1 star is too many. Rick comes across as knowledgeable and reliable but is def not reliable. Hired him to build an outdoor fireplace for $16k. He wanted 1/3 to start, 1/3 when the block work was done and 1/3 when done. We gave him a check for $6k to start. He said it would take him 1 to 1 1/2 weeks to finish the block. Over a month later it's still not done and he's asked for more money numerous times. I gave him $3k more and I bought $3k worth of stone that he was supposed to buy so I've paid him $9k and bought $3k in materials for $12k total out of pocket. The block and mortar that he's provided is less than $1k worth so he's taken over $8k of my money for the little labor they've completed. He's told me numerous times to my face he would be there to do work and didn't show up or would come late and leave soon after but the last straw was when he texted us that he was out of block, mortar and money and wouldn't do anymore unless we gave him another check. I fired him instead and he wasn't happy about that, curse texted and threatened us with a lien which is rich considering I paid him for work he hasn't performed. No idea what the problem was but can only assume he was using my money to finish another project because he rarely was working on my project and hired a kid that had never done any masonry to do what little got done and it looks very questionable. He seemed like a good, straight up guy at the start but everything went downhill quickly. read more

I hired this mason several months ago to tear off some tile on my Masonary fireplace and install some thin bricks so that it would look like the original fireplace in my old house. He started out okay but on the last day when he and his helper were done, I did notice that some of the face bricks were somewhat crooked. They were not horrible, but I expected better for the price I paid. After several months, now some of the bricks are coming loose and the mortar coming out. I do not see a metal screen or layer of cement under the bricks. Some of them are just laying on the wood floor. I hired a mason because I wanted a quality brick job. I could have hired a handyman for a third of what I paid for this and had a better looking fireplace. Some of the bricks are also uneven. I guess I will have to tear up the loose bricks on the floor and have someone else fix this. I can't imagine how bad it will look once I start building a fire in the firebox, I imagine more bricks will start coming loose. read more

DO NOT USE RICK'S BRICKS, RICK ANDRUSKEWICZ, MASONRY SPECIALIST, 937-931-0039, FOR ANYTHING! This is a long story so I'm going to highlight why this man can't be trusted. We had 2 bids for our job and we went with Rick because he's local and seemed like a hard working guy. He said he could finish the job in 3 weeks...he didn't even show up for the first 3 weeks! When we reached out to him he said he needed more money for supplies. Mind you, he hasn't even shown up so what did he do with the first payment we gave him? I told my husband something didn't seem right and he shouldn't write him another check yet. But, he did, and Rick and his "help" showed up and didn't even have supplies for a full day of work! They worked 3 hours for 4 days knocking out our concrete skirting and porch then they disappeared again. This went on for 3 months, $14,000 later and he didn't even complete 1/4 of the work he promised! He left our house and yard an absolute mess! Because Winter was coming we asked what his plan was, he said he'd be there the next day...we waited 3 days and he still never showed and didn't even have enough courtesy to tell us why he didn't show again. This is what he does, asks for money to buy supplies and pay a crew (which he doesn't even have). He says he'll be there and he never shows up. We couldn't handle this anymore so we asked him to refund what he didn't use (since only 1/4 of the job was complete after 3 months)...he laughed. After doing some serious digging, we found out we aren't the only family he has schemed. We found a not recommended review in Yelp with the exact same story. We made an appointment with a lawyer to see what we could do. We found out that Rick has several complaints against him with the Better Business Bureau and he just lost a case in court for scheming $30,000 off of another family. The lawyer said we'd have to take him to court and stand in line behind others who have done the same. The legal documents aren't worth the paper they are printed on and we will likely never see a dime. RICK IS A FRAUD AND A THIEF! I have no choice but to leave this review to make sure nobody else goes through this. My husband worked very hard for that money and now has to do the job on his own and still has to pay for all of the supplies to finish. Rick took our money and ran. I'm also convinced he can't keep a crew because he probably doesn't pay them after they work for 3 hours. The lawyer said we'd spend more money to get a guaranteed judgement so our best route is to file a police report and make sure we put a review everywhere we can so nobody uses this guy anymore. read more

A truck damaged the concrete block around our dock door in our building in Dayton, OH. Rick looked at it and gave us a good price. They showed up promptly today and completed the job in one day. Need a reliable, trustworthy mason? This is NOT your guy. When I called Rick to bid the job, I found him to be perfectly delightful. With 30 years experience under his belt, I felt we were in good hands. How wrong we were!! We wanted a 12' flagstone patio round for our firepit area and a 65' low border wall for our garden bed which goes the entire width of our yard. Rick assured us that he does that kind of work and would be happy to bid the job. We had 3 other companies bid the job. After asking Rick if he had the bid amount for us, he sent a very sketchy bid via text that was barely legible. (not due to his handwriting but due to the actual photo of a half-assed bid) We agreed to Rick doing the job. It was several weeks before I heard from Rick again after telling him we wanted him to do the job. Once I heard from Rick, he asked if we were still interested. Umm.. yes, we are. He said it would be a couple of weeks before he could start. Rick came over to get started on the patio round, asking my husband if this was what we wanted. I was away on vacation when my husband contacted me and I told him I would come home early from my vacation to meet with Rick so there was no misunderstanding. Rick never showed when he said he would. This behavior was ongoing for probably a month, off and on. Once his crew finally came, it appeared there was no sense of direction. They did the border wall in a dry stack (a poor job at that) when that is NOT what we wanted. We wanted something safe and secure with MORTAR. Rain showers came, knocking down part of the wall. NOT GOOD. Anyway, this whole debacle went on for almost a month. We gave Rick a down payment when he started and then he asked for more money, 2nd time appearing at our house to which my husband foolishly obliged. (Rick claimed he didn't have enough money to pay his help) Rick never did any of the work and his crew didn't show up for days, leaving their equipment all over our yard, wheelbarrow and the huge pieces of flagstone all over our yard, killing our grass. My husband and I cleaned it all up, put the flagstone in the area they dug out and texted Rick to come get his things because we were cutting him loose. Rick was away on vacation and didn't even have the audacity to tell us he would be unavailable. NO HELP FOR 2 weeks! One of the guys that came, answered an ad of Rick's on INDEED and was left to dig the patio round by himself in horrible heat, while all the other guys disappeared. When I went to check on him he stated that he couldn't keep working in that heat by himself. He also stated he had never seen anyone work like this and how this was his first time working for Rick. He was mortified. Rick texted us and wanted to make good on the job but never showed up when he said he would. Thoughout this entire process, my husband would text him and ask him where he was or when he was going to show up. Rick's response: "My own wife "don't" even keep tabs on me like that." Rick finally showed up out of the blue on a Saturday afternoon, 2 weeks after the fact and told my husband he would complete the job only if we didn't text him anymore. We respectfully blocked him and told him not to come back. This man bit off more than he could chew and was terribly rude to us. His own wife appeared at our house one day and that is exactly what she told us, he bit off more than he could chew. The professional landscape/hardscape company we hired to clean up after Rick's mess, did a fantastic job and did it correctly. We are very pleased. We are heartsick and sad that Rick took so much money from us and was very dishonerable and unreliable. He took no ownership of his unprofessional behavior. read more
