The order took a long time, and portions were on the smaller side, but food was delicious! Everyone enjoyed their meals.

Solid diner in the heart of the Ridgewood Central Business District…read more For the longest time, we didn't think a legit diner actually existed in Ridgewood, until some friends whom we dined with told us about the Daily Treat. After a long kids play date at nearby Wild Duck pond, we decided to drop in on a Saturday afternoon at 12:20ish and there were plennnnttty of open tables and seats when we arrived. Although the restaurant doesn't say diner anywhere, the menu is as classic diner as it gets. There's a heavy emphasis on the all-day breakfast menu, but they serve your typical salads, paninis, wraps, triple decker sammies, burgers and hodgepodge of entrees. On our 1st trip here, we ended up getting our kids the kids mac and cheese and kids pancakes. Although I didn't try much of it, I took a few taste test bites, which were decent. Nothing about it blew me away, but it was what it was. As for my wife, she ordered the Shrimp, Avocado, Roasted Corn Salad and she thoroughly enjoyed it, but, once again, I didn't really have at it, so can't give an honest review on it. As for me, I got an Omelette with Home Fries and Toast during our 1st meal here. The reason I don't specify it is because my omelette ended up getting swapped with a friend of ours. This was no fault of the restaurant's though as our friend claimed my omelette without confirming it was the right order, which ended up leaving me with his omelette. Bottom line, the omelette I ended up eating was still solid. I probably would have enjoyed it more though if I got the order I was anticipating, but, nevertheless, it was still good. Our waiter was friendly and handled our orders like a champ. In fact, he kept separate bills for us on the side just in case we wanted to split the bill, which we did! So job well done by him. There is NO DOUBT we'll be back now that we're aware an actual diner is located in Ridgewood since we 1) love going to Ridgewood to eat and (2) we absolutely loveeee diners.

Surprisingly it wasn't super busy, so we got a booth right away. The interior was nice but appeared somewhat dated, one side with all the booths and tables on the other side. They had a bar section with some high chairs as well, but no one was there. I was pleasantly surprised to the menu was only 3 pages, not a whole booklet like some other diners. I ordered the New Yorker Omelette Feast that came with pastrami and corned beef wrapped around the egg, side of home fries and toasts. I liked the taste of this unique dish. Homefries were okay. The toast was good. My daughter got the mickey pancake which was pretty good as well. Our server did a decent job. Staff members were friendly all around. The check needs to be paid at the reception register and there's a 3% surcharge for using credit card. Overall we had a nice family brunch experience and I was relieved to finally dine at Tom Sawyer.

But overall a good spot for brunch.

The food is still great comfort food and the diner classics are still there. It's not the biggest menu but it does have a wider range than others in the area with probably one of the better all day breakfast menus. It feels like it needs a bit of an update inside and seats/tables some refreshing. Service is not consistent- some days it's excellent and friendly and kind; while other days, my little 7-year nephew wondered where anyone was with his water.

Unfortunately for Batman fans, that's not where New York's famous "Gotham" nickname was established. The name was popularized by the writer Washington Irving in the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Located off of Broadway in Fair Lawn, we have returned to Gotham City Diner after 4 years for brunch today. Upon entering, my partner and I got a booth by the window with high ceilings, decorated by various NYC subway signs where I recognized having spent years of my life, and huge, nice artwork on the wall. Their menu featured two sides that have a LOT of options without being overwhelming, ranging from breakfast to dinner for everyone. We decided on the 2 Eggs Scrambled with Corned Beef Hash and Short Rib Benny (Eggs Benedict). The food was amazing, with fresh ingredients and tastefully delicious. The portions were generous and the price reasonable. Our service was prompt and friendly; our server was Susana. The gentleman behind the register is always kind and professional. We made small talk about the huge painting on the wall that depicts 3 different places in New Jersey. We continue to recommend.

Dress pants, dress shoes and light blue polo. Totally appropriate. They told me that they didn't have any coffee. At first this was just weird (the place was virtually empty, and it is a CAFE). I asked if I could use the bathroom, and the lady looked me up and down. Her eyes locked on my rainbow necklace, and she said "you can go across the street." I thought she had to kidding, but as I looked at her I saw an expression that held mild disgust for me on her face. "Public restroom across the street" ( which there isn't...she was directing me to the stop and shop across the street, another business). I couldn't help but understand and feel what she was saying as: We don't want people like you here. Go where you belong. As I walked out I couldn't help but notice the sign they display that says "Ridgewood, There is No Place Like Home." I can't believe this exists in 2025 Ridgewood.

I came here for a Sunday morning breakfast with family, and as someone with celiac disease, I always pay close attention to gluten-free options. I was pleasantly surprised by how many choices they offer. They have gluten-free pancakes, gluten-free French toast, gluten-free bread (which I had with my omelet), and even gluten-free wraps for sandwiches. It's refreshing to see a diner that clearly put thought into accommodating gluten-free diners. The menu has also expanded overall, with plenty of options for non-gluten-free eaters. I ordered the Southwest omelet with gluten-free toast and was satisfied with my meal. At our table, one family member ordered the stuffed waffle (which looked really good), and another had the short ribs Benedict. The Benedict was tasty, but the English muffin was a bit overcooked and we were expecting a bit more short rib on the plate. Service was attentive despite how busy it was. Our server checked in on us regularly, and when they noticed we were going through a lot of water, they kindly left a pitcher at the table, which was very appreciated. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, especially during peak hours, but they do utilize a nearby convenience store lot for additional parking, which helps. They also have a great-looking dessert case, but we were way too full to try anything this time--hopefully next visit. Overall, this is a solid diner option that works well for families, groups with mixed dietary needs, or even a late-night bite. With a wide-ranging menu and breakfast served all day, there's truly something for everyone.

The host at the desk didn't even look up for literally three minutes. When he finally did, he was preoccupied a d seemed annoyed with us..he grabbed the menus, brought us to a booth, tossed the menus on the table, and basically walked away. No hello, no Happy Mother's Day, no "your server will be with you shortly." It then took about 20 minutes just to get a cup of coffee and we had to ask to be waited on We placed our food order at the same time, and about 20 minutes later the waitress came back and asked us to confirm what we ordered. Needless to say, everything took forever after that, including getting the check. We were in the diner for about an hour and a half. Everyone understands restaurants can be busy on Mother's Day, but it wasn't busy when we got there, and even when places are busy, no one should be spending an hour and a half in a diner for breakfast. What's disappointing is that this is actually the second time we've been there since the renovation, and unfortunately we had the same experience with the service both times. From now on, we'll gladly take the extra 20-minute ride to the River Edge Diner in River Edge. The service, food, and staff there are excellent, and you actually feel welcome and happy to be there. Food here was OK, but the service and overall experience were disappointing. We will not be going back.
