I had a 55 year old Douglas fir that had split and was dangerously close to the house and tough to get to. The crew was really careful in planning to take it out, and Rich even came out to provide guidance. Short notice in a Saturday, but we don't always get to decide when the big storm is going to leave a mark. They were pros. Efficient and effective in a tough situation. You should have seen it! Tree out and no damage to the house. Yeah, it wasn't cheap, but fixing damage to the house wouldn't have been either. read more

Ive used this company for years (like 20 years) but have decided to move on. Rich is greedy and thinks very highly of himself. He used to be fine and do a good job. He had his estimator come out, Glenn, who was very nice and bid the job, he called Rich to see when they could get the job done. (tornado damage) and Rich raised the price $500 from his own estimators bid, on the phone, without seeing the jobsite! From $3000 to $3500. What ? I did not go with him to say the least because it was sleazy of him to do that. I am recommending Herfords Tree Care 503 630-2155 because of their honesty, timeliness and fair pricing. Rich has gotten "rich "over the years and his fat wallet has gone to his head. I saw first hand how his wallet gets fat. read more

We contracted with RTS to take out four trees: 2 dying Red Alders (one ancient), an Eastern Cottonwood (that was healthy, but as arborists know, not for long), and a double trunk Hemlock that was dying. This team was professional, creative in problem solving, and thorough. It was impressive watching Josh handle a chain saw at the top of our trees, topple 6' sections so they would land flat, and strategize for the best cuts. Lucas was thorough in his clean-up and chipping work (even though he didn't feel great today). And Ben was a genius with the bobcat in pulling the ancient Red Alder down, feeding the chipper with a dozen branches at once, and hauling the 2 trunk pieces up the hill to our woodpile area. They were a joy to watch at work today: congenial and professional! read more

We used Rich's Tree service to remove 1 huge tree, 3 large trees and 4 smaller. They were on time, friendly and were reasonable price. They were fantastic. We will definitely use them again. Kevin Weinmann read more

Very disappointed with the service. Had them come out and cut 1 tree down and thin out 6 others. We have a tree rhat goes through our deck. After the service was complete i noticed that my deck was sloping, the yard was a mess, there was a dent and scratches on my down spout, debri and logs in both my neighbors yards. When confronted about the issues rich, the owner, said that they did not drop any logs and that the deck was a structural problem, didnt acknowledge the down spout, however was a little disappointed in the clean up. Needless to say the crew was very inconsiderate of my property. Branches and logs were dropped on my deck my plants and left in my neighbors yards, which i had to clean up. Not pleased with the service and the inability to acknowledge their screw ups. Do not recommend using them. read more

Rich's Tree Service did a job for me another company said within 5 seconds they wouldn't attempt. Yes, they were monster trees, and yes there were powerlines nearby, but Rich and his team did not flinch. They were pleasant to have around and they did an impressive job. read more

Rich and his team are excellent arborists. There professional.

My wife saw RIch's Tree Service working down the street and got their number. They came out and look at what we needed. They identified all the trees for us and assessed them. Ended up cutting down about 7 dead or dying trees all in a day. Very professional work. read more

This is the 4th time I've had Rich's come out in the past 6 or so years and every time from tree removals to trimming a 70 yr old Silverleaf Maple, his crew has been efficient, prompt and always clean up. Thanks for another fine job! read more

We have used Rich's Tree Service twice, the first time was to remove a huge rotting cherry tree in our back yard. The yard is very small not that easy for them to work in. They did an excellent job, and cleaned up everything all in a day. The crew was great and very nice. We now have another tree in its place and it's doing very well. The second time we had a tree split in our front yard two days before we were to go on vacation. They came out and took care of the fallen branch that same day and secured the split trunk until we got back from vacation as the tree had to be removed. Both times they responded promptly and did a great job. Yes it's true they are not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for and we got the professionals! read more

The quote and appointment was easy to set. The guys worked hard, fast and safe. They cleaned up and were very professional. I would recommend them to anyone that needs tree service. read more

Just paid $1215.00 for one tree orchard prune and a "Touch up all sides" on laurel hedges. Apparently that means Rich's will do a good job on a tree and not do ANYTHING on your hedges. Then they''ll come out for a "re-do" assessment, them not do anything again. Use this company if you want a $1215.00 orchard trim for one apple tree. If not, use someone else. read more

Rich's 5-man crew took down a 60' Doug fir in less than 3 hours for us. The tree was in a VERY tight spot, but the guys took it down flawlessly. We would definitely hire them again! read more

Great company, very reasonably priced. We've used them for our home and company and been pleased both times!

