After a long day out with kids we were looking for a nice place for a family meal in Newquay town…read morecentre and we happened to come across Concho Lounge purely by chance. When we entered and saw the layout and interiors we had to stay. The ground floor is extremely spacious and has a relaxed atmosphere. There are the standard tables and chairs or you can grab one of the sofas and relax. We saw a fair mix of young/single as well family groups so it appears to cater to and popular with all. Both the food and drink menu is extensive and have a number of options but we went for the Tapas. A good selection of Tapas dishes which are reasonably priced (£3.75 for 1 or £9 for 3). There is a kids menu as well. We loved the Pulled Chicken and Chorizo, the Haloumi and Courgette were out of the world. The wife told me that the Squid were nice too. A wide range of cocktails, mock-tails or beer/wine is available to accompany the food. A large glass of Malbec under £6 was a bargain. The cocktails were well made and reasonably priced. The place is spread over two floors and also a terrace so I am sure you will find a place. You don't have to wait to be seated and you can sit where you like. The system is to order at the bar and they bring the food over so take a note of the table number. I am sure you will find what you crave for in the extensive menu. The staff were friendly, attentive and efficient and enhances the overall experience. Highly recommend you to check this place out if you are in or around Newquay.

We ran across this gem of a tea house while we were looking for a cream tea while staying in…read moreFalmouth (and wine, the other half loves any place that is a wine bar). It's a very unusual type of place, not expected for that area of the country. It reminded me of some place I would have found in Santa Cruz. The decor is quite eclectic and styled from the 1920's. The scones were very tasty (we both had the fruit scones). The tea was some of the best I've had! They use teapigs tea, and it really is amazing. We both ordered Earl Grey, but unfortunately the server was a bit flaky, and I ended up with English Breakfast. (They were both tasty, but the Earl Grey was by far superior for me!) We also ordered a cheese plate consisting of three cheeses: Fourme D'Ambert, Wookey Hole Cheddar, and an English Brie copycat. They were all great. The woman running the place asked us if we wanted French bread or oatcakes, and since I like oatcakes and the other half likes French bread, she made us a plate with both. It was served with a delicious chutney and an amazing honey. We also got a bottle of Sauncere to go with it. We had a great time. The owner's dog runs around trying to get food from all the diners (and she's adorable). We'll definitely go back the next time we're in Falmouth!

Found/went to Dollys based on Yelp reviews…read more We were driving around the area and wanted to find a place for cream tea. It looked/sounded good. All in all the food was good. The sandwiches/bread in particular were very fresh and tasty. The cream tea was good but - we're talking jam, cream, and scones. Three things that are pretty hard to not like and also pretty hard to balls up. So it was good but the scones could have been warmer/fresher. Our cups and saucers were a bit dirty. I liked the theme generally, although it seemed rather confused. It was neither traditional english, nor 1920s, nor rustic. The space was really nice but it seemed almost too kitsch-y. It kind of just looked lazy. Now the dog is so cute. I loved him/her. But there is a time and a place for a dog and by your table begging for food is not one of them. I think he/she should've been confined to the bar area not the eating part. The service was really good and everyone was really nice. I gave it 2 stars because I think it was good, but I think it could, and should've been much, much better for £4 scone + tea.

Ambiance was nice but don't expect authentic Spanish food. First of all, this restaurant is…read moresuffering from a major identity crisis. It claims to be a "Spanish restaurant" but even serves Mexican food(quesadillas and nachos, which were both sub-par by the way), French food(cassoulet), Italian(Ciabatta sandwich, pizza), and to top it all off, even Thai food (Thai chicken) and Japanese food (tempura) too!! Quéeeee???? Huh?? I think they should focus on just Latin food at least instead of being so ambitious. Overall, the food can be summarized as anglicized Latin food, but fortunately (or unfortunately) the local clients(almost 100% white English people) seem to love it....I guess it suits their palate...Sobre gusto no hay nada escrito de verdad, no? Bottom line: The hype and ambiance outweigh the quality of the confused food. But hey, you might like it .... at least the Plymouth locals do!

Clientele mixed and you never feel out of place there. It might be "ladies that lunch" or hip young things (even slightly worn old blokes like me). Reasonable drinks on offer. Have run a few large group nights and if you talk the management (and pay for the additional staff) he will let you have the upstairs. Well worth a visit, my favourite time is early evening or mid afternoon to chill out, eat and read my book.
