Walked in casually on MLK day (early evening) and was pleasantly surprised at how quaint it was. Low lighting, plenty of seating and space, and an upstairs area (closed when I went). Music is decent, and not too loud. List of drinks look delicious, and reasonably priced. I got the stranger cocktail and it was yummy and boozy. Bartender was nice and attentive. Overall, would add to a place to revisit again.
Really great ambiance and design! The moody lighting and the brick walls make for a cool place to hang out. The drinks were good and they have standard SF pricing. It was empty swinging by around 7/8pm, but I imagine it fills in as the night goes on. Plenty of seating and a cool loft area as well.
What a cozy bar with event spaces available for rental private parties. Pisco sour was sweet and fruity. The small mezzanine upstairs can hold 20 comfortably. Seats for all. It is unique and has a nice view of the downstairs both sides. Holiday time is especially festive and very cozy with the fireplace on. Feels warm like I'm in a cabin with all the wood walls. Order at the bar and bring your drink anywhere. No server for the table. Water stations available so get your own water to stay hydrated and safe! Don't get sick. That's no fun.
Nice whiskey bar in Fidi with a fairly relaxed vibe on a Friday night. We came by after dinner for a night nap and enjoyed the drinks we got. Service was quick and friendly and we were happy to find a bar to sit and chat without loud music on a Friday night.
One of the coziest and oldest bars in downtown San Francisco. I've been coming here since around 2017 and it never disappoints. I love the fire pits and the cozy atmosphere. Totally my kind of bar. There are two bars, though I'm not sure if the back bar is still open.
First timer with my buds here & it was an absolute vibe. The bartender was a total wizard super knowledgeable & actually asks what you like, then nails the recommendation. The drink was expertly crafted & tasted amazing, totally hit the spot after the bartender tailored it to my tastes. Atmosphere's cozy, service is top notch! Highly recommend this place
Great selection of bourbon, rye, scotch and single malts. The bartenders were very knowledgeable and made wicked drinks! Great place to pop in for a nightcap or to hang with friends!
Wandered here after dinner nearby and what a gem. Bartender was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Both drinks were 100. Kentucky Buck was refreshing strawberry infused bourbon, right up my alley. Stone Monkey was delicious and sweet, not my cup of tea but just what my partner was craving for dessert. Definitely would recommend. Can't wait to come back to explore more of their whiskeys and bourbon.
As soon as I walked into it I was warmly greeted and welcomed by the bartenders there I was just exploring and sat myself with my plushie down on a chair and just party chilled for a long while and I had complimentary a ginger beer cocktail for being myself. That was a few days ago. Last night my boyfriend and I visited there and I ordered the pisco punch because I really wanted to try absinthe and I thought it was pretty good. My boyfriend had a rum mixed in with coke and a superman cocktail that was custom ordered and he was disappointed because it was not like the recipe and exactly like it too it took way too long for it to be made and overall we did not really appreciate the negative vibes from being ignored fully at that. Service was slow the bathroom was pretty outdated with a toilet that wouldn't flush properly and bar food was missing from the menu when it could have been included to better drive in more revenue into San Francisco Present day rankingly and I know that you also know what thinelynesses I ever meant by saying that and this celebrity units oh yeah and yeah right it is not your fault but really it so forever forevermore*+!
I stopped by one afternoon for a pour and ended up staying a few hours after having some great conversations with the staff. It was nice to just bask in to the presence of their whiskey wall! Rickhouse is a wonderful whiskey bar in FiDi with a massive selection, wonderful staff, and fairly competitive prices! The only downside is that it's a pretty smaller place, so it can get packed real quick. But other than that it's a good time. I look forward to my next visit the next time I'm in SF.
Came here for the first time. I really loved their decor and their whiskey selection. The decor feels like being in a cabin or a distillery far away from the city. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Only downsides were that they were out of a lot of things listed on the whiskey list; it would have been nice if it noted as out of stock on the menu . Also, the prices for some of these whiskeys is a bit higher than other spots. However, you are paying for the experience and ambiance. Will definitely come back to explore their menu more.
Date of Visit: 6/20/2023 Rickhouse is one of my favorite lounges to visit after work. Located on Kearny Street, Rickhouse is at a convenient location with lots of restaurants nearby. On the first floor there is bar area, a cozy fireplace and a back seating area. On the mezzanine level there is some more seating area with a panoramic view of the first floor. We got Kentucky Buck and Apricot Cobbler, both were refreshing and good!
Walked by many times but never stopped in till today. The vibes is cool, not really divey, not super fancy just a chill hangout. I got the Smokey bee bc it had mezcal and I'm a mezcal freak! The drink was super smooth, not super strong but nice to enjoy slowly. Def be back! Loved my drink and the vibes. Everyone was super friendly ! read more
I had a wonderful, personal experience with a friend at Rickhouse recently. The drinks were beautifully executed and the atmosphere was friendly with the bartender and customers. The Lemon Meringue Pie was a gin-based drink that was silky, bright, and had a creamy foam on top. The taste of this drink is very unique, and it was balanced with its vanilla-citrus warmth and limoncello. The La Bonne Vie was more fresh and herbaceous; I liked the bitter taste of the grapefruit. It was light, crisp, and refreshing. This cozy, dimly lit place was perfect for a relaxing night out. Their well-crafted cocktails and the conversations with the people around are worth the visit. read more
I have been going to the Rickhouse for years. It is always on my list when I go to SF and I've even taken clients here because I like it so much. This last biz trip in SF didn't disappoint when I took 2 clients here before dinner. The place itself hasn't changed at all with its brick wall facing the main bar with a narrow lane going to the back room. The back room is wood paneled (presumably from bourbon barrels) with a few barrel top "tables" and stools at each. There's even a cool mezzanine level overlooking the rest of the joint. The vibe is very speakeasy meets yesteryear forge or blacksmith shop. And it is POPULAR. The after work rush often makes the Rickhouse and that narrow lane often difficult to navigate. It can take the bartenders a bit to get to you but they are making all the cocktails from scratch and manage the crowds pretty well. If you are searching for a quiet place to enjoy a cocktail, the after work rush makes this not the place for you. I have been here at other times and haven't had any issues. The mostly bearded bartenders donned with leather aprons are friendly and professional and whip up classics as well as other creative and delicious cocktails (instead of butchering animals...or people). I've enjoyed many of them over the years including a punch bowl shared with clients once. This time I ordered a Brazillianaire which had caught my eye and one of my clients liked it so much, he ordered two! I tried to find the current menu showing what was in it but figure it had Cachaca and rum and was very Tiki-adjacent (I love Tikibars!) and absolutely delicious! Prices are inline with cocktail prices...$14 for my other client's Sazerac (I bet that was good, too!) and $18/each for our Brazillionaire special seasonal cocktails. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Love the ambiance. Some cocktails are amazing, some are just okay! I had the mi abuelo which was fine. My friend got the stranger on horseback and it was sooo good! We also had the absinthe drink which I would not recommend. It was not tasty! We walked in because this spot looked interesting from the outside (dark but inviting). Bartenders go person by person in each group as they make each drink so it takes a little longer to get drinks if it's packed. We had a great time and sat at the bar. read more

