    Chicken Salad 雞肉沙拉
    Barbara S.

A Foster City hole in the wall charm. Strictly take out but there are small tables and chairs around the side. The servers are happy and open to answer questions. They do not rush you through the line. The food: consistent in taste, nicely sautéed and out of this world. The portions are huge, enough to share or split for two meals. Additionally, how many places offer a two item entree with rice and/or chow mein for $10.95! The only downfall today was the chicken salad lacked dressing which normally has a hot mustard zip. Would I visit again? Well yes, I drive from San Jose just to grab lunch and sit by the lake. Ahhh, retired life.

2 entree lunch special - half chow fun/fried rice, Dai Chin Chicken 大千雞, and Yu-Shiang Eggplant 魚香茄子 with tofu. $11.98 total with tax!

Their lunch special is the one!! $9.95 for one entree, $10.95 for two entrees with fried rice, chow mein, or half/half as your base (and they even let me get chow fun as an option). I got the Dai Chin chicken and the eggplant with tofu and man do they load the trays up!! Unbeatable value for some no frills Chinese takeout plus there's plenty of parking in the plaza - if you're in the area stop by and get in line...you won't be sorry you did.

Hidden gem in Foster City! I almost wanted to gatekeep this spot, but it definitely deserves more love. This is easily one of the best places for quick to go Chinese food. I ordered a combo plate for $11, and when I say they load it up, they really pack it! I got chowmein, salt & pepper pork spareribs, and dai chin chicken! It's such a great combo. The portions are generous and everything was flavorful. We ended up ordering a lot of food and the total came out to about $70 for 4 plates plus some extra sides, which is a great deal for the amount of food you get. It's a very small spot, so don't expect a full dine-in experience. It's more of a quick, grab and go spot but they do have a few outdoor seating. There's plenty of parking in the plaza and it's located right next to Osaka Marketplace. Definitely a must to visit when you're craving Chinese takeout!

orange fried flower dressed as orange chicken - 99% flour, 1% chicken

For delivery, we ordered fried rice, chow mein, orange chicken, pork spare ribs, and hot and sour soup. Our order came incorrect as chow mein was missing, but 2x orange chicken. The food was packed to the brink! Fried rice and spare ribs were ok. Soup was very sour. Also, very thick (overdone with corn starch or flour). Orange chicken was 100x caked with flour. There was little to no chicken... and we had TWO ORDERS of this garbage. This needs to be investigated. Who in the world serves orange fried batches of flour dressed as orange chicken?

Oh dear heavens, at long last--a sanctuary of affordability has emerged in the notoriously unforgiving financial battlefield known as the Bay Area. It almost feels miraculous to encounter a humble spot where one's wallet does not immediately weep in despair. The 兩餸飯 arrives in gloriously generous proportions, a mountainous feast that commands attention the moment it touches the table. Now, let us be candid--the flavor may rest comfortably in the realm of "just okay," not a symphony of culinary brilliance nor a revelation of gastronomic mastery. Yet, in a region where even mediocrity often comes with a jaw-dropping price tag, this place stands tall as a champion of value. The sheer abundance of food paired with such astonishingly modest pricing creates a triumphant victory that is difficult--if not impossible--to rival. In the end, taste alone does not dictate destiny here. The unbeatable affordability, the hearty portions, and the rare sense of financial relief transform this establishment into a beacon of hope for the budget-weary diner. Truly, nothing--absolutely nothing--can dethrone the power of a low price in the Bay Area.

This restaurant is tucked away but is such a good find! If you're craving a super greasy meal, this is the place to go! Quantity size is huge (especially for how much you pay for it). I got chow mein with din din chicken and eggplant. Service was speedy. I did not see too many vegetarian options tho.

Eggplant and Dai Chin Chicken $9.95

Let's be real, you don't go to Rickshaw Corner for the service. The service actually is bad and even for a take out only spot. The portions are huge and will be a few meals for many people. They pile on the food like crazy. At $9.95 for a 2 item entree is a steal and about double of what Panda Express gives. I saw a lot of ppl call it the Panda dupe. I got the eggplant tofu and dai chin chicken which is kinda like orange chicken. There are some pieces that are only breading. The taste isn't as good as Panda but it's not bad either. A bit salty but it is Chinese food after all. Parking lot Take out only

Sesame Chicken芝麻雞, Broccoli Beef 西蘭牛肉, Chicken Chow Mein 雞肉炒麵
    Pearl R.

I heard so much about this spot and it's so worth it. I ordered the sesame chicken, beef broccoli and chow mein and it was only for $13. The staff put so much food in the box and it was overfilling, it's definitely a bang for your buck! Not only the price and portion was good, but the flavor was amazing as well! Definitely recommend this spot if you're craving Chinese food, to-go/takeout!

Two Entree Lunch Platter- pick choice of carb (rice, chow mein, chow fun) chow fun with dai chin chicken and mushroom chicken
    Yvonne C.

I've been ordering from this place mostly for ala cartes or party trays. Best cheap eats on this side of the bay and better than Panda Express. Caution- the chow mein or fried rice that comes with the combo meals is extremely bland and dry. I recommend the chow fun as it has texture and moisture. My friend ordered the chow mein and had to throw it away. Visually speaking it was "HELL NO," because I can tell it was bland and sitting on the steam table for awhile. It was during lunch time so not sure why it was already so dried out. She purchase a medium and it was $15. I really felt bad because there were no vegetarian options and it was just awful looking. Recommend the party trays and order online. Pickup is no hassle. This place does take card even though YELP says "NO". Just bring CASH incase they say no.

