Have been there 2 times so far. Had the Florentine omelet the first time. It was cooked perfectly. Had the hungrymans breakfast the second time. Very good pancakes, nicely cooked scrambled eggs, homefries (i'd like alittle onion in it, but they are still good), and ham. Oh yea, and their homemade bread for toast. Worst bacon ever. So I wanted to like this place, but between the bacon tasting like meaty cardboard, the grungy interior (water stains on the ceiling, stained walls ) my waitress was also wasn't very good. I ordered the Florentine omelette which had " imported swiss" on it/with it and I could barely taste the Swiss. When I finished my coffee I was not asked for refills and my cup sat there lonely and empty. The most irritating thing about my experience is that my waitress brought me my check, she walked away and I placed my card down for her to take it. I sat ten minutes sipping my water watching her walk by me. Eventually I got sick of waiting and got up to find her. Apparently you just go to the register and pay. ...why would you not tell anyone this? Seriously your just going to let me sit there watching the nasty stained walls all day? I'm mostly at Rick's for lunchtime mid-week. Their specials are always great - true comfort food. I noticed their mashed potatoes are unsalted and low-buttered, and their veggies are steamed - which for me is great when I'm trying to be healthy. But when I'm not - their breakfast stuff is awesome - 'springy' pancakes, insane omelets are the best bets. read more

I've been coming here for YEARS. I left and moved out of state for 5 years and it was still the first place I could think to go upon my return. Service is always great. The food is plentiful and very reasonably priced. And you always feeling like you're going to have to have someone roll you out of there. This is one of the better places in town to grab breakfast. We take the kids on Sunday mornings. The staff is always quick to take our order and make sure the kids get their food first. I love Rick's On 5. Been here at least 100x in the last 10+ years. The food is great, price is decent, and the waitresses are friendly and professional. So why not five stars? Three reasons. 1) The bathrooms are always a mess 2) The price for the food has drastically increased in the last three years (+48%) 3) Seriously, the forks are GINORMOUS! Why are you giving me a shovel to eat with?!?! People complaining about the long lines are being ridiculous. It's a long line because the food is good and everyone wants to come in. All in all, Ricks in 5 is a great place to eat. Love that it's open til 8 now. Just get rid of the forks. read more

Friendly place with decent prices. I was in the area for work and used Yelp to find a place for breakfast. I arrived around 10 am so the morning work rush was over, but the place was far from empty. Lots of locals who know the employees by name and vice versa. My waitress was Laverne--a happy woman who obviously wasn't faking a pleasant attitude. She's older, perhaps 60s, and I mention her age only because when a fork fell off a plate and a customer asked what that was Laverne answered "my teeth" as she bent to pick it up. Completely deadpan and we all got a good laugh. It was so funny, but perhaps you needed to be there. My food came out fast (French toast with a side of Canadian bacon). It was hot and tasty. Coffee refills came at the right time. Overall, a perfect diner experience. I'd be back if it were closer to home. read more

I knew they had good service when I was greeted at the door by a woman holding two menus in her hand. She had seen us get out of the car and was waiting and ready. That standard was maintained throughout the meal. The restaurant has huge windows that make it feel larger than it is and they clearly have a high standard of cleanliness. The seafood melt sandwich was delicious and (unlike a number of places) had a significant amount of meat in it. read more

I just finished breakfast at Rick's. Now normally I would've given it a five star review but I had to knock off a star. I've been to this restaurant multiple times. I think my first time at Rick's was when I was a child, and normally the food is good and there's a long line, stretching onto the curb outside the door. Well circumstances being what they are, there were no lines no waiting and there were many tables available. So I got tea with honey, water, and one of the specials. The special I got was a big beefy sandwich, which is basically beef, American cheese, onion, at least I think there was onion, and egg, on Texas toast but I substituted the American cheese for pepper jack cheese because I prefer the spiciness of the pepper jack to American cheese. Anyway this is where I knock off a star. The food came, and while the home fries that came with the sandwich were good, the only flavors I got from the sandwich were beef and egg. I could see the cheese but i couldn't taste it at all. I was expecting at least some spice from the cheese but I couldn't find any. read more

Our office placed and order. My salad was to be the "oriental salad" when my coworker called in the girl kept asking questions about what dressing etc- this salad comes with its own specific dressing. My coworker repeated herself several times. Needless to say, what came was a "cajun" salad. I called and spoke to a girl that was quite rude. She insisted that we asked for an "Asian salad" and "we don't have Asian salad we have cajun salad, you should have said 'oriental' " when my coworker called this order in she repeated herself several times and in fact did say "oriental" salad. I have eaten there on a regular basis for the last 5 years. I always order the bacon and cheese omelette as it is always moist and full of flavor. I always base a restaurant on their coffee as it is the first thing you get and highly recommend as it is always fresh and robust. The chef always ask you as you are paying at the register, "How was the food?" and really means it. I am impressed by the staff, food and general energy of this restaurant and highly recommend. read more

I've tried several diffrent dishes mostly breakfast, and they're pretty decent, just nothing to rave about. The coffee is bad and for some reason the juices are usually warm. Most staff is nice but a couple of the waitresses come off standoff-ish and will not crack a smile. The owners are kind, but I've noticed that unless they are near the entrance you will not be acknowledged by anyone else until they're ready to seat you.