Came for a drink after work and this bar is super vintage. Has a great upstairs which reminds me of something out of Harry Potter, but it is a tad dark even though they have candles. Parking is non existent as it's on Kearny. The draft was cold and perfectly poured. The only complaint I have was the bouncer or manager. Standing outside checking IDs and I have mine in a sleeve. He wanted me to take it out and I understand about minors, but come on... I'm 40 years old and was wearing a suit coming from work with folks that look older than me (however they got carded too). It's super minor, but perhaps I thought there could have been a better way to engage vs thinking it was still Halloween and you work for SFPD. read more

===TL;DR=== - Cocktail: - Kentucky Buck (if you want some fruity soda, this one) - Raspberry Beret - Split decision - Paint it black - UM, can't wait to come back! ===TMI=== Can you believe it, working in the FiDi district for some time now... always walked by this place but never went in. Who knew this place would be soooooo cool. -Mind-blown- This place reminds me of 1920s classic, classy saloon (picture downton abbey - excitement scream) with retro incandescent light bulbs and real candles per table, just the right amount of dimly lit lighting. Um, whiskey bar? Hell yeah. A second mini bar in the back too? -precious eyes-. Drinks were great, fun selections. The paint it black drink, for you you can taste the coffee.. but it also had an herbal drink ending lol. Bonus for bigger groups: they have punches bowls here, suitable for parties of 4 or more. P.S. - Funny moment: assuming this dude was a "regular", his friend came to SF for the first time so he decided to show her around.. in his definition = brings her to this "shortcut" inside this bar... meaning behind the "employee only" door, it apparently leads to this "gay bar" down the stairs..... SF is still full of surprises I guess haha. read more

Love the kind of dark old timey ambiance. Came here for work happy hour. We got one of the big shareable punch bowls. Like it was pretty tasty and fairly alcoholic but there was HELLA ice so idk if the value is worth. Otherwise was pretty good and had a great time. read more

Cool bar that has a great selection of spiritsto choose from. The bartenders are pretty good and quick at making drinks. I just had the Kentucky Buck, which was pretty refreshing and good way to end the night. read more

It's been a while since I've been here but it's still the same with it's huge whiskey and bourbon collection and rarities such as Pappy and Whistlepig. This time, I brought my wife and we sat up on top sipping La Bonne Vie and Kentucky Buck. We really enjoyed the uniqueness of the ingredients such as basil and strawberry infused bourbon. The bartenders are friendly and they'll answer whatever question you have. If you're looking for a great bar with a nice rare collection of drinks, come here. read more

Don't get me wrong , love the place, Incredible bar, great ambience , love the mood the bar area sets .. insane prices on pours .. no bottle there should be worth 500$ a pour like the OFC .. I get it , shortage of bourbons have driven prices up but I have been to better bars with affordable prices .. regardless their cocktails are decently priced and well made , have one , let's move on .. read more

You need proof of your vaccination status to get in. I decided to come check out the Rickhouse for some cocktails and I have to say I would not come back. As soon as you walk in the atmosphere is great and to see all the bottles on the walls meant that they could make anything in this place. I asked our bartender for some spicy mango margaritas and he informed us that they don't have margaritas or house margaritas for that matter. That's disappointing since they have all this tequila and mezcal in house. The bartender told us that we should just order based off of the menu. Bartender proceeded to inform us that the "real" bartenders left once the pandemic hit and now they specialize on what's in the menu. We ended up ordering from the menu after all. Our drinks were good but let's just say we only stayed for one round. read more
