White Bean, Sausage & Leek Soup; Octoberfest Draft

I saw this place from the boat ride in the canal, and I wanted to try it. I drove literally around the corner and there it was. I was seated promptly and was surrounded by many patrons enjoying their meal. Next room there was a woman laughing loud and hard. At first I thought it was a cackling hen, but I realized otherwise. Aside from that it was very quiet, although all tables were having a conversation. They have Octoberfest Menu: Octoberfest Draft Beer( Perfect for the Season) Soup of the Day(White Beans, Sausage & Leeks) delicious. Pork Schnitzel-two generous cutlets perfectly breaded and seasoned, German Potato Salad & Cranberries. It was a very good meal. Love the ambiance, rustic, cozy. Service was excellent by Emily F.

Right after I moved to Rochester, my mom came to visit and wanted to have a nice dinner. One of my coworkers recommended Richardson's. I am so glad they did! The restaurant is so cozy! The service was unparalleled, and the food and drinks were amazing! My mom's boyfriend raved about the fish of the day, and my mom really enjoyed the seafood she had as well. I had the confit duck legs and WOW. Amazing all around. The desserts were fantastic too! I had fresh sorbet and was so happy! I can't wait to return and try more! I want to go in the summer so I can see the canal. It was dark when I was there!

    The scallops. Not so great.

I was SO hopeful! I grew up in the neighborhood directly across the canal from this restaurant and, I had high hopes for my mother's 90th birthday dinner. Those hopes were dashed. Having been trained as a chef by Cat Cora, I can honestly say this missed the mark in so many ways. Very few entire options mean they better do what they offer...well. The scallops were obviously not cooked on an iron skillet and were a 5 out of 10 for the $36 price. The corn sauce served with them had absolutely no flavor. The zinger was the service - a competent server should easily be able to handle 4 to 6 tables at once. Ours had 3 and mine was a two-top at 6:15 on a bloody Tuesday evening. Despite walking past us at least a dozen times, not once did she ask how the food was or if we wanted anything else. I asked the bus boy for a second glass of wine and that took 15 minutes. Mind you, there were plenty of empty tables so they were not that busy. Sad to leave such a negative review for what is *supposed to be* a fab local high-end restaurant, but if the shoe fits...

Can't wait to open all these boxes packed so nice, to check out our lunch!

One of the better restaurants in Ithaca!…read more I enjoyed the coursing- they did a very good job with timing. Service in general was very good. I also like the flowers on the dishes. I came with a friend and we tried the pear appetizer, mussels, leek and gruyere tart, and the ricotta gnocchi. Honestly, everything was really good. The gnocchi was pillowy and the tart did not have a soggy bottom. For dessert we tried the Pear frangipane which was also good. Quite a strong almond flavor and a little on the sweet side. Overall very good, I would recommend!

Came with butter and that butter slaps. Nothing revolutionary, but solid. 4/5. * Beef Tartare ($14) Raw beef, but make it fancy. Slightly salty for my taste, but paired beautifully with the bread. Never had beef tartare before, so I have no reference point. This could be the best tartare in existence, or I just have peasant palate. Either way, I'll give it a 4/5. * Kohlrabi & Pear ($8) First time having kohlrabi, and I was not expecting it to be so crisp and apple-adjacent. The pear added some nice sweetness, and the goat cheese + garlic combo made it feel elevated. I respect it, but I wouldn't crave it. 3/5, purely based on my personal taste. * Steak Frites ($36) This is the dish. The aioli sauce for the fries? So good we asked for extra and then extra to-go like some sauce-hoarding gremlins. Steak was cooked medium-rare perfection -- just go with what the restaurant recommends. No notes. 5/5. * Mocha Walnut Torte ($8) Not a huge walnut or sweets person, but this was light and not overly rich. My friend could pinpoint the walnut in it... which is great for them. I mostly tasted "fancy cake." 3/5 for effort and subtlety. * Crème Caramel ($8) I am a fiend for crème brûlée. Had that satisfying sugar shell crack, wasn't too sweet, and left me wishing I had another one waiting at home. 5/5.

While planning our dinner party months in advance, the communication from Janine was excellent. She helped us develop a 4-course menu that was sure to have something for everyone, including vegan and allergy friendly options. Amy was our server for the evening, and she ensured we had everything we needed to enjoy our evening. The chairs in the Meyer's Den are wide and comfortable, the decor is dark and classy, and being in the basement away from the dining room made it very quiet and easy to converse with family. The room is rather spacious for 12 guests, but could also accommodate a few more people without feeling cramped. Out of the appetizers we selected, the Charred Octopus was very popular and everyone enjoyed it...even those that had never previously eaten octopus. The baby cauliflower dish was also a beautiful presentation, and quite large and enjoyable. The salads, particularly the Charred Hurricane salad, were nice light courses before the entree was served. As for the entrees, the filet mignon was a little on the dry side, but we really enjoyed the light and crispy spinach fritters that accompanied the beef. The salmon was a generous portion of medium rare fish, and there was lot going on with that dish - spicy cauliflower and za'atar potatoes that had some mixed reviews. Folks who ordered the duck breast seemed to enjoy the complex preparation, which had asparagus, green beans, and two pureed sauces - cauliflower ginger and cherry-rhubarb. The doughnut bread pudding with apple pieces and vanilla ice cream was a delicious, decadent way to end the meal. We left rather stuffed, and delighted with the overall experience that allowed our family to celebrate together.

For appetizers, we got the roasted beets and the bone marrow. Both were good. I got the duck breast for entree and my friends got the carrot cavatelli and lobster bucatini. We all enjoyed our dishes. The duck was succulent and roasted just enough. The Brussel sprouts that came on the side were a disappointment though. For dessert, I ordered ricotta pine nut tart with lemon sorbet. The tart was very subtle in flavor but good. My friends ordered the bread pudding which was great as well. Overall, very satisfied with the food and service. Can be back!

We were fortunate to get one of those. It was decorated very tastefully for Christmas. Dinner was good, portion size for price was ok.
