Well, dishes are ok, I mean tasty. You can tell that got quality ingredients are used. The restaurant is on the expensive side. The service staff is very friendly. Will I come again ? I think I try the other restaurants here.

Well after hearing from various sources making me aware that dining out at a Rick Stein establishment will leave a considerable hole in one's pocket, I avoided his seafood restaurant and after dining out at his fish and chip shop/restaurant I was inclined to agree, £77 for fish and chips for four, okay that did include a bottle of wine, but the food was first class as expected, but I'm not here to talk about this establishment, bit this little known cafe, secreted in one of Padstow's tiny back street, away from the crowds. This is a quite a small restaurant, but they layout does allow you to dine at your own table and not brush against other diners. The Menus isn't fish based as some would have thought, but has a quite a varied menu. Our first courses was Rick's version of Pho, which I found to be amazingly true to its origin's with the different ingredients bouncing around on my taste buds, leaving a pleasant spicy feeling. Avoiding the fish dishes, I opted for the rib eye steak, yes I know, boring, but I just fancied steak having had oysters and fish only the day before. The steak was cooked to perfection, my daughter loves her steak 'blue' and she found it to be just how she likes it. My wife had fish breaded goujons and found the breaded coating to be very light unlike some that tend to be used to hold the fish together. For dessert and being a chocoholic, I buried my face into a large slice of sunken chocolate cake accompanied with pouring cream. One thing i did find was that the portions were very generous and some diners would have found the Pho to be quite substantial and with the total bill being in the region of £160 for four, including 2 bottles of wine, beers and sparkling water, and exceptional service, I found the cost of dining out here to be very reasonable. NB: This cafe also offers B&B accomodation.

The first time we went to Rick Stein's Cafe it was out of curiosity, just to see what it was like. Very bright and light inside with a variety of seating, furnished with cushions and modern paintings, befitting of the relaxed feel of the cafe. One of the many friendly staff, showed us to our table, which was adjacent to the bar area, that also served to showcase the homemade cakes on offer, like lemon drizzle. As a late breakfast we just had a coffee and a cappuccino, a croissant and a pain au chocolat. The pastries were wonderfully light and tasty, clearly homemade, and the coffee whilst small in size, was wonderfully rich, so much so my wife had two cappuccinos on both our visits, as they were so good. Coffee in most cafes now seems to be quantity over quality, this was the reverse, and all the better for it. Never rushed we spent a very relaxing hour, feeling like we were truly on holiday. The next day we visited again, this time at breakfast time, the coffee was just as good, as was the service and the pastries, but this time I tried the Huevos Rancheros, two eggs on tortillas, with a spicy tomato and chilli sauce, superb! To the rear of the cafe is a courtyard area and the very well furnished, but compact toilets. As an aside on the first day we visited, the man himself came into the cafe, but by the time I had taken a double take, he was already on his way out again!

Went here for a lunch with the girls having being living in Cornwall for a few months and no sampling of rick stein. The cafe was very busy on a beautiful sunny winters day. The service was good but the food took quite a while. We each had fish cake appetiser which were tiny and not very exciting. I had the moules frites which were yum combined with a glass of wine. Nothing amazing but a nice casual spot in the cute town of padstow

The best spanish garlic soup ("sopa de ajo," I think) I've ever had. I have endured nary a flu nor a vampire attack since.

It's a small restaurant right in Padstow that does small plates that focus on seafood. To start, their cocktails were great! I wish I could remember the one I got but I added a photo of it. I think it had passion fruit in it. It was so good! My friend's favorite dish was the scallops and mine were the prawns. :) They were giant and so tasty! The oysters were good too and I definitely would order more next time. Being from a landlocked area, it was so cool to hear how fresh this seafood is! Definitely recommend stopping in if you get the chance.

This is one of the best dining experiences I've ever had…read more Prawn on the Farm is a delightful, casual-chic tent restaurant set on a farm lawn with a stellar vista over the Padstow area of Cornwall, out toward the coast where their fat, creamy oysters come from. It may sound strange to those with preconceived notions, but the place has the exact vibe of a well-done Burning Man camp, including the sense of being comfortably ensconced in the environment. The constant presence of the benign outdoors--beside the operation's hooped greenhouses--is absolutely perfect for a restaurant that prides itself on fresh, hyper-local produce, fish, and beverages. And what food! The menu is small plates...except for some larger whole-fish options. The strategy is to order 2-3 per person and share. This ensures that you are getting a cascade of delightful flavor combinations that remain surprisingly subtle despite deep character and a broad flavor palate that ranges from the mild creaminess of cannelloni beans and bacon sparkles under a small slab of baked hake, to a scallop grilled in a soup of Thai green curry. Flavors combine to gently surprise: tree ear mushrooms and fresh dill, candy-sweet cherry tomatoes and tarragon, kale with truffle oil. The combinations are so insightful and unexpected that it's often tricky to identify them, even though the dishes remain clean, simple, and pure. The extreme freshness and site-specificity of the ingredients means that quantities are limited and the dishes on offer are constantly cycling. If you see something that looks good, order quick before it changes to something new! The service is excellent, with a young, skilled and friendly staff both in the front of the house and in the open kitchen; a snafu with our order was quickly and easily resolved. Unsurprisingly, the bar offers local alcohol, including Padstow Brewery's excellent modern and traditional beers/ales, and Tarquin's interesting gins. The POTL team also has a taqueria in Padstow, and apparently the temporary tent will be replaced with a permanent structure next year. I hope they find a way to retain the current feeling of the place, because it's just perfect (even though the season is quite short). Be sure to reserve WELL in advance. Though you have no sense of packed busyness while there, this place books out during the summer season, and it would be a pity to miss out on food that tidily upends Britain traditional reputation for bad cooking.

The place is located at the working harbor, adjacent to the National Lobster Hatchery and--authentically if not attractively--with a view of the car park rather than the bay. Rick Stein is peculiarly ubiquitous in Padstow, with shops, restaurants and even accommodations. It's all very odd and almost Disney-ish, but we figured we should see what all the fuss is about. Glad we did! The fish & chips are a distinct blast from the past, in a good way: the cod was a thick, clean white slab like I haven't seen since the 1970's and both fish and chips are cooked in flavorful beef tallow, as is traditional. While the fish is spectacular and unprecedented, the chips were undistinguished and disappointing, though apparently exactly what the world expects them to be these days...everywhere the same. I prefer the more traditional version found on the quaint pleasure boat harbor-front of the town just a hundred meters away. More modern touches included a delightful spinach and watercress salad with an Asian dressing, and Rick Stein's gin and tonic, brewed up by local Tarquin's distillery using Stein's proprietary recipe that features the unusual flavors of anise and grapefruit peel.

Gift shop next door - but don't be fooled - Rick has some batter mix there for £3 - you think their must be some special ingredients in it - but alas, just flour and anticaking agents - come on Rick - bit of a joke, aye?

We felt so lucky to get to enjoy an amazing review! Our server brought us menus and waters right away. He wasn't very enthusiastic but it kind of became a funny point throughout the meal. WONDERFUL. Everything my party ordered was devoured enthusiastically. I got the hash browns with tuna & the calamari. The flavors were so good. For only ordering fried food, I was surprised at how much flavor each of the items had. I wish we had room for dessert! I hope to come back if I'm ever in the area again.

Very frustrating to wait so long for a depressing looking and tasting meal.
