Whoa! Walking into this place is like taking a step back in time! They have those old school barber chairs and a lot of nostalgia up in there! Pretty Cool! I was headed out of town and just needed a quick shape up. I've been trying to find somewhere close to go so I went to one of the businesses I found on Yelp, which is what brought me here. When I parked and headed for the door one of the barbers (Scott) opened the door for me and quickly asked me who I had an appointment with. I advise I was a walk-in and he asked me what kind of cut I wanted, and if I had a picture of the look I was trying to achieve. Pretty Cool, except I couldn't find the picture and didn't know how to describe the simple cut I was needing. But, once I described it he figured out what he could do and walked me to his chair. It was a good cut and didn't take that long. We actually had a lot in common which kept us talking while I looked around the shop because I was fascinated by all the nostalgia. When I left he gave me a punch card. Come back with a fully punched card, which is seven cuts, and you'll be rewarded with the regular priced haircut for free. read more

They don't acknowledge you when you walk in as a walk in there's no way to know when your next or how long you have to wait. Seems like they don't have anybody working in the front to sort that out so you're expected to do it yourself. read more

Today was my first time going to The Canton Corner Barbershop. There wasn't much of a greeting when I stepped inside, and I was confused about how to check-in for the first time. I scheduled for an 11:00 AM appointment and was not seen until 11:20 AM, with some barbers taking on customers who arrived after me. I was not left with a good first impression to say the least. The waiting area is small but bearable if only customers are in the barbershop. The ambiance appears to be somewhere between alternative and vintage, and the barbershop was playing classic rock. Quite an interesting brand differentiation. A barber named Danielle finally cut my hair. She was real helpful deciding a hairstyle, given I have not had short hair in years. Danielle was pretty quick, which was impressive because of the great job she did. I was happy with the end result and think my hair looks excellent. The barber is this review's saving grace, as I was going to give the barbershop 3 stars. read more

I'm feeling very lucky to be so close to a barbershop that is as particular about haircuts as I am. There's little comparable to the fear of moving to a new place and finding a new barber. I've always been super particular about how I want my haircut, and I appreciate talking to someone who knows what their doing. Luckily, this shop is filled with folks that take their craft very seriously. Larry, the owner of the barbershop, actually leads the barber school in the area. He hand picks the barbers from the school for this barbershop, so you know you have high quality talent no matter who you're with. I got a chance to meet Tyler. He was a self proclaimed perfectionist who specializes in the fade. And he killed it. He took his time making sure everything looked great, and kept checking in with me the entire way. He even took the time to introduce me to Larry and made sure I felt incredible comfortable. I've never felt more at home during a first visit. I highly recommend these folks. I tried this barbershop out on a whim when I first moved to Baltimore, and I've been going religiously ever since. The barbers at Canton Corner put painstaking detail into their work, and will always take their time cutting your hair even when there's a line of people waiting. On that note - you'll sometimes wait a little bit if you come at a crowded time, but I promise it's worth it. I had a chance to stop in here after being "in the neighborhood." I don't normally go to barbershops due to the fact I cut my own hair, but the beard needed a trim. So I stopped in and after about a 20 minuted wait, there were three others in front of me. I happened to draw Derek who was delighted to perform beard wrangling task. I opted for the wash, shampoo/conditioner as well as the shaping/trimming. Derek was personable, friendly, and engaged in some thought provoking conversation. Absolutely fantastic barbershop. I was temporarily moved to Baltimore for work, but for the life of me could not find a single barber that met the criteria of price and quality. The Canton Corner answered my prayers. The staff here are extremely hospitable and very accommodating. I was really hoping to go back to this shop and see if it had improved any since my last visit. I am forced to say I do not feel comfortable or safe doing so. I tried to take them up on their offer for a complimentary haircut after my last experience but they ignored my attempts to communicate with them several times. The only time they bothered to reach out to me was to attempt to coerce me into taking down my review because it was not good for their business. This place is a hidden gem. Tucked into a comfortable neighborhood in Canton, the place is clean, friendly and welcoming. I stopped in on a Friday afternoon - about 5:30 pm. Six customers were already in various stages of being cut. I was quickly offered a beer and told the wait would be short. It was. The barber - whose name I didn't get - was local (from Dundalk) and engaged in just the right amount of small talk. He has been with the shop for 2+ years. When I wanted to make small talk, he engaged. When I quieted down, he also quieted down. He read me (the audience) perfectly. At the end of the day, the question really comes down to 'how was the haircut?' Mine was excellent. Will definitely go back. read more

I must confess, it's not like I just walked by one day, saw a glittering new barbershop where there once had been a bombed-out building and decided for a quick trim. Nope. For years I had been going to The Beatnik Barbershop in Baltimore for my haircuts. The best barber there was a guy named Derek. But, he left Beatnik and opened The Canton Corner Barbershop. And, let me tell you, thank God he did. Between leaving Beatnik and opening Canton Corner, I've had my hair cut by some real terrible barbers. It's best to stick with someone who knows your hair and gives you a great cut every single time. I can't vouch for the other barbers that the shop has working there, as they've never cut my hair. But, if you get Derek to cut you, I doubt very much you'll regret it. read more

Phenomenal service - believe the positive reviews you've read! I came in around 1:00pm on a Monday so I was able to get a cut without any wait. I had the pleasure of having Chris cut my hair and he did a fantastic job. Came in with hair touching my shoulders, left with a clean, combed cut and even bought some pomade to style my hair in the future. Not only did this shop have a clean, well run look, but the team was perhaps the friendliest I've met! My husband has been getting his haircut here since they opened and he's always been a huge fan. I have been going here about 2 years. I was out of town for a few months and had to get a haircut, i was so disappointed when i held that "other barber" to the standards Larry and the crew at canton corner barbershop have. They consistently find a way to make my hair look great, they have consulted me on different ideas and we come up with a cut and style that i love. They are all highly skilled and trained to make the customer look their best. I had them trim my beard and it looked so much better than what i could have done. I even tried a hot shave, it was great, the hot towel facial, the hot shave cream, the STRAIT RAZOR was all part of the show. I always leave looking great, but this shop and the positive attitude they have, also makes me feel great. In a town full of people who cut hair, this place is the best in town. read more

My hair style is pretty standard: short on the sides and back and long on top. Usually, barbers notice this and go as quick as they can bc of its simplicity and I end up getting an alright cut. The haircut itself has always been great. The owners also run the barber school in the area, so they essentially get their pick of the best barbers of each class, so every barber there is quality--it's like an MLB farm system. The only reason I don't give this place a perfect rating is because in the two years I have gotten my haircut here I have always waited at least 40+ minutes to get into a chair. They only have 6 chairs and never seem to have 6 barbers on staff. The place is very popular so it's always packed and understaffed at the same time. PLEASE start adding shifts so it's not a 2 hour experience each time. So if you don't mind the wait, it's by far the best place to get your haircut in the area. read more
