It was my first time getting my hair done at this shop and over all the experience was worth it my hair came out beautiful and they were nice. I asked if they could wash my hair before she started braiding but she just gave me a blow dryer but my hair was dirty. They didn't wash it and I had to blow it out myself which I didn't mind. Long wait time and over crowded if you don't mind go for it but took 2 hours before I was seated. I requested a service for small boho Knotless and when I showed the picture braider got upset stating too small and speaking different language with others in an aggressive manner. When I asked if everything was okay she said no English. The braids were okay not worth the hype and not quality for the price. When I got home I lost a lot of curls and still falling out as the curls at the end is not secured enough. I won't feed into another trending braid shop again it's a gamble you might get a good braider than maybe not so good braider. Largest braiding salon I've ever been to. If I had to guess, I'd say there are 40+ stations in there and maybe even more braiders in there at a time. Quick service and pleasant workers. There's the language barrier, but that's to be expected if you've ever gone to an African braiding salon. Prices are fair also. I got mid-back, smedium, knotless boho ($250 + 3% tax w/debit card). Great service ... quick and detailed. They had 2 people work at one time on my service. Braids lasted 3 months and I was still getting compliments. It's a busy place so come prepared with headphones, battery pack ,charger just in case. Lol. They take walk-ins so that's a plus plus for me. Lastly know how to advocate for yourself you have no one to blame but yourself oftentimes if you don't demand what you are paying for. Unfortunately, I have returned and not on the best of occasions so please bear with me... Dear hardworking beauties who seek to keep and care for their crown, I believe in agency, especially in our appearance and just want you to be fully aware of what your experience may or may not be like patronizing this particular establishment. As mentioned previously, I admired the efficiency and result of the style I asked for and they delivered but I am thoroughly disappointed in the lack of sustainability of the style. After approximately two weeks of having my boho knotless braids, more than 8 of my braids had fallen out of my head (majority of the lower back and one in the very front on the right side of my head). Though I returned to the shop a week (2/22/2025) after having them installed to have two braids replaced, braids continued to fall out. When the braid in the front of my head came out, that was the last straw for me and I proceeded to text Aicha at 9:46 pm on 2/27/2025. I waited until the next morning to call at 8:00 am to follow-up because perhaps she overlooked my text. When she answered and I gave my reason for calling, she said "oh you're the one that texted me. I could not answer then, it was two in the morning." I let the nonsensical comment slide and kept the conversation moving, making it clear that I simply wanted half of my money back instead of having braids continually replaced. As someone who is in grad school and works three jobs, I just really don't have the time to keep returning to the shop each time the braids fall. She responded by asking who did my hair and I said their name starts with an F and she works all the way down on the right near the television. She told me to call back at 3:00 PM because she had not arrived at the shop just yet. When I called at 3:00 PM on 2/28/2025, Aicha told me to come to the shop to identify the person who did my hair because they claimed they did not do my hair (mind you this stylist looked me in my face and told me that she was proud of me pursuing my studies before I left from my initial service). I left work early just to settle this manner (a cut in my coins if I may add and its not much for a graduate assistantship*iykyk*). When I arrived at the shop, Aicha was on facetime with someone casually conversing for at least two minutes before acknowledging me and asking why I was there. Me: "I'm here about receiving a refund." She led me directly to the woman that did my hair and the woman had just finished her client's hair. She led me all the way to the back of the shop and I mean, out by the dumpster so the clientele could not hear us. After deliberating to "be on the same page," Aicha said she could only refund me $100 (though I pushed for half of $340) and give me a discount when I return for my next style. I didn't fight it. I had things to do. I provided my Cashapp code on my phone. She didn't know the passcode to her account on her phone and picked up another device for the exchange and still could not get through to a account. Then she opened a cash box and scrambled around for cash. I kid you not she pulled out an 8.5 x 11 in sheet of copy paper and asked me to confirm on that sheet that I received my refund of $100. I wrote what she requested and she handed me five $20 bills and said thank you. I said have a good one. Dear Aicha, I felt completely played. This exchange FELT one-sided and avaricious coming from my side as a customer and I do not believe my time and resources were respected or even considered. My experience was saturated with confusion rather than compassion. I take this L and graciously extend a critique to you: Quality and quantity are at a disconnect in your establishment. To ensure customer retention, please consider having a more thorough process for scheduling, payment methods, invoices, etc. such as Square. Also, update your website with the latest photos of your work. More than anything, know the strengths of your stylists so incidents like mine do not continue. In early August I went to this place because my sister-in-law had her hair braided there and it looked really good. Grant it, she and I have different types of hair. My hair is very fine and hers is more curly than mine. I lost a lot of hair when I went through chemo treatments for colorectal cancer so it's very thin. It's an extremely busy place with probably 20 or more women braiding hair. Unless you know a particular braider, you just get whoever is available. The woman who braided my hair looked like she was about 50 years old. I assumed she was experienced and knew how to evaluate what I needed based on my hair type. I didn't do my research to be able to articulate exactly what my hair needed or exactly what I wanted. I just knew I liked my SIL hair. That part is on me. If you're a professional, you should know how to determine what specific types of hair need. First, she braided such thin sections of my hair with braids that were a tad thick for my thin hair. They were slipping off by the third week. The stuff she put on each braid was far too thick for my hair. When the braids started falling off I realized that the stuff that was used (some kind of wax or gel in a black jar) would not come out of my hair. I went back to the salon to tell them what was going on and was told that I would have to soak my hair in conditioner to get that stuff and the buildup on it loosened then comb it out. Mind you, the day I got my hair braided I asked the lady about how to care for my hair and what to do for it. It's been nearly 30 years since I've had my hair braided. I didn't experience any of what I'm experiencing now. I'm taking all of these braids out now and that gook is impossible to get out. I've tried several different ways of getting it out and it is so hard it's not budging. I don't know what to do now. Also, it costs $220 and I tipped very well. I didn't realize until I got outside that that woman had left hair all over my back. That was totally unprofessional. She should have gotten that hair off my back. I am not happy with my experience and I don't know what I'm going to do about my hair. I will never go back there again. read more

