On the quietest stretch of Piedmont Avenue is this compact spot that serves healthy bowls and smoothies. It's a woman-owned business, so it already gets props for that broken glass ceiling. The name comes from the cycling classes they hold in the adjoining facility. It also explains why their customers look so healthy. I'd like to come back for an açaí bowl, but I feel like I should do a few laps through Mountain View Cemetery to justify the calories. This was probably the best avocado toast I she ever had in my life. Came here post hike and it will be my new go to spot. The flavors from the pickled onions worked so well on the warm sourdough and the avocado was perfect! The space is small but it does have some wall sweating! Came here on a Tuesday afternoon to fulfill an acai bowl craving. I called ahead and asked for the climb that hill without coconut. Unfortunately it still had coconut shreds in it. I didn't ask for them to remake it since I didn't want to waste this one. It was a bit sweeter than my taste but still a solid bowl. I wish the nut butter was a bit less clumpy but I still liked it. I am embarrassed to say this but when I ordered a latte I wasn't expecting the question "what kind of milk would you like?" I normally order from chains where whole milk is the default. I was even more thrown off and embarassed when I asked what do you mean and he listed off the types of milk including "cows milk". It was so weird to hear cows milk haha Needless to say I went with the oat milk option haha. The coffee was Highwire coffee and boy did I feel highwired after my latte! Initially at $11.50 per bowl, I was a little hesitant at the price and small-ish size of the bowl but my friend and I definitely thought it was worth it after considering how filling it was. We both got the Climb the Hill acai bowls and they tasted so sweet and delicious. I usually dislike when bowls have too much acai base and not enough toppings but this bowl had an even proportion of acai, granola, almond butter and fruits. The cacao nibs and coconut flakes were the icing on top and it added crunchy texture. I'll definitely be back next time I have an acai craving! read more

The most excellent oat milk chai ever! (5/5 Green Stars). This was a very brief visit while I waited for a friend to go for a walk around Piedmont Cemetery on a sunny Friday afternoon. What better way to spend a Friday afternoon? I'm so glad that I stopped in at the Ride Bar because it was a very pleasant experience. I asked for an oat milk chai and have to say that it's probably the best chai that I've ever had - certainly top three. I think that it's homemade since the mix was in a jug (rather than a package) in their fridge. It was actually the barista's first time making a chai, so a great success all round. I also bought an apple and that's also noteworthy: almost the only time I've ever bought a piece of fruit at a café. They coaxed me over to the healthy side with their cunning omission of pastries from the menu. Their main food offerings are fruit/granola bowls (yes, including acai) and oatmeal. They are focused on smoothies, but don't ignore their killer chai. Nice counter spaces with Wi-Fi and power outlets and also some outdoor seating. I'm giving Ride Bar 5/5 "green stars" for social and environmental impact, based on the following: * Almost all plant-based. Vegans: just check for honey. * Almost all made from scratch (down to the nut butter). * Coffee from Highwire and tea from Blue Willow * The menu says "Organic and Woman Owned" at the top but it wasn't clear which ingredients are organic (besides the oats which are listed as organic on the menu). Would be good to get some clarity on that as it's a prominently displayed selling point. Wow. Where to start? Usually I come here after my spin classes just to do work but today I decided to step out of my comfort zone. My second visit to Ride Bar and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I like the open feeling inside, peaceful and hip interior. The dragonfruit bowl is my favorite, with 'keep it tight' toppings. I love the addition of house-made nut butter, and the granola topping is so crisp and nice! My daughter also liked their açaí bowl, and notes that it wasn't sour like other açaí bowls she's had elsewhere. The coffee is strong. I've been enjoying açaí bowls from Project Juice recently and was excited to find this new establishment closer to where I live. I saw they tout being local and organic, so thought it would be worth a try, however, I was disappointed with the quality after ordering the dragonfruit bowl. There were no "local" options, it appeared that many of the ingredients and menu items were organic, but were not local -- they were packaged and shipped here (many items sourced from Costco). The diversity and quality of ingredients fell short of my expectations, the dragonfruit base was icy, the granola uninteresting. This is a fine accompaniment to the gym, and a convenience for gym goers post-workout, but not somewhere to go out of your way for if looking for a premium experience. read more

They make amazing smoothies. The smoothies are a little expensive but where else can you get a nutritious smoothie with coffee blended in? (It's called the Double Edge.)
