The salon is modern enough, and the people that work there nice enough, but their hair styling skills are questionable. New to the area, I specifically called and asked for someone who could cut a stacked bob. What I got was not a stacked bob, and the cutting was so bad, that I had to fly back to my old stylist in Los Angeles to get it put right. But, you can't put back chunks of hair that shouldn't have been cut in the first place. I was so in shock at the time that I thanked her and tipped her well. Haven't we all done that? I never go to a salon. As a single mom, there is just no time. I finally went and had my hair cut and colored. I have very long hair so i knew it would be expensive. This was totally worth it! Brandi spent 4 hours on my hair! Everyone was so kind and professional. Several times i was offered something to drink and asked how i was doing. Brandi expressed her excitement about doing my hair, which eased my nerves and made me excited too. After we were done she took me to a room with a ring light and took my picture. Before finding Richard & Co Salon, I was ALWAYS worried... no, TERRIFIED when I needed a hair cut or color because of the stressful outcomes I have experienced in the past. Once during a color at another local salon, I asked for an all over color, and I left with dark brown and ORANGE hair. However, here, at Richard & Co Salon, the stylists visit extensively with clients to ensure the entire vision of what you want is 100% understood BEFORE doing anything!!! I see Monica Peavy, and I just ADORE and LOVE her!!! Today, I wanted a simple hair trim. She looked at the picture I brought then looked at the structure of MY hair to make sure the cut I thought I wanted would actually work. NOBODY has ever done that for me. In fact, the cut I thought I wanted would work for part of my hair so Monica talked to me about options, and my hair ended up being perfect. However, I would've actually been on time if your workers were knowledgeable about where you were specifically located. I actually called your salon 3 times to find out where you were. Her poor description actually made me 10 mins late to my appt. and that 10 extra minutes u added on actually makes a huge difference. Also, i should have posted my complaint at the time of service but I recently spoke with not one but two clients that you've had who shared they had bad experiences as well and felt my review would only help others seeking professional quality service. It's not "sad" that I've waited several months to post my review. I assumed it was just a one time thing and you guys just had a bad day but obviously I was wrong. Wow what a wonderful experience!!! I didn't get a haircut or color... but I'm in town for work and needed product for my new cut. I called, and the very friendly front desk person said they had 9 on hand and if 8 people came in before I could get there, she'd put the 9th on hold for me! Ha! Then I arrived and was further treated so kindly and like I'd been going to that salon for years. I've been going to this group since I was a teenager. They've taken care of all the members of my family for years. You are treated like family when you go here. They keep themselves up to date on all the current styles and techniques. I had excellent service. Got a cut after scheduling it that day. It came out perfect. Only thing is - these ppl on this app think $50 isn't expensive. I didn't think to check the prices myself because the reviews said it wasn't bad. While it was excellent service and a wonderful cut, I was just getting my hair fixed from a Supercut mess up - it was crooked and my bangs needed help. I wanted ppl with experience to do it. I've gotten my hair cut by the same man since I was about seven years old (I am now 27), so I was a little scared to let someone new touch my hair. Salon is friendly. Don't take a picture to show what you want or bother to explain the cut you want. You'll get exactly the opposite. Of course this only applies to my hairdresser, so not a blanket statement. I expect my wishes to be honored, not what they think is best. We all have a vision of ourselves and know our face and hair style preferences, that should be listened to. Our hair is part of us and our image. When we have a bad hair day, or month, or year, we feel sub par, ugly. Not acceptable to show a photo of exactly what you don't want and that's exactly what you get. read more