Five stars for service five stars for the food!!! Get the salt and pepper spare ribs!!! It is a must. I'm going to spend this week and next week in Redwood City and it's def worth the drive

It was not busy when I arrived. You can check the menu with QR code but you have to order with the server. As there are plenty authentic chinese dishes on the menu I couldn't decide which one to order, I finally ordered Changsa noodle and chili fried chicken. The food was ready pretty quickly. One thing I didn't pay attention while ordering was the chili fried Chicken. I expected to be dark meat and it was white meat whichbis very uncommon on this type of dish as I had this dish at many restaurants and all served with dark meat. I didn't pay attention to the description of the dish. It was good but I prefer dark meat. The Changsa noodle is unique as it is cooked with a lot of egg, jalapeno and black bean. It was yummy but I feel the egg overpowering the noodle. At last about gratuity. It mentions we don't need to tip but 18% is included which is a tip. It is very misleading information. If customer doesn't need to tip then 18% mandatory charge should not be enforced. Service was just ok. When we about to leave the restaurant was almost full which is a good sign. If this were a take out or fast food restaurant, this can be a 4+ star restaurant. Service is friendly though. The ambiance is a bit similar to a fast casual restaurant than that of a high end course meal and the service aligns with that. Bathrooms are in a bit of a sorry state and chairs are peeling at the edges. Service is a bit clumsy and rushed. No one asks for any food restrictions before the meal and it isn't asked when reservations are being made, so you'll have to actively speak up if you need this addressed. Dishes are only fully explained at the bar, if you sit at the standard tables you'll get a very basic dish explanation. The food is mostly Chinese Japanese fusion and some dishes knock it out of the park, like the chawanmushi which is fused with flavors of Chinese egg drop soup. Some really drop the ball, like the scallion noodles which were soggy and overly greasy, the oil was not properly infused with the green onion and so you just got mushy soggy plain oil flavored noodles. The course lacked consistency. Some dishes were incredible, some average, and some downright bad. There's a lack of consistency in the prep also, there were crab shells in the orange crab dish, there was a bad bitter uni in one of the chawanmushi, etc. I think the ambiance, service, and course doesn't add up to the $150 price tag. There's definitely potential but the lack of effort does affect the overall experience.

It sits right there near the Bay Trail--on the boardwalk side of Foster City--where you can see the bridge heading toward the East Bay. Back when I worked for a small IT consulting company, this was our go-to lunch spot. Big group? No problem. They have the space, the big round tables, and of course the lazy Susan right in the middle, which is exactly how it should be. The daily whiteboard specials were always worth a look, and the kitchen here knows how to handle heat. Real heat. Lots of chilies, lots of flavor. Over the four years I worked nearby, my tolerance for spicy food definitely leveled up thanks to this place. My absolute favorite dish here is their Chung Hwa Road potstickers. They take about 10 minutes to make, and they are massive--easily three or four times the size of a regular potsticker. They come out connected by that beautiful crispy lace, that spiderweb crust on the bottom that makes everyone at the table pause for a second before diving in. Dip those into their house sauce with black vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and soy... honestly, it's perfection. They also do kung pao chicken the traditional way--chicken, peanuts, chilies. No fillers, no nonsense. Just clean, bold flavor. I appreciate that. The snow pea shoots here are another favorite when they're in season. Expensive, yes--but once you know how much work goes into cleaning and prepping them, you understand why. Worth every penny. Same with the steamed whole fish. Market price, always fresh, usually topped with scallions, ginger, and chilies. Spoon that over a bowl of hot rice and you're set. Service runs like a well-oiled machine. Tea comes quickly--usually jasmine or chrysanthemum--and if you lift the lid slightly, someone will notice and refill it. It's one of those small traditional touches that tells you they know exactly what they're doing. They're also incredibly organized with takeout. Soups are sealed tight, everything packed carefully so nothing spills. You can tell they've done this a million times. I lived on the Peninsula for two decades, and this place stayed in my regular rotation the entire time. Now that I'm in Charlotte, it's one of those restaurants I genuinely miss. We just don't have Taiwanese food like this out here. So if you're nearby, go. Order the dumplings. Get something spicy. Sit around the table with friends and take your time. And when you eat a potsticker, think of me--because life is too short not to eat well.

From the first visit, it was clear this isn't an "Americanized Chinese restaurant," but a place that truly understands Chinese cooking, technique, and flavor. What impressed me most were the mushroom dishes. Being able to enjoy mushrooms with such depth and complexity in the U.S. is already rare. The aroma isn't built from heavy seasoning, but from the ingredients themselves, fully brought out. The flavors are clean, natural, and incredibly fragrant--the kind that lingers and keeps you wanting more. It immediately brought back memories of authentic Yunnan flavors. Even more impressive were some of the seemingly ordinary stir-fried dishes. At first glance, they look simple, almost unassuming. One bite in, though, and you instantly understand what real wok hei is. That smoky, high-heat flavor can only come from a skilled chef using proper equipment and precise timing. It's not greasy or overpowering--just deeply aromatic and perfectly balanced. Simple, yet elevated. Overall, this is a restaurant that doesn't rely on gimmicks, fancy plating, or social-media hype. Everything is driven by pure technique and respect for ingredients. Each dish has a clear identity and leaves a lasting impression--not something you just photograph and forget, but something you actually remember. In the Bay Area, where Chinese restaurants are everywhere but truly great ones are rare, Ping's Bistro is a place I'd gladly return to again and again. If you're looking for something different, want to experience real wok hei, or simply appreciate honest, well-executed Chinese cooking, this spot is absolutely worth a dedicated visit.
