Overall Impression: $40 for this?! (Not trying to be mean just being honest with my impression/ experience). I received fairly decent fade but won't be returning in the future. I will say my interaction with my barber was fine he was nice, quiet, and that's all I can really say. I've paid LESS at other places and received: a razor fade, a scalp massage, and a shampoo/ wash I received NONE of that here despite the egregious price point -- $40. read more

Moved across the street called "Sophias" now. I recently moved to Baltimore and was looking for a new barbershop. I'm coming from NYC so going to a Dominican barbershop is nothing new to me. The wait here was long for me on a Friday afternoon/evening (1.5 hours...) which was to be expected. It was frustrating because you can see how many people are in front of you, but regulars would trickle in with appointments and increase your wait time. Had I known 4 people would be in front of me without physically being in the shop, I would have never sat down. The three barbers on site seemed very attentive and detail-oriented. $20 haircut (fade / trim the top). It was hot and there was no AC on. Will probably look for another shop. read more

During my cut, I noticed that the owner turned his client towards the window and he and the client both ogled a young woman walking her dog. It made me incredibly uncomfortable. I am so ashamed I allowed this to happen and said nothing. My barber's English wasn't fantastic, so it was a bit challenging to communicate with him. When I went home and took a shower, I realized that although the fade was excellent, he left the top looking a mess. It was uneven in so many places. Best barber in town. I've been living in Baltimore for years now and FINALLY found my barber. If you're like me...your cut is what makes you move a certain way and give you that swag. I've been searching Baltimore for the shop I was going to call home for years and could never find the right place. There are a ton of chain barbershops and local ones but many of them have issues dealing with and grooming African-American and Hispanic hair. It's a much bigger problem than people realize! But finding Richie's has been a huge relief and it reminds me of the amazing haircuts I used to get as a child living in New York City. The barbers here have the most attention to detail I have seen in the city, so don't come here if you are in a rush. Come here if you want arguably one of the best haircuts of your life! Prices are affordable and honestly you get a lot for what you pay for. Talking haircut, line-up, razor treatment, towels etc they have it all. Don't be intimidated when you walk in, just walk in and greet the barbers and they will make sure you are taken care of. read more

I've been here a couple times and enjoyed it initially. It is NOT a place you should go if you want a quick in and out cut. But if you want to chill, listen to the guys joke around in Spanish, has that neighborhood feel. Most times I come by without an appointment and found the shop closed. (I've gone across the street to Sophia's a couple times, too.) Last time, there were two barbers, me, and another customer. My spouse stops in and she sits in one of the chairs against the front windows and observes, her face barely disguising her disgust. The place is a pig sty. Piles of cut hair are on the floor - and this isn't the current customer's hair! She said later that her chair was sticky. The trash can is piled high and the walls are filthy. Nothing seems very organized. I ask for a hot shave with my haircut. The barber opens up a plastic jar of some white balm, uses his bare hand to scoop up this goop and proceeds to dab it onto my face that was just shaved with a straight razor. Hepatitis, anyone? The barber then goes to the back with a black towel (with stringy bits dangling off it) and I can hear the water running. He puts the towel into the microwave. He sits and plays with his phone while the towel heats up to a nuclear temperature. When the microwave dings, the towel is retrieved and swung wildly around as the barber walks back to me in front. I wonder what that towel would look like now if it started out white... The haircut seemed fine. But the hygiene of this place gives me the willies. I WON'T BE BACK. read more

AMAZING CUT!!! My brother was shaping up my beard and he messed up really bad. I started searching all over yelp for a barbershop in Baltimore that could fix it for me but I couldn't find any that could do fades that well. After searching for an hour for a shop with good reviews, I came across the page for Richie's Barbershop. I was hesitant at first because of their lack of reviews but the pictures on the page were really good so I figured I'd try them out. I got there on a Friday right around rush hour and I though I might have to wait a while before I could get my cut but they were completely empty.
