Honestly the worst blow out I've ever gotten. Staff was SO rude. No hi how are you, just blank stares. For fifty freaking dollars to get a blowout at the end of service is ridiculous and it was a TERRIBLE. For any salon to be OK with their client leaving with wet hair this is so behind. They have a nice boutique area with an assortment of different items to browse while you are waiting. They have an extensive selection of Aveda products. They also carry Goldwell and Bumble & Bumble. All of which I love. I have been coming here since they opened and have never been disappointed. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about their products. I can go in with a vague description of what I want and Ryan always gives me the cut and color that I wanted. I would highly recommend this salon. read more

Clearly they are interested in offering good customer service, which I appreciate. I may give them another chance with another stylist. Original Review: My partner and I visited because we're new to town and familiar with Bumble and Bumble Salons from other cities. The salon itself is nice and well-kept, but I should have recognized the giant red flag--there were few stylists and the salon was dead. We forged ahead anyway and had Whitney cut our hair. She messed up BOTH hair-cuts. When asked to texturize mine, she simply cut chunks straight off her guide line, resulting in several uneven, blunt ends. The end result is a far cry from a modern men's cut, but passable. (I didn't ask her to fix it because I wasn't confident she had the skills to do so.) As for my partner's hair, she shaved a bald patch right next to his temple because she started shaving without the guard on. As I type this I can't believe we paid and walked out of there. Caitlin has been my stylist for years, and when she moved to Ryan Patrick Salon, I was pleasantly surprised. The salon is relaxed, and the staff are happy and friendly. The atmosphere is chic, and the boutique has interesting and affordable gifts and products. Caitlin's cuts are amazing. I always get lots of compliments on my hair, and the cuts also grow out well, so I don't have to go very frequently. Caitlin is also kind, funny, and treats everyone with respect. I love her! I know nothing about haircuts or cutting hair so I am not qualified to say how well my hair was cut, only that the haircut is society standard and entirely generic southern barbershop style haircut that is available for less at any local barbershop. The people were friendly and she did take her time and used the scissors. The haircuts are in thirty minute intervals, picking the most experienced along with knowing ahead of time exactly what you want in a haircut and articulating that effectively is your only defense in a sea of "look like everyone else haircuts." Skipping hair cuts for months holding out for quality in a haircut and it only takes a few mintues and one pair of scissors to change everything ha ha, it's kind of funny when you think about it. Most guys never usually pay too much attention to haircuts, they just go somewhere to make it look neat. I read good reviews about 18/8 and went there and the haircut was a little better but still just a short generic barbershop style haircut based off of whatever you tell them with no other thought. With much hesitation I tried Jose Eber because they had a lot of independent recommendations. Hesitating at the higher price I was surprised enough that I had many haircuts there and every haircut was so, so much better than those generic barber shop haircuts I have had for all my life. Stylist: I have gotten my haircut from Whitney E. a couple times now and have loved it every time! I have a hard time finding a good stylist and often I get a good style, but it does not grow out well. Whitney knows what she is doing and gave me some great tips on how to style my hair curly or straight. Unfortunately, I do not live in Memphis. However, if I did Whitney would without a doubt be my regular stylist. I will just have to be happy with getting a haircut and style from Whitney every time I come in town. Salon: The salon is VERY nice and clean. It is an open space, but not too big and impersonal. I have met the owner and other stylists. I drove 40 minutes for this wonderful salon experience! Place was recommended by a friend and I called for an appointment and was lucky there was a cancellation and I was able to get color and blow out with Monica. She was adorable and fun and greeted me with a smile and she has terrific hair always a good sign. She took the time to match my base perfectly she was engaging and made me feel like this was a special treat which it was! She even took extra time at the end to flat iron and with my long hair that is no small task. She now has a regular customer in me! The salon itself has a clean modern interior with friendly receptionist who offered me a drink and showed me to cushy chairs with magazines. The owner Ryan is very nice and professional and I also had a shampoo by Marlin which was amazing like a spa experience! I have been here a few times and every single time I have left with the best haircut. Lydia does a fantastic job and always gives me exactly what I envision and more. I recently had gone to a family friend for a haircut and I left that appointment with a choppy unflattering cut. I went to Lydia after and she fixed it for me and made my hair look amazing. I love Christie Kirby! She moved recently to Ryan Patrick and it's a really relaxing environment. I have dark hair naturally that likes to turn strange colors when less talented stylists have tried to make it blonde. Christie gets it right EVERY time. I keep it very blonde and I've been trying to grow it out. under Christie's care it is super blonde, down to my shoulders and healthy! She is fabulous. My sister keeps her hair dark and recently cut it super short. Again perfection! I cannot recommend Christie enough and I love her new home at Ryan Patrick! I recently moved from Memphis to Portland, OR and I am so traumatized at the thought of having to replace Christie. Thanks to Carrie for fixing me up. My regular hairstylist is 2 hours away and while it's worth the drive, sometimes my work schedule doesn't allow me to travel to get beautiful. Today I visited Carrie and walked out feeling like a new person. The salon is well done with decor and they even have a small boutique attached with jewelry and gifts. I was in town on business and wanted a haircut. I don't have a regular stylist at home, so I never fear trying out a new place. Ryan Patrick Salon had good reviews, plus it was close to my hotel. Lucky for me, they were able to get me in immediately. I had a great experience with Kaylie Wright who gave me a nice cut and style, adding some layers and giving my long limp hair some body. She recommended I try Bumble & Bumble's dry shampoo and avoid shampooing wet every day. I took her recommendation and splurged on the product. Can't wait to try it! I have lived in Memphis for almost 8 years and have never found a stylist/salon that I'm willing to return to for a second visit (these have included all of the "best" salons in town). Today that all changed! Melissa at Ryan Patrick Salon is amazing. She really took the time to get to know me, and what I wanted for my hair. She spent extra time showing me how to use the curling iron to get the waves that I wanted. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and I can't wait to go back.
