine. They came the very next morning. It was a repairwoman (which totally impressed me). Within 30 minutes the machine was fixed. Dependable, reliable, efficient...can't say enough. read more

I could not have been happier with the service from this company. They were absolutely wonderful. Everyone I spoke with on the phone, from the service manager to the receptionist could not have been any more professional, friendly and helpful. The serviceman was scheduled immediately. My refrigerator was not cooling. I was called back to confirm a 4 hour window for service. He arrived promptly and was very knowledgable, and courteous. Did a great job. I called Reister's for a second refrigerator needing a new ice maker. They came out and fixed the ice maker, but I needed to call them back becasue the arm of the maker wasn't falling back into place. They came right back, no charge and installed ANOTHer brand new ice maker. Works perfectly. I loved this complany and I already recommended them to my friends here in the Finger Lakes Area who have had all sorts of problems with other appliance repair companies, as had I in the past. I am so happy I found these people. You won't be disappointed. read more

we purchased a stack up washer and dryer 10-24-2014 just 1 month we to call to get it repair. 6 months later it did the same thing. washer would not work. almost 1 year the washer did it again. called Riester's for a 3rd time for the same problem. not even a year old. they told us our warrant will run out so we should get an extended warrant. Riester's gave us a 800 number to call. we got it for 5 years $500 so now 1 1/2 year the washer broke again. called Riester's and they said they do not do warrant with them. how can a 1 1/2 year old washer break down this many time and Riesters would not even help us. so if shopping at Riester's be very careful. I will go to Low's and not to a local appliances. read more
