I had a dishwasher that wasn't working so cleaning dishes for an entire family was an emergency to me. Not at all satisfied. We had (and still have) a dishwasher leak. Tech came out and couldn't find the issue. No parts were replaced and the labor involved was more a high level discussion on what "could" be an issue since he couldn't reproduce it right away. Turns out we didn't wait long enough to reproduce the leak. Tech claimed that it could be an issue with the door not closing all the way and to replace a faulty roller on the upper tray - which we did, and had no correlation to do leak. He also suggested that it could've been the seal but didn't replace it or reinstall it. Charged me $224.62 for the service call! Giving it 2 stars because the tech did feel bad and gave me his personal cell number to call him if the change to the faulty roller didn't fix the issue. Update - called the tech for a followup and he suggested that we should probably replace the seal. But here's the kicker - he wants to charge me for another service call! Rather spend my money towards a new dishwasher. read more

Tech showed up when he was supposed to. I described the problem, and without looking at anything, he told me "two hundred ninety-nine for the repair". They make a big point of saying a service call is 85 dollars on their site, so I mentioned that. He said that with parts and labor, it would be two hundred ninety-nine plus taxes. I should have told him to leave right then, but I'm going on a trip tomorrow and can't have my fridge leaking. Maybe he knew he had me. Whatever. His "parts and labor" consisted of spending five minutes turning a small pipe valve by hand, cutting a tube, slapping on one small plastic tube connector, and then proceeding to tell me how his daughter wants to marry "a guy who wears a Pornhub hat" for ten more minutes. Did he do the job? Yes. Did he bend me over a barrel and deliberately overcharge me? Also yes. I hope he has to pay through the nose for that wedding. read more

I recently had a dishwasher repair and had them come out to diagnose the problem. what started out as $79.50 turned out to be $161.12 because I inquired about another appliance while he was there. However instead of informing me he would need to charge me up front for the additional diagnosis of the 2nd appliance he just charged me and told me thereafter. I wasn't upset about that but it left me feeling slightly uneasy. Long story short the dishwasher repair of a door replacement he told me was going to be expensive. I had done a little research before he came and priced the actual replacement part so I knew how much the part was ahead of time which was a little over $100. Somehow I ended up being quote $351 for the charge for the service. Reluctantly I agreed. Once he came and repaired the item the service itself was fine but, when I checked my bank statement later I discovered that I was charged an addl $40. When I called back to ask he said oh it is the sales tax. When I still balked a bit at the fact that $40 was more than the %8 NYS sales tax he said oh its also a fee to charge the card. However no such fee was on the first visit. Most repair or service work I have ever had the diagnosis of the problem is part of the final cost of the repair costs. Needless to say I had another repair of the 2nd appliance as I mentioned in the beginning of the review that we will not use them for as per the service rep, it is a panel that needs replacement for $390-and someone on a review in 2018 stated the same repair would be $290. I feel like there is some element of dishonesty in the repair costs with this business. Very disappointed. read more

I called AAS on Wednesday 8:00 A.M. 06/10/20 called back 8:15 A.M.. Made an appointment to come between 11:00 and 2:30 P.M. came a little after 3:00 P.M.. Look at the refrigerator 25 min. latter had the refrigerator back together and working. Had the part on the truck. The repair was little expensive but gave you a chance to say no or yes on the repair. Same day repair you have to expect to pay a little more and when you have the parts in inventory on your truck that adds to the cost. Saying all that I would recommend and call this shop again. The refrigerator was not getting cold enough fast enough and I called around 6:30 P.M and to my surprise He called me back around 7:00 P.M. and explained that it would take up to 24 hours to recycle itself. Update 2/27: So we had a different company come and it turns out that Pete misdiagnosed the problem. He had said it was the control board and it would cost us $290 on top of the $140 we paid...it ended up being a different part and cost only $170 total. We would have saved $140 going with this other company but now we learned the hard way that Automatic Appliance is not worth the time or money. So if we had gone with Automatic Appliance it would have been only a matter of time until he had to come back again...and charge us, AGAIN Edit: You can also look here on Yelp where he is either posing as a happy customer or recruiting family/friends to post positive reviews. Yelp