My 6yr old and I nipped in at 6:30PM on a recent trip to St Ives and couldn't have been more impressed. The decor is trendy, the service is excellent and the food is excellent. The waitress found us some space tucked in the corner at a little bar area but we were seated in minutes. The menu is interesting and there are lots of 'quirky' GBK style things. Great if you like that sort of stuff but I'm a cheeseburger guy and that's what I had. Rupert (the tiny taster) had a children's burger, which was still £6 but he ate the lot - and he's a burger aficionado. In short - this is a great place but expect to pay London prices for a premium burger. The real differentiator is their desire to do everything in the 'right' way. All of the decor is reclaimed, the meat is locally and organically sourced, even the cola is non-branded and made with agave nectar (instead of high-fructose corn syrup). My only complaint (more of an observation really) is that the music is quite loud - great for atmosphere but it was all a bit much for a very tired 6yr old. If you enjoy a good burger and you're happy to pay for it then you must try out this trendy joint.

We had the SunFlower Burgers which was exec Elle this the chip were great to. The staff were helpful and friendly willing to help. The only problem I had was the tables are really big so Vegans may have to sit with meat eaters which I would not do to be honest. Other then that great. Just needs to be more tables.

Took a while too order as we couldn't make up our minds. Ordered our drinks but the wrong water was delivered. Managed to catch attention of a different waitress who apologised and bought out the correct order. When the food was delivered portions look large but that is down to the way it was plated. The smoked bbq food had a good smoke but the ribs were cooked too quickly so they were not tender and did not come off the bone cleanly. Also had a t bone which also was not tender. I would go as far as saying that too cut it had too apply so much pressure too cut through, I now have a blister on my finger. Again another piece of meet that did not come off the bone clean at any point. To finish the meal we had the milkshakes that were huge and looked good. Taste was good but prefer them to be a thick shake. As an attempt at being a bbq and grill they are ok, just need to cook the meat so it is tender.

Nice décor inside, knowledgeable staff, and the food was pretty good too. We shared the BBQ meat plate, and whilst it was not bad, the coleslaw was too wet and the brisket was too dry - but overall a good 'American' effort... would recommend you get a 'bathroom' sign, rather than toilets :-)

We had an early sitting which meant that we got offered any table we wanted, which I always love. The good: 1) The décor and music were really cool. 2) Our waitress was lovely and helpful without being too intrusive. 3) The nachos were the best part of our meal. The tortillas were freshly fried which made them really tasty. I could have eaten more! The not so good: 1) The drinks wasn't that great. I like really thick milkshakes made with ice cream, but these ones tasted just like flavoured milk. I would have rather have had nesquick. And my pina colada was served with a lemon slice! So - the rest? Well, my bacon cheeseburger was huge but I wasn't really a fan. I just didn't enjoy it very much. It didn't say anything about sauce but it came covered in sweet BBQ sauce which I wouldn't normally have - add that to the sweet bread roll and it was just too much sweetness for me. My boyfriend got a chicken burger and I really wish I'd gone for that instead. Please understand that this review is based on my own tastes and I urge everyone to give it a go, but it just wasn't for me.

There are at least three different veggie burgers to choose from. I had the Halloumi burger both times because it was AMAZING and I could not get it out of my head! Hallounmi cheese, sundried tomatoes, portabella mushroom, and more in it. I was so satisfying and 'meaty'. I would love to try the other veggie burgers but I couldn't resist the Halloumi one again. It was served with thin chips and great homemade coleslaw. The chips were nice but nothing special and the tasty coleslaw portion was a bit on the small side (order extra). The décor is fresh and funky and the music is brilliant (feel good old classics). They even have special offers on a Monday. No phone signal as it is in a basement, so you actually have to talk to each other!

Sometimes I feel bad about writing reviews of places because I really, really want to enjoy them,…read morebut they let me down. That was my experience at The Meat Counter. It's a cute little restaurant with a small number of seats, but that's not a deterrent. The burgers on the board looked absolutely amazing, so we decided to get one cheeseburger with blue cheese and bacon and one of the bbq pork burgers (topped with bbq pork). We also split their animal-style cheesy chips. I also had a root beer (yes, they have root beer in the UK!) So the burgers. We split them in half, and they were two different buns. The bun on the pork burger was the right size, but a bit stale and crumbly. I would have preferred the burger to be cooked a bit more pink in the middle. And unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of flavor all around (the meat definitely needed more seasoning.) The cheese burger had a massive bun. It was way too big for the size of the patty, so we ended up eating only part of it. And with a blue cheese burger, I expect a nice rich experience, but it was still kind of bland and under-seasoned. And the animal-style cheesy chips. Coming from the US, I expected an In-N-Out animal style thing, and they were just some chips with a bland cheese sauce and a few chopped pickles. Not quite the animal style I was hoping for. So a good effort, but for me, it was lacking. Which is unfortunate. It's a super cool venue, and the music was great, and the workers were super friendly (and attractive!), but the food just really didn't stand up for me.

Cannot believe how good the food was!…read more I'm in Rock on business for a few weeks, so me and a colleague are doing the rounds and trying out all the local bars, pubs and restaurants, and this place is by far the best. The food was extremely well priced for the quality, and was presented very professionally. We both has the Warne's Slider Burgers and they are possibly the best I have ever eaten. It's hidden round the back of the cinema in Wadebridge, so if you're in that neck of the woods you absolutely, must, most definitely go there. Also, have the Key Lime Pie for desert. Inside there are few tables downstairs adjacent to the well-stocked bar, as well as sizeable area upstairs. We sat downstairs on the four occasions we visited, the restaurant has a great atmosphere, the staff are friendly and efficient, nothing is too much trouble. The menu has a varied selection of dishes, from steaks and burgers, to salads and pasta. Obviously visiting on so many occasions, between us we tried a wide variety of the dishes, not a bad one amongst them, but the Sea Bass with asparagus, tomatoes and warm crab mashed potato was an absolute triumph! The desserts were equally impressive, with the ever present staples of Sticky Toffee pudding and Chocolate Brownie sundaes, wonderful. Again the pick of the dishes for me was the Lemon Posset with warm blueberry compote, served in a Kilner Jar, with Honeycomb Ice Cream, a heavenly dessert. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough, food is rarely this good!
