Mainly because they were free with my student ID but also because it's live. No editing, no takes, no do-overs.. everything is live. This particular play took it one step further. The seating arrangement was basically within breathing room of the actors and actresses all around the "stage". It's really just one room and everyone's on stage. Hard to explain. Check out the play if you can. I think it's playing entire month. So what makes this venue or experience 4 stars for me is this. After the play, they served refreshments (including wine) and the cast comes out to mingle and chat with the patrons. I didn't stay too long afterwards but I got to talk to one of the actors and he's just a regular Joe working on this in his precious spare time. Of all the plays I've been to, I've never experienced this before. Good venue. I will gladly continue supporting this theater. Quick note about the play itself. Very interesting. I'm not going to give much away as you can probably read synopsis of the play online anyway. But it might not be for all ages. I would say don't bring your kids which I noticed some patrons brought children. The actresses are a bit scantily clad but it's entirely appropriate to the theme of the play though. Update: Originally I gave it 5 stars. Since the review is for the theater room itself and not the play, I felt that I couldn't do the review justice if I didn't mention this part as it pertains to the theater itself. So I have bumped it down to 4 stars but obviously I still had a good experience despite my seating location. The seating matters. It's true that the stage is pretty much the room but there is a raised area of the stage that the actors and actresses will also use during the performance. If you sit too close to this area, then your view is blocked and cannot see what's going on up there. It's general admission so good thing is you can go early and grab a good seat but just be aware of the limitation I mentioned.

Met the Director, Jamey Jamison and other members of their board of directors. Well kept secret in Plano and they put out a lot of different shows across all genres; comedy, musicals, etc.

Limited parking but plenty near the park area within walking distance. The venue overall is a nice…read moresetup. Seating can be limited depending on the overall attendance per event but there is seating along the side and upper levels. The stage on this event was smaller than what our dance performers are used to and a few cords were on the stage for equipment but our dancers handled their space to work with well. The parking wasn't bad. Easy to get in and out of. The restrooms were clean and right outside the theater. The only thing I really did not care for is the seating. The chairs are very uncomfortable. If you are in the first few rows be prepared to strain your neck, hard! Also if you are bigger, I think you will feel squished. My friend who is a little larger came with me and could bearly fit in her seat. Also there is no real leg room, so if someone in your row has to get past you, you will need to stand up and move out of the row, like you are in a plane.

My husband was so impressed that he immediately asked about the season tickets. The seats are fantastic, and they give you so much aisle space so when someone is scooting out, no one has to stand and let them by. The chairs were very comfortable also and there was plenty of parking. The Black Box is located inside the Discovery Center so easy access off of The Dallas Tollway. We do wish there were single serving bags of pretzels, chips, cookies or something to purchase during intermission. They were kind enough to have small bottles of water For Free.

There is an open concession that offers sodas, beer, wine, coffee, water, everything but Bundt cakes, cookies, popcorn, candies and more! All included with your admission! You're welcome to tip but I have not once seen anything to suggest you have too. I absolutely do of course but the staff is so nice - i would feel like tipping even if I was being charged I love the quaintness of the place too. Lots of seating, 3 large restrooms with furniture in them. Even though the place is relatively small. It's a must go!! I will be back

Although she was a high school junior she was warmly welcomed into her new family of tiny dancers with stars in their eyes, bun-heads with amazing technique and well-rounded dancers trained in a wide variety of dance styles. More importantly for her was falling in love with dance again. So much so she auditioned for DIPAC's pre-pro, The Thriving Artist Project, and has been growing exponentially with training from some of the best faculty and guest artists in the industry.

My son has ADHD and they not only embraced him, but develped his technique and he thrived! My daughter is very young and only did the recreation program, but all of the teachers (especially Tammy and cooper) were absolutely amazing! Because of DI both of my kids are way above their age level in all genres from just one year of dancing there. The staff is extremely professional, and the owner is just so on top of everything at the studio. The best part of the studio is that none of the teachers or staff (Including the owner) get involved with ANY of the drama at the studio. They place the kids where they will do the best in technique and maturity wise. The only reason why we left is because we moved out of state, however we are going back every year for some of the conventions they participate in so we have the chance to dance with them. They care about molding your dancer into a professional dancer, not just a competitive dancer who stops dancing at 18 when they age out of competitions. They work with the seniors in getting them into the right collages and help them earn scholarships to pay for tuition. The owner and staff are well connected as well to get your foot in the door if you want to go more towards the entertainment industry. The ballet program is top notch with dancers that get into the most prestigious dance schools. (They have placed at least 3 dancers at Juilliard last year). They also have great adult ballet, tap, and hop hop classes that are so much fun! If you have the opportunity to go to DI do it! It was the best decision for our whole family made in dance we have ever made.

This theatre delivers high quality, fun, and professional children's entertainment. It's such a good combination of creativity, high-quality talent and excellence. This children's definitely stands above most in North Texas.

Genesis is a wonderful children's theater run under the brilliant leadership of the mother daughter…read moredynamic duo Megan and Neicole. They are not only superb directors they handle all children with grace and respect. My son faced discrimination from a couple of children's theaters in the community but was welcomed with open arms at Genesis. They even had ramps making the stage accessible for him. They made outside of the box creative choices, allowing their students there to shine on and off the stage. Even now that he as aged out of children's theater he is helping with the music and staying involved in the community.

Just love the covered parking that makes it so easy to get in and out and what a production Mary Poppins was. You guys! This is such a nice treat for the whole family with VERY reasonably priced tickets. We have see many a production, but this was just as awesome an experience in a different way. When you watch your daughter engage with the music and see her pure joy during the whole performance....you think, "Who needs Broadway?" We enjoyed ourselves immensely and our girl got to get a pic with Miss Poppins herself after the show.

You're in willow bend mall & it does have air conditioning so I can't understand why they couldn't cool it off for the full house of patrons. The worst part was the seats. You felt like you were sitting on the floor. You literally had to plop into the seat. It was as if they were made for children and not adults. We had hip pain just sitting there. Had to get up during the performance because of the pain. I hope the new location gets better seats & heating/cooling system. I went to a shows this winter there where you literally had to wear a coat because it was so cold.