They skip over ppl. It's not truly first come first served. I brought my daughter here at 7:50 a.m. Only 4 braiders were here. Even though she asks ppl to be here at 6:50 for faster service. They didn't start on her for 2 1/2 hours and then skipped over her when some of the ladies did start arriving and told her that her braider was otw. They need to do better with organization and a uniform start time. You will waste your entire day here trying to get braids. read more

You should go there it's a good place to get your hair done. It is kinda expensive but it's OK they do a good job.

Poor 1st experience. I was quoted 1 price , but length for 250. and an additional 30 for human hair. Before they were done with my hair , one of the workers was asking for a payment of 310.00 . I was referred to this African Hair Braiding location, and I must say Chang Chang laid my hair!! I would suggest making an appt instead of a walk-in. My appt. time was 12 and I didn't get in the chair until 2:30. However, they did communicate with the customers and were working very fast. There were soo many ppl in the shop waiting for a service. I was in there from 7 am I didn't leave their shop until 5 pm when I should have left no later than 5 i Should have let at 10,11 or 12 o clock I should not have been in there that long. I leaft exactly at 5 pm That's too long when I had a short simple hair style so I felt that they were wrong, they did every one hair that wanted knotless,boho braids. they were very unrprofessional and the lady who did my hair smelled like cigarettes and gave me a headache with that cigeretts smell in her clothes ,then she was upset that I didn't pay her another $100 for what I got done to my hair then she got made what the man told her how much my hair was. I would rate zero stars if I could. I had such a poor experience with Aicha's. I called a week prior to the day I wanted to get my hair braided to ask if the style I wanted done was offered. I was assured yes and one employee even sent me a picture of what specific hair to get for the style. The hair isn't available in the city, so I ordered it online ($50!). Then, when I arrived at the shop all of the sudden, "the hair tangles badly" and they kept pushing me to get a style I did not want. I was bounced around to three different braiders before I ultimately left without anything being done to my head. The braiders were all slightly rude too. Whichever one of them braided my hair did an awful job a week ago and she told me to come back and "tried" to charge me for what she failed to do the first time. I went back on today, a week from when she intitally did my hair (in part due to my work schedule and her having appointments, etc.) and she was awful in skill, tact and professionalism. She didn't add enough hair to start even though I bought four packs of crochet hair, she took it upon herself to only put in three, I immediately called her and told her that I was dissatisfied with it and she told me to come back, but when I did, she only wanted to add hair to the back. When I asked about adding more hair to the sides, she told me "I was going to have to give her some money." Ummm...yeah right! She acted as if she was doing me a favor by doing what she should have done the first time. She has zero customer service skills and even had the audicity to "try" and get an attitude with me because she had to fix what she was negligent in doing when I initially got my hair braided.....or whatever you want to call it. This was my first and last time here. I will never go back to this crappy place they call a braid shop. They are extremely unprofessional, chew and pop gum while they are doing hair, have kids running wild bumping into both you and them while they are braiding and they say they accept cards, but then ask you for cash because "it's Sunday." Homeless mentally ill man comes in scaring customers and children acting eratic!! Quality of hair is aweful bring your own (matted up the next day-wet/wavy). I was there 10 hours (8am to 6pm) for mircro braids quoted $180 on the phone when I got there it was $230. The person braiding my hair would stop to talk on the phone continuously!! Unprofessional. I paid too much for this type of service and will never go back. No one should be on the telephone talking loud in the customers ear on personal calls adding to the grueling amount of time we have to sit there to begin with. Big mistake, I was robbed it wasn't worth $230. I've paid less at Diena's was at Diena's for 5 hours (half the time at Diena's) and her quality of hair is much better- basically I was robbed at Aicha Hair Braiding! As soon as I got here, they started on my hair and with 2 or 3 of them alternating on my hair they were done in 2.5 hours with Senegalese twists...my hair has never been done that fast before. And it was very neat and the atmosphere was calming. I will definitely go back. read more