weeds out "unverified reviews" so it doesn't impact the rating for the company so you have to go to unverified reviews to read them. He made up personal information about my fiance and I and had people include that in their reviews. He or his buddy also revert to name calling. This is probably the most unprofessional "business" I have ever encountered. Please look elsewhere and save yourself the headache. In other reviews he made up that he came here 3 times (came here 2x) and that he never diagnosed a problem (he advised us the dishwasher needed a new control board and wanted $290). He will do whatever in an attempt to save face. Please message me if you have any questions regarding Pete's "business." I would be more than happy to share our experience with you and share with you the receipts, voicemails and the real experience. An individual named Pete came to our house and looked at our broken dishwasher. He got it working in 15 minutes and the charge was $140. 2 months later the EXACT same issue happened. Pete came back out looked at it and said it needed a part that he couldn't have diagnosed the first time, when we paid $140. He now said we needed to pay another $290 which included the part, service fee, and labor. I tried to talk to him about the price since we already paid $140 but he told me that "we were costing him money on this one" and this "was a deal." I decided to give another place a call, a place that hadn't been out here for $140 to not fix the problem, and was quoted at $200. I left a negative review for the business on google and Pete contacted my fiance and left her multiple messages offering her refunds to take the posts down. He then responded to the posts very unprofessionally as you can see if you Google search the company. They are unprofessional and do not do good work. Don't be fooled by the reviews it's because the people who leave negative reviews get offered refunds to remove those reviews. read more

My washer stopped working and the problem was beyond my basic knowledge and a glance at YouTube videos so I called this place. Washer had stopped mid-cycle and they had Pete out in a couple hours and he was quickly able to tell me what the issue was and fix the problem. Had our fridge serviced. Was not impressed. Company did not complete the requested services and technician Pete appeared very unsure of what he was doing. He didn't even look at the fridge and began a quote for a part that was not needed. He was here less than 15 minutes and charged $221 and he could not explain the "flat fee" or why it cost so much for not fixing my fridge. He literally used a small automatic appliance magnet to seal my fridge. If I wanted to "rig" my fridge I could have done that myself. Felt like I got scammed. I was looking for a quote on an oven repair. I was aware completely with what needed fixed as I had already had the oven fixed once by a friend from out of town who does appliance repair. This friend told me it would be a recurring issue and that the next time it went out I'd need to decide whether or not I'd like to spend a few hundred dollars to fix it or just buy a new oven since this one was already about 10 years old. Ultimately, I decided on just buying a new oven, but I still wanted a price for fixing the old one in case I could repair and sell the old one to offset the cost of a new oven. As I mentioned, the broken oven is about 10 years old, but it's very high-end and was the top of the line when it was bought. For a repair quote, I called a few places, but the only company available was this one. I asked for a quote over the phone telling the person exactly what the issue was, but she said it would be unethical to give a price without a technician verifying the issue- no problem. I scheduled a time for someone to come and provide my quote. The scheduled day comes, and I'm stuck at work, so my pregnant wife is the only one to deal with the surly, loud repair man who claimed he "is the company" when my wife told him to contact the company for clarification with our issue. That issue being that he got there, and just set off to work. When my wife updated me that the oven was being fixed and that we'd owe a little over $300, I frustratedly instructed her to get the repair man out of our house. He then started demanding close to $90 (which would've been the cost above the $300 he quoted) just for coming out. Now the situation is my pregnant wife alone in our house with my son napping upstairs as surly repair man yells at her for his money which hadn't been mentioned to neither her nor me at any point before that- I just wanted a quote for the work that needed done. She's uncomfortable, and I can't be there for another half an hour or so. Despite the situation, my wife is able to coax the stranger out of our house, but he promises to be back for his money after I come home. Now I'm home after a long day at work, and this guy calls me to tell me he "hates to charge me the service fee without doing the work", and that he'd rather just fix the oven. I tell him that I was just looking for a quote, and