They left behind a heavy load of damaged unusable roof shingles. Left behind all of the fiber cement siding pieces they replaced. Worst of all they left behind roofing nails, many extremely sharp cut off pieces of flashing , small roofing pieces etc which I am still finding and picking up. Extremely unacceptable. Guess the concept of a drop cloth escaped them. The 1st job was an exterior door installation. That was a good month plus ago. Deadbolt is unusable. Missed about a foot of caulk on the interior. I would be remiss if I didn't leave a review after the service I received today. I searched online…read moreearlier this week for companies that repair siding. This was my first time having to get any repairs done on my house that I couldn't fix myself. One of the companies got back to me and said I needed a contractor. I get online this morning searching for contractors, hoping I was going down the right path. I find several and reached out to them. Less than 2 hours later Vince had already replied to get the ball rolling. I sent pictures of the damage and what I needed done. I didn't expect him to have any availability until next week, since it was the weekend and already late in the afternoon at this point. Vince called me up and said a storm was coming and if I was available he could come by and fix it, since he didn't want the rain to possibly cause any more damage. The amount of professionalism, efficiency and knowledge I received from Vince made me feel as though he actually cared. He explained what he was doing, the tools he was using, the behind the scenes on how construction crews put up siding, the spacing, and the measurements for it. Some companies would have just fixed it and not said anything leading you to wonder what was wrong with it to begin with. Vince made sure I understood, I almost feel like I can do contracting work now (probably just holding a ladder). The work was done quickly even though at that point had it taken longer than an hour I wouldn't have been mad. Overall Vince was a pleasure to work with, I'm grateful for his work, and expediency especially when he explained how his wife had to be hospitalized and maneuvering around that and work. I would definitely recommend him for any future home improvements!

Requested an estimate to install vinyl panels to finish off a screen porch ceiling. Received a call from a representative and we discussed the job. The representative said he fully understood what I wanted and set an appointment for the next day (Saturday) to come out to take measurements and provide a sample of the materials they would propose to use. I agreed to meet him at his schedule since I told him I would be home. He said he would call ahead as to when he would come. Waited all day Saturday with my phone nearby so as not to miss his call. Waited until close of normal business (5:00 PM) he never called and did not show up. No way I will give this company my business, wasted a whole Saturday without even getting a courtesy call.

In the last few weeks of my father's life, I was tasked with caring for his home, which was in need…read moreof various repairs and did not have spouting. The house is large and historic, so this was a bigger project than what I was used to. With my father in a nursing home, I met with the various spouting contractors and presented my father the proposals to review and ultimately decide who he wanted to go with. Zephyr Thomas was one of three spouting contractors. One of the others was a contractor I had used personally at my home with a good results. That gentleman was very personable and friendly and very open to all my questions, as well as easy to reach. I did not feel like I was a bother or made to feel stupid for asking questions. Personally, that would have been the contractor I would have chosen, but my father chose Zephyr Thomas. They were the highest in price. I thought the proposal process was very impersonal. I didn't meet with anyone initially and the price was based loosely off a google earth image of the house. It wasn't until I insisted that a picture is not going to capture the problems that Brad (one of the owners) went out. I had questions that I felt were best to be answered in person and that was the first time I actually met anyone there. Brad spoke to my dad once on the phone during that meeting and went to the house again to confirm something - making sure to mention he'd been there "multiple times now", which I felt was almost a jab. Otherwise, Brad was polite and satisfied my dad's questions. They had the design dad liked the best so that's who we hired. I will add that their showroom is gorgeous and quite impressive and would recommend anyone considering them to see the materials in person. When it came down to signing the actual work contract and dropping off the check dad's health had declined. He was in the hospital the day I was to drop it off and hospice was recommended. I had a million things on my mind and didn't feel that a day or two would make that much of a difference since it was early Feb and the work wasn't scheduled till late April. However, Brad insisted and came to my house to pick up the check saying that he wanted to be sure I was "locked in" before material costs went up. He was kind and polite when he picked up the check, but I did feel he had poor timing given the situation. Sadly, dad passed two days later, which the company was aware of but no one reached out. I felt like I was the one making more of an effort after the contract was signed to find out what was expected from me, the timeline, and scheduling. They could have been a little more hands on, like they were when they came to pick up the check. I checked on the crew twice during installation and they were friendly, they followed my instructions to leave anything that I could scrap and even carried it to my scrap pile. They left the premises clean. There was two crews and I did have to call to follow up as the work went longer than anticipated. A comment was made about how the old guys (the one guy was 70!) make up their own hours. The end result does look a bit strange to me with double gutters, and maybe that was the most effective design, although not aesthetically pleasing. It doesn't look as integrated as the spouting at my house. I mentioned this to the receptionist when I paid the final bill and she said she'd let Brad know. Whether or not he inspected the final project I don't know and haven't heard from them since. Not a horrible experience, but not warm and fuzzy either. People skills could be improved, especially for someone in my situation. But the job is completed, the gutters do what they're supposed to, and the workers cleaned up, so for that reason I feel a 4 star review is justified.
