Quality Performance was used to trim a laurel hedge and remove a tree on the property line with my neighbors. The trimming and tree removal went fine, but they neglected to trim about 6 ft of the laurel hedge. In the written estimate that all parties agreed to it stated "reduce laurel to 10ft." When I called Quality Performance to discuss finishing the laurel job they explained that the whole hedge was not part of the estimate. I explained that nowhere in the estimate did it say they would not trim back the entire hedge. They began blaming my neighbor for the miscommunication when it is Quality Performance's responsibility to clearly indicate what is to be completed in the estimate. When I read "reduce laurel to 10ft" I assumed that meant the entire hedge and not a partial job. The worst part of working with this company was their customer service. What is clearly their responsibility they turned back around on me and my neighbors and were not open to listening or making the situation right. I will not work with this company again and I recommend anyone deciding to use them to be extremely clear in their written communication about what is to be completed in the job. read more

I had several very large trees in my front and back yard that needed to be cleaned up. I had been dreading the hassle and expense of this project after a bad experience with another company a few years ago. Then one day a large dead branch/log fell right next to my daughter's play area and I knew I had to do something quickly to prevent a tragic accident. Juan came to the house within a few hours of my phone call to provide an estimate. He was very professional, and his pricing was very fair for the amount of work required. Juan and his team arrived on time, and completed the work safely and efficiently (and on a Saturday, even!). They were very thorough, taking the time to clean out each big tree from the inside. They also trimmed back some badly overgrown laurel bushes, and removed some dead rhododendrons. My trees look amazing now!! This company came and cut back some of our trees. In the process, they damaged the neighbor's roof and fence. It has taken several months of hassle and run around, now Quality Performance Tree Service is refusing to pay their insurance deductible to get the damages fixed. Even though Juan (the GM) was not only the first to respond to my multiple estimate visits - AND even though he arrived well before our 7am meeting, I was still nervous when I decided to go with Quality Performance. How could they do a good job, even when their bid was much more reasonable then the (4) other services I had come out? Stan, who handles their communication, was efficient, patient and reliable in informing me as we went through a three-week delay due to limited staff in City of Portland's permitting office (I still have a hard time accepting paying the city for permits to THEN pay for work to prune dead limbs off of the 100+ year old Oregon Ash on the parking strip), Juan (who not only took notes weeks earlier on my specific requests) was also leading the 3-man crew in what turned out to be a skillful, efficient, and attentive job of giving the tree our family loves - in essence - a much needed "haircut". Quality Performance not only did everything exactly the way I asked, but then did some additional work to get to other branches. Juan then took the time to be certain I was satisfied with the job, carefully explaining exactly what they did, and even pointed out branches near power lines that they could not cut. Because of the ice storm, it was impossible to find anyone who would even return my call - including a widely known business I'd used before. I saw this company working in my office park and asked if they could help at my home. They sent someone out to my home in Keizer that week with a quote that was fair and had options for what I needed - removal and at a later date, grinding. They had availability within a few weeks and were very prompt, friendly, efficient and hard working. I sent a message at around 2 am on a Sunday morning when a massive 90 ft hemlock tree fell on our house. I got a response back around 8 am and they were out to remove it by 10 am. They went above and beyond just removing the tree. The tree had also smashed our garage with my car in it and they were able to help us get it out! They also tacked up a tarp over the hole in our roof because, of course, it was raining. Really easy to communicate with them and they were very fast.
