It's a great pace to go if you enjoy sitting outside waiting ages to get served expensive drinks, the last time we were there we waited with a group for over ten minutes then all got up and left to go elsewhere. There are plenty of bars within a couple of minutes walk that are cheaper and offer much better service.

By the bar there are some mugs hung up with peoples names on them. I hope that they really do belong to locals, rather than being part of the 'look'. There are generally 4 ales on pump. I came at a bad time however, as only one was on. Fortunately it was the one I had never had before, Kiddlywink, from the excellent Skinner's brewery nearby If I'd come when all the ales were on and I'd had more time to stay, I could imagine this place getting a perfect score. As it is, I will heartily recommend it and hope to be back.

I try to make it to Saffron at least once every visit 'home' since discovering it in 2005, and I've never been disappointed by the quality of the food yet. The ingredients are delicious and everything is prepared perfectly, from the very simple piri-piri chips up to the more exotic fare. The fact that Saffron uses local products as much as possible means not only that everything is terrifically fresh, but also that Saffron changes its menu frequently - every time I've been, it's been a completely different menu! The drinks menu (both alcoholic and non) is also great, and showcases some more of Cornwall's specialties. The staff is excellent; they're warm and welcoming and very accommodating of people's physical needs and tastes. All in all, Saffron is a wonderful place with a wonderful atmosphere and INCREDIBLE food. Go already!
