Just a simple classic and with homemade tomato soup - it was perfect for a cold day. The kids enjoyed a meatball sandwich and a hamburger, they were both very happy. Yolked is a trendy Old Port Portland restaurant randomly transported to a mini strip-mall in…read moreWindham. It's by far the nicest restaurant in the area, and if you live in this region it's the clear and obvious first choice for elevated dining. Just know that you'll be paying for it. At 5 pm on a Saturday Yolked was bustling, with a full bar and many tables already taken. We were able to snag bar seats after a 20 minute wait. If the 90 minute seating rule was in effect, no one told us at the bar and we did not notice. Service was impeccable from the friendly bartenders. We decided to split the Dill Cream Roasted Beets ($21) and Citrus Miso Carrot Ribbons ($20) for appetizers. The beets were the clear winner, served warm, and I only wish I ordered the Focaccia ($11) to dip in the irresistible sour cream and dill sauce. The Duck Ragu ($46) entree was huge and we enjoyed, though the pappardelle noodles were over a foot long. I considered Lady and the Tramping it but was overruled. The special Apple Crisp dessert with ice cream was a perfect early fall dessert. So, why 4 stars? The prices here are extreme. Appetizers are in the $20's, entrees in the $40's and the cheapest glass of wine on the menu is $14. I always pose this question: Can I eat at Scales for cheaper? When the answer is "yes," then I'd rather just go to Scales. And Yolked is easily more expensive than Scales, even if you only get a burger. Also, it's extremely, exceptionally loud. That's not a big problem for me, but something to keep in mind. Overall, Yolked is by far the best restaurant in the area. It's a stylish spot with very good food. Just make sure your credit card gives extra points for dining.

When seated I had no problem that I wasn't seen until 5 minutes passed, or that I was not handed a drink menu until I asked for one. What I do have a problem with however is being treated differently to other patrons for no apparent reason. Visiting this town as a person of Latino descent has been a joy so far but at the Black Horse Tavern I finally understood why I was warned about coming to Bridgton. After the hostess sat us down, we waited about 5 minutes to see hour waitress, as she approached our table she immediately asked if we wanted drinks or appetizers, my boyfriend asked for a drink menu which seemed to bother her. After receiving the drink menu we waited another 5 minutes to then be met with another waitress because our original one passed us off to someone else who ended up taking our drink and entree orders. The original waitress did eventually return with our said beverages she slammed them down in front of my boyfriend and I. The only reason I know the waitress's name is Shannon is because I heard her greet another table and because it was on my receipt. We carried on and made the best of our situation as we enjoyed what we could of our dinner but even as she returned with the bill, she slammed it in front of my boyfriend yet again and continued having pleasant conversations with another group of people. As we left we didn't even get a "thanks for coming" or a "goodnight" as we left the restaurant.
