Dirtbag business. NJ law requires any company that makes an unauthorized tow to make your car available for pickup at any time. Rich's will tell you that it has to be during business hours so they can charge you for storage. They also mention "cash only" at the last second and charge you $5 for using their ATM. Saw this truck barreling down the road 30 mph over the speed limit in a school zone (in the very tow truck pictured on this business page -- I am confident this is his business). He tailgated several drivers and shouted "suck my dick" at a driver at a stoplight. Very dangerous and illegal behavior. They came to "lift" my car which was stuck above a small 5 inch wall. The guy forgot to put the hand-break and the tow-truck came crushing into the rear of my car. I would have been killed had I not moved away one minute before. No "sorry, " not the slightest apology for destroying my car and almost killing me. Driving from red light, two lanes going into one, and one of their drivers in a big flatbed decided he needed to be in front of us and literally made us veer into oncoming before we could swerve back... After insisting he must be in front of us he continued to drive slower than everybody else, so what was the point? Great guy running two women in a smaller car off of the road... Great Service! I had an issue even with a new battery, my truck wouldn't kick over and was about as animated as a doorstop. Before towing . . . the driver jump started my truck, disconnected his cables after my truck was running, and then shut my vehicle off. It still would not start on its own even with a new battery installed. The driver jump started it a second time, which allowed me to drive it to my mechanic. Rich's driver even called me after he had left to make sure I wasn't having any issues as I was driving to my mechanic. I definitely would use Rich's or recommend them, to anyone needing a tow. read more

I called them to tow my car. And while he putting the car back in to my parking spot he dropped it. Now my whole front bumper is ruined. I called the company and spoke to the manager and he told him that he's not going to pay for the damages because there's nothing wrong with the front bumper. Acura Roadside Assistant called Rich's towing. My brand new car was pulled from behind and they dragged and managed to damage entire front bottom of my new baby!!!! The operator offered no apology. And stayed on his phone arguing with his girlfriend. And now Acura is telling me they will NOT pay for the damages. I am stuck with $600 bill. Please stay the F away from this business. Horrible service. Terrible prices; they basically took my car when I was asleep, then extorted all the money they could from me during the blizzard of '16. After I had called about 100 times the following 2 days, and there was no answer, I assumed they were closed. When I went to the shop on Monday they told me I should've known they were open the previous day when I asked why they were charging me for the additional day. How was I supposed to know? To me this amounts to strong armed robbery. They are rude and unprofessional. Pray you don't have to do business here. If you have a choice go to Len's. Got here and said they couldn't even when I confirmed that they had a truck small enough to do the job. Driver tells me that he can't do it and that if I will drive it out he'll meet me at the bottom, dumbass, if I could drive it out I would have. I was greeted with a very helpful and kind woman who answered all my questions in there office since, I was unsure if my roadside gave them the proper information. This company looks and operates in a non-professional (shady) way. I was stopped by a cop and didn't realize that my registration expired, hence the officer (no names) call Rich's towing and towed my car on Friday at 3:30 PM. I went to DMV on Saturday at 8:40 AM, got my registration renewed, and went to pick my car, and they tell me that they won't accept any other method of payment except cash only. Less than 24 hours and they charged me $298.00. They didn't have a change of $2 to give me out of $300 that I gave. I am not sure why the cop chose only this towing company. Bmw assist contacted them to tow my vehicle. They did not show up for 21/2 hours. The worst part was that the people answering the phone kept saying the truck was on its way. They claimed that they could not reach the driver because he cannot talk on the phone when driving. The radio didn't reach because he was too far away. Really??? This is 2018. They were used by NJM to tow my car when it broke down. They were competent, professional, and had good equipment. Would use again.

If I could give negative stars I would. Absolutely terrible. Mazda Roadside Assistance scheduled them to tow my car for me. I explained I was on my lunch, and if they could arrive before I had to go back that would be ideal since I didn't want to leave my keys. The woman told me that they should be there by 1:40, leaving me 20 minutes before I had to leave to go back to work. After calling this place twice, it became very evident to me the woman at Rich's was lying. "He's one town over, he got held up and should be on his way!" she said at first. Then it became "He's on Main St." (Which it takes 3 minutes to get to me from Main St, so after 30 minutes went by I knew she was lying). FINALLY an hour and a half later, the guy shows up. I was annoyed and in a rush because I had to get back to work. He then was very unprofessional when I questioned him as to how it took an hour to get to me from the other town and said, "thats a F****** lie I was at my house it's my F****** day off" Now I was more irritated because the woman on the phone was lying the whole time. And I also didn't need his attitude nor did I feel bad I was already stressed and super late to get back to work. Thank goodness my boss understood. STAY FAR AWAY! read more

I used this company for their services because I caught a flat tire. The guy who came to tow me arrived and began giving me advice on what to use when towing my car properly, despite having the wrong truck/equipment to tow my car (BMW, which was told to the dispatcher and secretary of Rich's company). He turned my car around so that the back of my car was facing the truck (he said the car should always be placed on the tow truck from the back). He then places a piece of plywood (why? I don't know) under my passenger tire (the flat tire) & begins to pull the car onto the truck. BAD MOVE, as the plywood somehow got caught under the bumper and began to literally tear my bumper down. We (my mom, her friend, my grandmother & I) yelled for him to stop but it was pretty much too late. He stopped and then proceeded to try other ways to lift my car but the damage was already done. After this, he manages to get my car onto the tow truck (after apologizing) & he tells me he'll meet me at my house. When I get to my house, I call my insurance company to file a claim because now my car has been damaged, so they then give me the correct number to call to report these type of claims. When he finally arrives, I take pictures of the car and ask for a receipt because I had to pay for the mileage that wasn't covered by my insurance. He then tells me that he can't give me a receipt (although he had one in his hand) but that he documented that he damaged my car on the receipt he had. The receipt showed that he circled the front corners of my car and he allowed me to take a picture of it. I said thank you and he left. Upon receiving a call back from the insurance company (not my insurance, I'm assuming theirs), i sent in the pictures and described what happened. I was then told that the way I described the damage was impossible and probably caused by me getting the flat DESPITE me and 3 other people WITNESSING it happen.(too bad I didn't record it, I guess) Then I was told that the circles I saw on the receipt did not indicate The damage caused (as I was told by the truck driver) but actually represented previous damage??? Which I didn't have??? Also, they said I should have pictures to basically prove that it wasn't previous damage but I don't go around taking pictures of my car. I followed up by calling richs towing myself and speaking to a woman, but she was no help at all either. So apparently, the company (or driver) lied and now I have to pay for damages done to my car by them. Kinda sucks, but now I know to never call this company again! I thought they would at least take responsibility for what they did, but whatever. Call at your own risk. read more