I went a few weeks ago and I'm just now getting the time to review. I showed the stylist a picture of the cut that I wanted as well as a picture of the color. She gave me neither. She also charged me for an all over color, which she applied underneath a highlight. She claimed that it was "how they do it at this salon." She then proceeded to double charge me. Then she added insult to injury by charging me for a toner which I did not ask for and would not have needed had she not over-processed my highlights. Very disappointed in the color (over-charged, not the color I asked for, and she tried to tell me that it would take multiple visits to get the "blonde" that I was seeking in highlights), cut (She took her scissors and did a blunt cut far shorter than I requested. It took her three cuts... on dry hair and she didn't cut anything else. She claimed she was "cleaning it up" later when it was wet, but funny there was no hair that fell during that "cleanup." Lastly, and this is purely preference, but she put six different products in my very fine, thin hair and then tried to sell me on those items. My hair was gross by morning. I had my hair done at 330 in the afternoon. I would not recommend this salon if this is how they do business. read more

I have passed by this salon many times and thought about setting an appointment. I had waist length hair, got it cut at another salon and wasn't quite happy with the outcome. I decided to see if they had an open time to treat my mother and I and they did. I was so very pleased in how I was treated as a customer and Monica (who cut & styled my hair) did a fabulous job! She has the ability to make you feel like her most important client, greeting me with a hug and smile-asking if I care for beverage. Lauren has done my hair on various occassions ranging from trims, hair cuts, highlights, and updos. She did an incredible job at my wedding from myself, the bride, to my bridesmaids and flower girl. I always appreciate her patience when I am clueless about what to do with my hair. She's always listens to my thoughts and creates a hair cut and style that always makes me feel confident, pretty, and unstoppable. What a wonderful hidden gem! I woke up yesterday and finally got the nerve to cut my long hair off. This salon is open on Mondays and took a chance and called them to see if I could get in for a cut and color. The receptionist was so warm, friendly, and accommodating and she got me in within 45 minutes of my phone call. My appointment was with Bailey and SHE IS AMAZING!!! If YELP had a 20 star rating - she'd get that hands down. I was nervous about making a big change - but Bailey READ MY MIND! The cut was superb - the color amazing - and the prices, well - you'll never find a better value on the planet!!!! I live in Florida - but have VOWED to fly to Memphis every 5 weeks just to have Bailey do my locks!!! Huge kudos to Bailey and the team at Richard & Co!!! You all are amazing keep up the great work. The first time I went in I had a color and cut. The color was darker then I wanted . I sent them an email and Dawn replied back asking me to please come back so they could fix it. I agreed to go back and was very pleased with not only the attention I was given but the redo on the color. Dawn was extremely gracious and Ashley did an amazing job. I have been to this salon a few times and have been pleased with it except for this last time. First off Jazmine asked if I was there for a blow out and I said I was there for a cut and blow dry. She seemed puzzled with that. I asked if she had time if not I would reschedule. She went to ask at the front desk and came back stating that I'm in luck as she has time. Needless to say, that was my first indication things are not going to go good. I showed her a picture and asked to do that cut but not a short. She trims my hair straight across on the bottom nothing like the picture I showed her the back of my hair looked like a heavy mullet. One side is longer than the other side in the back as are the sides. I could not see the back but I could tell that the sides were uneven and I mentioned something and she said that they were fine. At this point I just wanted to leave. I called Richard & Co. when I got back to Dallas to speak to the owner an Krystynn who answered stated she was one of the managers. I told her of my experience and she sounded like she was sorry and advised I could com in to get it fixed. I explained I was visiting and no longer live there. She offered a refund but advised she will need to call the owner to approve it and would call me back in 10 minutes. I advised that I have pictures and was willing to send them to her and she asked me to email them which I did. I never received a call back in 10 minutes like she said. She ended up texting a day later that she would rather I text the pictures to her as she could not find the email. Prior to me offering the pictures she had offered the refund and did not follow through. It's definitely not about the money but the service I experienced. read more

Moved to Collierville from Chicago so I was nervous about finding someone who can understand color, how hair absorbs color and how to apply it without it looking fake. I tried a few stylists around the area and randomly went to Richard & Co due to convenience. Ended up with Jessica G. She knows what she's doing - great with blonde highlights, excellent taste in changing colors (now I'm a red head) and able to produce beautiful cuts. She's very knowledgeable about the chemisty of hair color and always know what to recommend to get the look you want.
