After posting my issues here- Greg immediately reached out and offered to come check it out himself. He came, explained how to repair the issue and assured my husband that if there truly was any plaster issue he would address it through the warranty. They worked everything out to my husbands satisfaction (he can be even more critical than me). If anything changes I will update accordingly but as of now our issues are resolved pending an acid wash. If you have any issues- reach out to the office directly.

I worked closely with Ben, who really took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and brought my vision to life. He collaborated with me on the design, paid attention to every detail, and the end result is a pool that honestly exceeded my expectations! It looks absolutely incredible. What I appreciated most was how honest and straightforward he was throughout the process. There was never any pressure or upselling. Just genuine guidance and expertise. The entire team was responsive, communicative, and made everything feel seamless. On top of that, their pricing was very reasonable, especially considering the quality of work delivered. I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out and would highly recommend Pools R Us to anyone looking to build a pool. Truly a great experience all around!

Edgar was incredibly hands on throughout the entire process and truly cared about every detail of the project. I want to mention his crew are the exact same way, polite, neat and a pleasure they make sure everything is done perfectly! From the initial design phase to the final touches Edgar was present involved and fully committed to making sure everything came together beautifully. That being said we could not be more thrilled with our final result. Our yard feels like a true outdoor oasis, and we are so grateful for Edgar's talent and dedication. we would highly recommend Distinctive Exteriors to anyone looking for a thoughtful, talented, and highly detail-oriented landscape designer!

So, when it came to replastering an existing 'model home' pool albeit a modest pool (originally built by Nevada Pools) that was deteriorating, I called Distinctive. All in all, I figured it to be a straight forward job as the footprint would be staying the same. Owner Edgar Herrera impressed me as knowledgeable and well equipped. Upon his recommendation, I also decided to replace the waterline tile. I was so confident in him that I did not feel the need to even stay in town to oversee the process. For this job, I selected a quartz product (new to me) in Cappuccino, and I was excited for the change to come. Throughout the process, however, I felt as though my job was just too small and not a priority. In fact, I know that Distinctive was performing a large scale new build near me as more than once, I was told that a rep would swing by after visiting the other site. Had my son not been home when my pool was initially filled (we did this twice), it would have overflowed into the backyard. While Edgar did respond to my concerns, I feel that had he and his team been more proactive I would not have needed to shoot off trouble calls after hours. My main concern involved the quartz material as rendered (which I was viewing as cell phone photos from my son). While Edgar did initially tell me that the pool needed to be 'swept' after being filled with water, I interpreted that to mean the pool needed to be cleaned to establish the correct water quality and PH. It had not occurred to me that the plastering process was not yet completed?! I have never had a pool contractor hand off a job that was not actually done and ready for swimmers. Further, Edgar knew that I had not yet hired a new pool tech. Long story short, I have a distinctive pool all right (see photos). I refuse to believe that the resulting mottling, uneven distribution of quartz and staining in the body of the pool are my fault. To his credit, Edgar did have his plaster sub, Rainbow Pool Plastering, return to perform an acid wash on the pool, but it really is no better and certainly does not reflect the nearly $30K spent on it. I am still waiting on the pool accessory kit $500. The only reason this is not a 1-Star Review is because Edgar is a nice guy and I do not believe this was his desired outcome either. To anyone considering a quartz product, I highly suggest you do your homework first. The web is full of similar stories to my own. ~ Tammy

When we first spoke, she was upfront, polite, professional, and easy to speak with. In addition, she promised to be THERE for us with any questions or concerns. And, this was spot on! We are very glad that we did choose her and Mission West. Here are the pros and cons: Cons - Seriously, the PERMITS with the city will take forever. If you tweak it after it gets approved, add another 2-3 months!! We started in Nov 2022, and due to waiting for permits, we were not done until June 2023. Lessons learned: Make sure you review it with the PM before submitting it. There was "loss" in translation on the diagram and we had to tweak it to make it work. - We went with the white plaster. Filled with water, it is light blue. Once you chose it, you are stuck with it for the next few years until you decide to redo the plaster. If we had to redo it, I would have gone with Blue plaster with quartz blue pebbles. Pay a bit extra. - Contractor availability. Most of the pool companies contract with specific companies. There were times that we had to wait for these companies to complete other jobs before ours could continue. As a result, the project was delayed a few days/weeks. - Hayward water pump is painful. Glad that it is far away from the main house. It is noisy and loud. For a new machine, we had issues with "high T Cell temperature and various warnings". Wish they used a different vendor. Also, wish they have two SEPARATE pumps - one for the main pool and one for the spa. - Wish we bought LARGER mosaic for the middle of the pools. However, once the plaster is down, no more mosaics...LOL... Pros - This was easy: Desiree. Our family loves her. She is very personable and is always there for us. When we call her, she usually picks up or call us back within 24 hours. The communication was EXCELLENT. She really cared and we really appreciate her hard work. Note: if she did not know the answer, she always got back to us quickly. In addition, she would bring her kids. And, our kids would spend time with them... she is very cool. - Pedro the concrete guy. Don't know how to say this, he is an amazing person. Did an incredible job with the landscape and artificial service. - Alfredo rocked it with the electrical work - Sergio kicked butt with the excavation Overall, despite the hiccups, Mission West came through. Pool is great. Would highly recommend Mission West Pools.

However, over the years, we have had them return multiple times for recurring cracks. Each time, the repair involved filling the cracks, which unfortunately did not appear to resolve the underlying issue, as the same cracks kept returning. Earlier this year, I contacted Doug and again regarding the same problems. I was told the cracks were likely due to seismic activity. Based on our observations, we are not convinced that is the cause. Additionally, there is currently a metal piece protruding from the side wall they built, along with other issues. We have documented these problems over time with photos and emails. After raising these issues again and requesting further assistance to address the underlying problem, we did not receive any additional follow-up communication. Because of this, we are now exploring other options to resolve the issue. Overall, while the initial build experience was positive, our experience with follow-up repairs and warranty support has been disappointing. I am sharing this so future customers can be sure to ask detailed questions about warranty coverage and long-term repair solutions before moving forward.

I was told some piping needed to be replaced, and I was taken advantage of. I was notified that the work had been completed, so I paid the balance of $800. Come to find out, the pipes weren't replaced! When I contacted Jesus about this, he knew the pipes hadn't been replaced, lying to me that it was. When I asked to be reimbursed, I was told that his contractor didn't do the work and that he (Jesus) was out of money for the materials. That's not my problem. He then promised to pay $400 in two weeks (Feb. 15th) and the balance on March 1st. This hasn't happened, or I might've refrained from writing this review. I've tried calling, but the calls go straight to voice mail. I've texted but have not received a reply. I've given him the courtesy of a few extra days and that I would be filing a suit in small claims court. I'm not even asking for the money back after four weeks of no service, even though I paid in advance. Ideally, I'd still like to work this out, but I am not opposed to moving forward with a claim. I hope no one else is experiencing service like this!
