I've been going to Salon 387 for about 5 years. Elaine is my hairdresser. Whether it's a cut, color, or styling, she is a true master! Additionally, I went through getting chemo and immunotherapy. The health of my hair suffered. Rather than maximizing revenue for the salon, Elaine put the customer first and curtailed the extent of the color I wanted to protect me from myself! Had my hair cut by Maddi and she was fantastic! Asked a lot of questions to make sure we were on the same page, and let me play with my hair a few times throughout the cut to make sure I liked it. The receptionist was super cheerful and nice when I checked in. Gave me a mimosa! Love that touch! Salon was well lit and trendy, had large mirrors and a good selection of hair products for sale. I will be back! My stylist, Kate was awesome! She fixed the bad hair dye I gave myself, took a lot of extra time to make sure my hair color was right. And they worked me in quick. They do take walk ins. While she mixed the dye I was given a yum mimosa- mmmm. The clothing store/art gallery/small organic food selections and place to hang out--great place- Stock Belle run by a very nice guy-- Chad. Ok so I'm big on people caring for their customers and giving off good non-judgmental vibes and this place does not have that ... nice people but the lady thought she knew what kinda hair I wanted more than I did. I showed her the picture 3x and she still gave me highlights instead of a full color.NOT WHAT I WANTED. then they definitely overpriced it. all across the board - it's fine, but for a partial highlight only - no cut, nothing out of the ordinary, it took 3 1/2 hours. The color is ok - the highlights start about an inch from my scalp so it looks like I already need a refresh. Cost was $130. It wasn't horrible except for the amount of time. I actually have a full time job and missed a meeting, but no way thought for partial highlights it would be close to 4 hours. She did such a good job on my hair, exactly what I wanted. I saw a lot of reviews about being over priced. I payed 165$ for my half foils. You definitely get what you pay for. Before my haircut, my hair came down to my chest. I showed my stylist a picture of the length that I wanted, which only required 2" off. I even explicitly told my stylist that I don't look good with short hair and I've made the mistake of cutting my hair too short in summers past. Salon 387 has an awesome ambiance, the end results were sorely lacking. As a cosmetologist of almost 40 years, I could tell if my client loved it. I am thinking the stylist I had was new to the industry and having a hard time with my easy to style hair. Consequently she kept adding more and more and even MORE product so that my hair was weighted down and flat. My hair looked no better or different than normal. Came to this salon because of the great reviews. The salon itself looks lovely and they do give you a mimosa BUT that doesn't make up for the amount you pay and the results of their work. I took my sister with me so both of us could get our hair dyed together. I got a cut as well but in all honestly, she just trimmed the tips and didn't do the style hair cut I requested, even though I paid full price for a haircut. Both my sister and I wanted our hair dyed a certain color and they had excuses for why they couldn't do what we wanted. We accepted that because we both have brown hair it wouldn't turn out as light as we wanted, but it would still be blonde. When we left, my hair was just about a shade lighter than it was when we came in, but it was still brown. My hair cut wasn't in any style, just a trim, even though I showed pictures of what style I wanted. My sisters hair was exactly the same as it was when we walked in. Not noticeably different at all.... the stylist (who was very sweet, I should add) said that after she washed out the toner, the color would lighten. All this was obviously disappointing but we were going to accept it as a loss because while there was little to no difference in our hair, it wasn't like she ruined our hair. But then when we went to check out, we were given an OUTRAGEOUS bill. I understand that this is a salon that is on the higher end, but for the end result of our hair, the price seemed unacceptable. My sister didn't even get a hair cut. Her hair looked exactly the same and for her alone the total was nearly 200. Mine was even higher since I got a "haircut" even though it ended up as really just a simple trim of the dead ends. I'm not sure if this is standard practice around here, but they charge for hair dye and toner as two separate things, even if the toner wasn't specifically requested. I do not mind paying more money for good results, and that is why we chose this salon. But the final results were too close to what we walked in with, especially since we requested dramatic hair changes. The next day I went back with my sister, who had washed her hair. Her hairs toner didn't wash out and lighten from the washing (understandably it had been one day) but we had talked and were bothered that I paid so much for her hair and it still looked the exact same. We talked to the stylist who said that they wouldn't give us a partial refund but that she had a little time and would fix it immediately. She took about an hour, and the end result was noticeable. BUT it still wasn't what she had requested. The people there are very nice and the environment is appealing, but I don't think the stylists have the skill required for the price they ask. read more

This place is terrible at communication and letting me know their prices. When I ask how much something will be I am told it's just a little more which ends up being a lot more. 200-300 dollars to get your hair done in Memphis,TN is ridiculous and their are better places in town who do great work for less and communicate their prices better. I have had several girlfriends who went here and one of the stylists messed up their hair by trying some new fad. My suggestion is their are better places that are way cheaper and do not give me the random prices they do. read more

I can't thank the staff enough for their help. My daughter (who was just turning 30) was in town with her hubby on a week long business trip. I live in California and wasn't able to celebrate her birthday with her in person. While chatting with her, she mentioned having set an appointment at this salon to get her hair cut. On a whim, I called the salon and asked if they would also be able to accommodate giving her a set of lashes. Totally last minute request on my part. The staff worked to make it happen and were, from what my daughter tells me, thrilled to have been in on the surprise. Leslie at Salon 387 is an absolute miracle worker! I've seen her what feels like a million times and my hair constantly comes out amazing. She takes her time and explains the process to me and if she ever thinks my ask is a little too much, she's upfront and let's me know it may be more than one session to get what I want and still keep my hair healthy. She is worth every penny I pay because she actually cares about the longevity of my hair and keeping me educated on how to care for it. Hands down 14/10 and I would recommend her to everyone! You will not be disappointed. Plus, the salon is always super clean and today was the first day I'd visited since Covid happened and they were taking health safety beyond seriously. Marcie is the best! She can literally do it all. And if you have curly hair, she can do that too. The first experience I had at this salon wasn't the best, but now whenever I'm in memphis, this is the only place I'll go to. I trust Marcie with my hair more than any stylist I've ever had.