Rich's did a great job at our home removing several trees and shrubs and they ground all the stumps. They were accommodating to our needs and had us scheduled within a reasonable time frame. My only hesitation in giving them five stars is that there was poor communication between the receptionist, estimators and dispatchers doing the work. If you're willing to be patient while they communicate-they do excellent work and I highly recommend their services. read more

I have been using Rich's Tree Service since 1999 at two different homes in Northeast Portland. My Beaumont neighborhood home had a spectacular liriodendron tree, and Rich kept it in beautiful shape so that the blooms were plentiful every year. My current home in Irvington has a large-scale Japanese maple on the corner, probably from around 1916 at the time of construction or perhaps earlier. It is a dramatic, twisting, sculptural tree, and I am so happy that Rich's works to keep it in great shape--they even move the hanging swing every few years to prevent limb damage! I always refer friends to Rich's and appreciate the special coupons that are sent once or twice a year--thanks so much, Rich! read more

I am the president of a small HOA and have been working with Rich's Tree Service for about a year now. We have a lot of concerns about the health and appropriateness of the trees on our property and have been working with Rich on a plan to replace and maintain the various trees. He is a wealth of information and enjoys coming up with creative solutions for your property. The employees are very responsive to emails and inquiries and so far all work has been completed professionally, on time, and on budget. read more

We had a giant maple tree in our backyard. A backyard without vehicle access. This tree was so enormous that if you googled our address, all you could see was the tree. The tree had been trimmed as much as it could be trimmed and still be kept healthy. Sorry as I was to see it go, it was time. The guys from Rich's Tree Service came and filled the yard with cuttings. I don't know how they found their way out of the yard at the end of the day. My only regret was that I didn't overrule my husband and pay the fee to have them haul away the brush. But how were we to know injuries would keep my husband from doing it? I can recommend Rich's Tree Service with enthusiasm. read more

This is the second time I have used Rich's Tree Service, they are excellent, on time, clean, and reasonably priced.

Always prompt, they did exactly what I asked for, easy to work with, they know what they are doing, they know the laws and provide assistance getting forms filled out, etc. and they gave me a 10% discount that I would not have even known to ask for.. good people. read more

Today, Rich's Tree Service performed a beautiful pruning job on 3 of my 85+ year old Elm trees in the Eastmoreland area. This crew was very personable and it was easy to communicate the parameters of the job. They were reasonably priced, punctual and cleaned the area better than it was when they arrived! Our 1.5 inches of rain today didn't hold them up a bit. I would highly recommend this company for your tree pruning needs. I will be doing so when needed in the future. read more

This company will most likely do a fine job with your trees. They are, however, expensive and defensive if something goes wrong. Beware, also, if more than one party is involved with a tree situation. One party will be played off against the other. read more

In May 2015, Eli from Rich's Tree service came to evaluate four MASSIVE poplars I needed taken down in Beaverton. I'm located remotely and was unable to be on-site, but I was very aware that one of them was at least 150 feet tall and was dead, and it was right next to a pre-school and an apartment building leaving me highly concerned about the next storm. From the very beginning Eli was very professional; came when he said he would, answered all my questions in detail and with frank honesty, and was very good about follow-up phone calls and maintaining excellent contact. Because of the location and size, all the other quotes I received were excessive, and some simply unreasonable .. if they even bothered to show up to bid. The others all wanted to use big trucks with a bucket which doubles the price, and I would have had to signed a waiver as they told me they would be ruining my entire backyard with their equipment. I was stunned on several levels. Eli said no problem, no big trucks .. gave me a fair quote, licensed, insured, and bonded and he had 18 years experience climbing and felling large trees. The job was scheduled immediately, and it took him 1.5 days to bring them all down and clean everything up as if nothing had happened. He even texted me pictures as the job went along. It was a VERY clean job all around, I was so impressed. The trees were so large that neighbors half a block down could feel the boom and shake of trees dropping; and the pre-school made it an arbor education day and all the kids watched him climb the trees and see the amazing work taking place. Even my landscape architect neighbor said the he was so impressed by Eli's work that he was keeping Rich's Tree Service in his contacts for jobs he might have in the future. I HIGHLY recommend Rich's Tree Service! read more
