Did not know what to expect when we pulled into the strip mall the theater is located in. From the outside the spot looks very unassuming (like a strip mall store front) but we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in. Lots of charm and personality in the decor. It is a very small local theatre (intimate and cozy). The lobby area is scattered with chairs and art (some for sale) - great little area to socialize before the play begins. There are complimentary refreshments (water, wine, juices, popcorn, candy, cakes, cookies etc.) which you can take in with you to watch the show, and the refreshments are available again during the intermission. Although complimentary, you have an option to leave a donation (in any amount you choose) which goes towards licensing rights to perform the plays they present. One of the employees explained to us before the show that they also accept donations in the form of gift cards (Lowe's, Target etc.) that they can use to purchase items for the sets etc. The theatre itself is also very cozy. Seats about 100 (maybe a little more) - only three sections of seats - a middle section with an aisle on each side separating the two side seating sections. Every seat gave a good view of the stage. Our play. "Savannah Sippin Society", had a very good cast and was quite entertaining. Everyone involved with the theatre was very pleasant. I will stop in again to enjoy some local talent.

When me and my daughter first arrived it was a little door in a shopping center. This little cozy place is very nice and gets bigger once inside. Since the theater is a non profit they offer free drinks...beer, wine, sodas water. As well as snacks...variety of cookies and lemon pound cake and brownies, popcorn and candy bars. All they ask us for donations, we came to see "A Christmas Story". The play was excellent, just what you expect with a twist of their own humor. The kids were excellent and funny. They have different lineups for the months and you should defintley stop by and support the theatre. To buy tickets it's best to go in person and you can also but season tickets.

No need to spend lots of money and time to travel to NYC or even Ft Worth or Dallas to see local talent doing a very good job. I was entertained. The production values are great; lighting makeup and especially costumes. With a minimum of props furniture you easily imagine self and characters in the scene be it Max's apartment or jail cell. And don't forget the script writers pigeon loft. All done again on the Courtyard Theatre stage in Plano. See photo of 2026-2027 productions planned. Brief encounter with director who said they didn't have enough time but got the rehearsals done just 5 weeks before first show. Feb 2026: 320+ people had the right idea to save money and see a Broadway worthy production of Hunchback of Notre Dame at Courtyard Theatre Plano TX. I counted 30 on stage and am sure many behind scenes and choir up in balcony helped as well. Great production with minimum props and set. Do it all with costumes, great vocals and your imagination. Time and money well spent to watch local thespian display their talent.

My husband and I love and often quote the cult classic film, so I optimistically bought tickets through RCT website for the last weekend the stage production was playing. The theater is tucked into a rarely visited strip mall. There was lots of parking. The entrance lobby was quite plain, but spacious. At the end of the hall, we picked up our tickets at will call. Around the corner was a small concession stand selling cute, small buckets of old, stale popcorn, cookies, soda as well as beer and wine. The theater area has old cinema seats on a raked platform. You could clearly see the stage since the seats were well staggered so you weren't looking at the back of someone's head. Unfortunately , the seats never seem wide enough, and you always find yourself fighting for the shared armrest. At least the bottom cushion was supportive and comfortable. I could have easily sat there through both acts and the intermission. The cast was phenomenal! They sang beautifully, danced with decent precision, strutted around in some amazing costumes while taking us on a near perfect rendition of the actual movie. Lighting and background sets were somewhat limited, but what they had worked great and didn't detract from the show. The comedy was there and they even threw in a few extra jabs at local politicians to the delight of the audience. It appears they focus on some classic theater productions throughout the year. Shows that are known and loved by everyone (White Christmas, Annie, Mamma Mia, etc.). It seems like a winning formula that is working for them. I wouldn't hesitate to come back for another date night.

Small theatre (80+ seating I guess) so you sit up close and personal to the actors. Minimum scenery and props so depend on acting and your imagination to enjoy the show. Plenty of parking to rear of theatre (west side). Check out the 2023 season as we are sure to go back for another helping.

I watched a play called Black Comedy tonight at Cox Playhouse in Plano presented by Rover…read moreDramawerks. It was pretty unique experience. I used to love checking out the plays back in college. Mainly because they were free with my student ID but also because it's live. No editing, no takes, no do-overs.. everything is live. This particular play took it one step further. The seating arrangement was basically within breathing room of the actors and actresses all around the "stage". It's really just one room and everyone's on stage. Hard to explain. Check out the play if you can. I think it's playing entire month. So what makes this venue or experience 4 stars for me is this. After the play, they served refreshments (including wine) and the cast comes out to mingle and chat with the patrons. I didn't stay too long afterwards but I got to talk to one of the actors and he's just a regular Joe working on this in his precious spare time. Of all the plays I've been to, I've never experienced this before. Good venue. I will gladly continue supporting this theater. Quick note about the play itself. Very interesting. I'm not going to give much away as you can probably read synopsis of the play online anyway. But it might not be for all ages. I would say don't bring your kids which I noticed some patrons brought children. The actresses are a bit scantily clad but it's entirely appropriate to the theme of the play though. Update: Originally I gave it 5 stars. Since the review is for the theater room itself and not the play, I felt that I couldn't do the review justice if I didn't mention this part as it pertains to the theater itself. So I have bumped it down to 4 stars but obviously I still had a good experience despite my seating location. The seating matters. It's true that the stage is pretty much the room but there is a raised area of the stage that the actors and actresses will also use during the performance. If you sit too close to this area, then your view is blocked and cannot see what's going on up there. It's general admission so good thing is you can go early and grab a good seat but just be aware of the limitation I mentioned.

Make sure you call your bank before you decide to leave, or Susan will steal from you. I've seen other reviews on this, so I'm not the only one. They give incentives to people for their 5 star reviews. Dont be fooled. Passive-aggressive, manipulation, lies, aggressiveness, and microagressions, they've got it all.