there was never any mention of a service fee for looking at the oven. He chronicles his experience and tells me that no one in central New York gives free quotes on appliance repair. I reply that while that may be the case, I was never made aware of any service charge, and I won't be paying him for the uncomfortable ordeal he forced onto my wife. Then, he starts with the vulgar name-calling, cussing me out, and I'd had enough. I hung up the phone. Honestly, I feel bad if this is how this guy feeds his family, and had he conducted himself differently, I'm sure I wouldn't have objected to paying him for his time. Nonetheless, he made a pregnant woman alone in her own home very uncomfortable demanding money and refusing to leave, he woke up a little boy trying to nap with his loud and unprofessional demeanor, and he shouted expletives over the phone for a mistake that his own company made. This is not how you do business in a service environment, and this is not how you treat other humans. Update: As can be seen in one of the "not recommended" reviews, I have experienced a similar situation being harassed by this guy blocking his number and calling me at 10:30 at night. I am amazed at the gall and unprofessionalism of this company. Trust me. It's not worth the risk of the bad experience at least two customers have had. Who knows how many more bad reviews have been disputed or bogus good reviews submitted to offset the bad? If this is the best appliance repair technician in the world (evidence points to the contrary), it's not worth the potential headache of dealing with them. Second Update: Repeated and unrelenting calls from a blocked number since posting this review (five calls in 17 hours) have forced me to get authorities involved. I am giving this vendor 1 star based on the extreme UNPROFESSIONAL service and management of this company. One of their technicians, came to my home about 2 months ago to look at an issue we were having with our dishwasher. It was making a terrible sound and no water was being filtered through. The technician came, peeked in my dishwasher, wiggled some wires and was gone within 15 minutes and said nothing was wrong with my dishwasher, and charged me $140.00. Fast-forward to this week, when I had the EXACT same problem with my dishwasher. I called and told them that I'd like to have someone come out and repair my dishwasher this time as apparently it was not done properly the first time. The technician came out, spent about 15 minutes and this time told me that the Memory Board needed to be replaced and informed me that the part, service charge and labor would be $290.00. My fiance and I spoke to technician and explained how we thought this price was rather steep considering that we already paid $140.00 the first time and was told there was nothing wrong with our appliance. It is very clear that any "fixing" he did do apparently never resolved our appliance's problem. We calmly explained that we understood paying for a part and the labor that was needed to install but the service fee should not be something we had to pay for, as if this was fixed properly the first go-around, we wouldn't have to have them back. The technician stood in our home and argued and tried to speak over both myself and my fiance arguing his point about his price being fair. After 20 minutes of this, he finally left our home. As soon as he left, we both were astonished that a "professional" would talk like that to customers, in their own home, and decided right then and there that we were going to call other companies to fix our dishwasher. We left him a review describing exactly what had happened. Late last night, I had 2 missed calls and voicemails. One from an blocked number and one from a number I did not know. It was the technician asking me to please have us take down our review of what happened and offered us a full refund of $140.00 if we would do so and would negotiate a price to fix our dishwasher (I have both saved). This morning we woke up to a response from the vendor filled with blatant lies describing how he came to our home 3 times, offered us a refund, then questioned our financial status and our wedding engagement and stated that we had a family member in competing business. I am literally in awe of the unprofessionalism of him and this business. To lie and state that they came to a home multiple times and tried to work with a customer about poor service previously provided to try and cover his business's tracks is just poor morals and bad business. The only financial problem we have is being ripped off for a service that should have been done correctly the first time. Thirdly, if he truly would like to question our personal engagement status, please take a look at the ring on my left hand, you can't miss it. And lastly, if either of us were related to an appliance repair company, would you not think we would utilize family before calling another company to come to our home twice to repair an appliance? Be aware and stay away! I have already wasted enough of my time dealing with the dramatics of this company.
