While this doesn't look like a traditional spa, the services are excellent! My husband and I got a couples massage and it was wonderful. The masseuses allowed us to choose who we would be more comfortable with, and the room was set up with a calm ambience. I think their prices are reasonable as well. When you arrive, you will need to find street parking. They are very efficient about starting the services on time with little small talk, but trust me, the massages are great. I cannot rave about this place enough. I've gone to a couple massage parlors in memphis (including the crazy expensive yet meh Peabody Spa) this one takes the cake. The atmosphere isn't cold and clinical, or filled with snooty massage therapists. It's cozy and welcoming. My masseuse, Levi, got all my knots out and found knots I wasn't even aware of. He was able to pinpoint the reason for my tensions without me saying anything. I left actually feeling better, able to move my upper body around without stress or pain. I just had a massage with Gene and it was perfect. He has really good intuition about pressure and what the body needs. It was really relaxing while also effective at releasing the knots in my body. I booked my aunt a massage here for her birthday and she raved about it, so when I was back in Memphis for Christmas, we booked two massages - one for her and a prenatal massage for me. My massage was relaxing, with perfect pressure. The only reason I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars is that they don't offer the pillows that let you lay face down for a pregnancy massage. At 6 months in, it's really nice to be able to lay in a position other than on my side. I will be back the next time I visit! read more

Exhibit A: Complaint: Services were purchased from this business in the form of a Group on for a one hour massage. I scheduled on Feb 19 only to be cancelled at the last minute. With the group on expiring soon, I asked the massage therapist what to do with the situation. She told me to schedule within the next two weeks. I did for Monday, Feb 24 in the evening. I wient to the address of the business and not a soul around. After I had gotten the appointment reserved, accepted, confirmed , and reminded by the automated system. I waited for at least an hour after getting their 15 minutes early at the therapists request. I left a message for her and texted her with no reply. She is not only making herself look bad but Group on look bad . This was a birthday present from my girlfriend. Thanks for a great birthday. My girl friend is contacting group on since she purchased the massage.I have documemtation and used the intercom system their to try to get into the building.Desired Settlement: I would like to see Calming Influence Therapeutic Massage go out of business. read more

The atmosphere is pleasant - I like that I can book reservations online - and most of all, I'm pretty certain Angela is God's gift to the planet. She's a wonderful person and talented massage therapist. If I walked in and didn't say a word to her about where I was hurting in my back - she'd always be able to find my problem areas and correct them. My friend and I did the 'relax and breathe' package that includes a one hour eucalyptus massage, herbal blend aromatherapy steam, and a detailed sinus pressure massage. The aromatherapy steam was private and so relaxing; I basically had my own little steam tent while laying on a massage table (in a private room). Then after a shower in a lovely, clean bathroom, I had one of the best massages of my life (and I've had many). I asked for a lot of pressure and she delivered! My friend purchased me and my mom 60 min massages with foot bath and aromatherapy for my wedding present. We went yesterday for the first time and it was amazing!! I'm not sure how that started, but over the past few years, I've had several (however infrequent) opportunities to come here. First of all, I love that it is a house. It really feels like a part of the neighborhood, and there is just something soothing about a homey environment. Everything about my experiences at Calming Influence has been relaxing.
