Our family group dropped in here for lunch, the menu was predominately sea food based so if you wanted meat ie a burger then you was out of luck. The young waiting staff where very efficient even to the point of noticing that one of us had dropped a fork whilst eating so quickly replaced it, you don't get that often. It wasn't very busy though. Most of us had fish & chips which was good & well presented but on the menu as a light bite. We had a nice table on the terrace looking over the harbour. My only criticism was that close to the serving hatch from the kitchen sat a black Labrador with a huge fresh bone!!!

I went for two starters, so 2nd one was: whelks on sourdough bread. Yes. With the right amount of chewiness, watercress on the side...I cannot express how much I loved it. Didn't eat bread as am not a bread person but shell fish....yum. The menu didn't have dairy-free desserts so they made me dairy-free pavlova which was so absolutely perfect - I'm taking off my imaginary hat. Service was good - attentive and making me feel very welcome. If you're ever in Newquay - go for it.

The only thing she could eat here was chips. I had the mixed fish linguini, my partner had some chips and my daughter had the children's tomato linguini. The Fish was very special; freshly cooked prawns and lovely mussels. The linguini in both dishes was cooked to perfection. Service was quick and polite. The chips were amazing which was brilliant for my partner as all holiday she has seen everyone around her eat lovely food while all she could eat was the most basic things. The restaurant still has an old charm to it, it hasn't been polished into a chic modern restaurant, and I love it more for this.

We were looking for somewhere to eat dinner on Friday night and everything was packed. We walked over to their door and were immediately greeted by the owner. And, while he was already booked with reservations, we were told that he could seat us in about 30 minutes, and offered us drinks on his front patio. We relaxed with drinks and soon enough, brought inside. The food...OMG. I had braised beef and my husband has the 3 fish trio. The food was by far some of the best we have had during our trip, We wanted the dessert but no way could we eat it. They looked so amazing too. We had such a nice visit with the owner, never did get his name, but such a nice man. We enjoyed every minute! Highly suggest a meal at this place. Such a gem in this coastal town

It's pretty easy to find and is probably one of the nicer looking restaurants around in Newquay. The staff are really friendly and professional - our waiter offered to take our picture, and was generally a very nice man. We didn't have a starter, but for mains we had a sort of seafood soup, which seemed pretty good value for money, considering the amount of seafood it contained (various types of fish, three large tiger prawns, some smaller prawns, mussels, cockles and two crab claws) - it's messy, but the staff are prepared and put out all the various utensils required, including a finger bowl and antibacterial gel! (That's a first for me...!) Hubby had the steak and scallops - these are some of the freshest, sweetest scallops I've ever had. If you're feeling adventurous, I would try the Cornish mead (I had strawberry flavour) - it's very drinkable, and (in my opinion) pretty strong! But very enjoyable. Butchers' is well worth a visit if you're around Newquay.

It's a small restaurant right in Padstow that does small plates that focus on seafood. To start, their cocktails were great! I wish I could remember the one I got but I added a photo of it. I think it had passion fruit in it. It was so good! My friend's favorite dish was the scallops and mine were the prawns. :) They were giant and so tasty! The oysters were good too and I definitely would order more next time. Being from a landlocked area, it was so cool to hear how fresh this seafood is! Definitely recommend stopping in if you get the chance.

This is one of the best dining experiences I've ever had…read more Prawn on the Farm is a delightful, casual-chic tent restaurant set on a farm lawn with a stellar vista over the Padstow area of Cornwall, out toward the coast where their fat, creamy oysters come from. It may sound strange to those with preconceived notions, but the place has the exact vibe of a well-done Burning Man camp, including the sense of being comfortably ensconced in the environment. The constant presence of the benign outdoors--beside the operation's hooped greenhouses--is absolutely perfect for a restaurant that prides itself on fresh, hyper-local produce, fish, and beverages. And what food! The menu is small plates...except for some larger whole-fish options. The strategy is to order 2-3 per person and share. This ensures that you are getting a cascade of delightful flavor combinations that remain surprisingly subtle despite deep character and a broad flavor palate that ranges from the mild creaminess of cannelloni beans and bacon sparkles under a small slab of baked hake, to a scallop grilled in a soup of Thai green curry. Flavors combine to gently surprise: tree ear mushrooms and fresh dill, candy-sweet cherry tomatoes and tarragon, kale with truffle oil. The combinations are so insightful and unexpected that it's often tricky to identify them, even though the dishes remain clean, simple, and pure. The extreme freshness and site-specificity of the ingredients means that quantities are limited and the dishes on offer are constantly cycling. If you see something that looks good, order quick before it changes to something new! The service is excellent, with a young, skilled and friendly staff both in the front of the house and in the open kitchen; a snafu with our order was quickly and easily resolved. Unsurprisingly, the bar offers local alcohol, including Padstow Brewery's excellent modern and traditional beers/ales, and Tarquin's interesting gins. The POTL team also has a taqueria in Padstow, and apparently the temporary tent will be replaced with a permanent structure next year. I hope they find a way to retain the current feeling of the place, because it's just perfect (even though the season is quite short). Be sure to reserve WELL in advance. Though you have no sense of packed busyness while there, this place books out during the summer season, and it would be a pity to miss out on food that tidily upends Britain traditional reputation for bad cooking.
