NEW If I could give 0 stars I would. I signed my 14 month old son up for swim lessons only to be ignored the ENTIRE TIME. The swim instructor Isabella (only learned her name because of the lifeguard) didn't even introduce herself, let alone try and engage with my son or fiancé. The entire class we spent by ourselves off to the side while she engaged with the other kids,(white kids)didn't even explain the program and I had to initiate every conversation with her to ensure if this is how the class is suppose to be. At the end I was so fed up and left the class early she didn't even ask why we're leaving or anything in fact she looked happy with left. As I was leaving the other life guard young woman brunette came to us and asked if everything was okay. She explained she noticed how we were being treated and offer to give us a new instructor and 2 free lessons. At this tile Isabella decided to come up and try to explain her standoffish attitude towards us the moment we walked in. I told Isabella I have absolutely no words to say to a racist. We exchanged words and I left. As I'm in the locker room changing my son Isabella and the HR director Maria, came in to speak with me privately. In this conversation Maria basically defended Isabella saying "she's new and needs more training" how come you have to be trained to introduce yourself and include the people who paid for your class. Then Maria proceeded to say I was wrong for calling Isabella a racist and that we could've handled it better. I understand Maria has a duty to her employees but her duty is also with the YMCA and their patrons defending blatant racism as "poor training" is sick. Also Isabella claimed she had another class to deal with but was roaming around eavesdropping on the entire conversation between Maria and I. I loved the Ymca I been coming here my whole life every town I lived in first thing I look for is a Ymca. However after this experience that will be changing I cannot support a company that turns a blind eye to racism. It's one thing to not introduce yourself but to ignore us the entire time while my son played off to the side alone, while engaging with other kids the ENTIRE class is truly disturbing. I wish I never came here and subjected my son to this. read more

I've been a member for several years. I attend the aquatic classes and love them. Michelle gives you a great workout. Friday is my favorite class, deep water, where you are swimming a good portion of the class. I love that we have an outside pool. I've used the gym many times. It is always clean and the equipment is all in great condition. Additionally, I've done chair yoga and drumming. Chair yoga is awesome for those of us who can't get down on their knees....same workout as a regular class but using a chair. Drumming is fun..constant motion drumming on 3 balls to music. Everyone has always been nice and helpful. I've watched kid's camp and they have a ball and are well supervised. Love our Stuart Y! read more

Overall, a good gym. But for the almost $50/month fee, I'm going to be a little picky about a few things. Parts of the gym are run down -- the women's locker room is downright creepy, and at times gross. I know it can't be perfectly clean 24/7, but c'mon -- do some hourly checks! And the aerobics room can be scary -- I really don't think the floor is regularly cleaned, nor are the mats. I'm a bit scared of what kind of sweaty germs are growing in there. Ick. But, having said all of that, the classes are fun, the staff is nice, and there's plenty to keep you occupied fitness-wise. read more

This Y is quite modern with excellent workout and pool facllities. I'm not a member but have used it when I vacation in Stuart. You can drop in for $10/day or they sell a weekly pass for $30. The machines are always clean and the staff is very helpful. read more

I love this place! I was a member of planet fitness for about a year but thankfully toured and joined the Y! For me it's all about the classes. If you want a challenge try HIIT with Joan, kickboxing with Ron, kettle bell with Christina, and boot camp with Izzy! Super friendly and supportive people, I call this place my second home! read more

The pool is always clean and a good temperature for swimming laps. Love the tvs on the treadmill.

I am pretty stoked to have left my other gym for the Y. Great modern equipment and there is always room to pick up or push the heavy stuff. Folks seem to care about the machines and equipment here more than the other (cheaper) places so that makes a nice environment to be in. A giant pool that never seems crowded and classes, so many kick ass classes. The helpful staff round out the Yay! review. read more

We love the Y programs that are offered in our community. We have been members for a couple years, my kids have attended summer camps, and participated on some of the sports teams. They have an amazing Wednesday evening Yoga class, and I love how in the summers they exercise classes for kids. read more

YMCA is a community haven. What's not to like. It offers swimming pool for adults & kiddie pool for the kids. The gym is a huge plus. I always see classes going every time I visited this facility. It could use some updating, but this is a nonprofit organization. I'm glad we have one on town. read more

TO: YMCA of the Treasure Coast John M Lass Elisha Stoecklin Shaun Keil From: Jeff Scott Subject : Summer Camp - theft of childs belongings multiple times over last week. This notice is to inform the YMCA that 3 separate occasions, the YMCA summer staff did not take due care of my childs well being nor personal belongings. Naturally, the YMCA will state that "we are not responsible for personal belongings or items". However, like my agreements as a professional home inspector, I can still be liable for not meeting the standards of care of the local professional or failure to take "due care" which children and their belongings are on your premise. First of all, your staff of young students continually spend time talkimg to each other than focusing on the children in their care. I was verbally told that "Jessica was pushed down, received a bruise" - but no accident report was submitted for a parent or guardian to sign off. Making matter worse, this last week - an entire backpack was missing with new bathing suit and new sneakers. As a struggling parent, I have to incur the cost of your staff dumping items in a pile and not separating in each group. Everything was label and named by Dawn (wife). When we spoke to the staff, we were told that we would be informed once the Pt St Lucie group and their parents were individually called. This did not happen. Strike 2, 2nd daugher had her new lunch box stolen - again labeled but disappeared. Same response out of your staff "we will check and get back to you" - nothing happened. I seriously doubt ANY calls were made. The final straw is that someone liked Kailyn's roller blades more than the ones they owned and swamped them out from her backpack - now we have a used small pair of roller blades that someone wanted to junk which I need to replace. Again - this is failure of due care - and not to mention Jessica was approached and paid a larger kid $3.00 to rent on-line skates since she probably didn't want to be knocked down. Your staff was poorly trained and have no business operating a summer camp. Also, the money was loosely tracked - I gave a $10 bill at the montery branch and a staff member didn't even provide a receipt, just that "they would take care of it" . Where is the accountability? The kids summer camp there is extremely disorganized, dirty, filthy. I had my child there, every single day, one or more items were lost (towels, bathing suits, flip-flops, back packs) and when I asked the so-called "counselors" to help me find the items, I was given an attitude (rolling of the eyes and even mean comments), as if it was beneath them to be helpful to a customer. At best I was directed towards a pile of wet clothes lying on a floor in a disgustingly dirty broom closet, or even on the floor of the adjacent bathroom. It's otter chaos, the "counselors" don't seem to have a clue about the fact that small children may need some guidance with keeping track of their belongings, and that might actually be their job there, as they are paid to supervise the kids. Better training, better customer attitude, and better understanding of expectations is badly needed, and evidently the place desperately needs clean-up. Until then, keep your kids out of there. YMCA believes that the excuse of being understaffed justifies poor service and substandard care for the kids in camp. read more
