The food was honestly solid - very comforting, warm, fresh, umami, and left me feeling pretty good. The one catch for me is the price - I paid around $11 for one onigiri, but personally wasn't completely satisfied after eating one. This might not be an issue for other people though, in which case $11 would be a good price point for a more affordable meal. Pricey for a decent size for onigiri however it is full of toppings. I can't complain. It is always made fresh so that is a bug thumbs up for me. Justified by being next to a college, I wouldn't go here if you are just visiting as the price is crazy for food you could easily get anywhere else. Ordered delivery twice from here in the past few months and have to give it my 5-stars. It was really great both times. The croquettes were so tasty and flavorful. Plus they come with this amazing spicy ketchup sauce that's so perfect for dipping. When I first ordered from here I was kind of concerned that there wouldn't be enough food because the actual like rice burgers don't look that big on their pictures. Do not fear! They are pretty big (about the size of an actual burger). They taste so good also! These are perfect if you are avoiding bread or something because they don't have any. My only point of caution is the egg that comes with each onigiri - the egg patty is a bit sponge-y and jelly-like. The texture was weird for me but it didn't have a strong flavor so it didn't throw me off that much. The onigiri are portable, but I did wish the bag it came in was a little smaller since it made it harder to eat/get to the onigiri inside. TL;DR good place for a quick bite to eat, though slightly on the pricier side. Removing gluten from your diet means a lot of normal grab-and-go foods are no longer an option: sandwiches, pizza, burgers, etc. Luckily, Riceful is another option! I usually order online and park in the lot across the street-- free for one hour, and by the time I get down, my order is usually ready. The food is always pretty good. My personal favorite is the unagi onigiri, as they give a healthy portion of unagi, but I haven't had an order that I wasn't pleased with. They go a bit heavy on the mayo, though, so you may want to ask for less. My only real complaint is the price. It's not substantially larger than rice triangles at other places, but costs about three times as much, so I usually opt for another option. I happened to come across this place in downtown Berkeley after I picked up my Yelp 2020 goodie bag at Coffee 1951. It is in an ideal location that is fairly visible to foot traffic, and instantly caught my eye. The specialty here is Okinawa style onigiri, which is considerably larger than your standard variety. As a matter of fact, each one is about the size of a burger or sandwich, so a single order alone could possibly be enough to fill you up. With that said, based on the pricing in the $6 to $10+ range, that is what one should come to expect. Or is it...? On my first visit, I opted to try the "unagi onigiri," which runs a cool $10. Not bad at all! It is actually very tasty. The issue though... is the price. For what it is, it is great, but I wouldn't say it is anywhere near as filling as many of the full sized meal options in the neighborhood for much less. Yes, I do know that Japanese fare is typically more expensive, and you are paying for the novelty, but onigiri is still for all intents and purposes, fast food, so it is somewhat difficult to justify paying so much for what amounts to a large snack. In this area full of college students, it is definitely not the most economical choice. As far as the service goes, there really isn't much to speak of during the lockdown, of course. All you basically do is walk up to the touch pad, place your order, and the worker will robotically make it. You will receive a text when it is ready. Ever since Riceful opened up, I have always gotten their Pork Boy with Cheese! It was my first time going since the pandemic and the quality is still so yummy! I recommend ordering from the SnackPass app instead for easier, safer, and faster order process. The food is made to order so I had to wait for 10min or so which is understandable. Overall, the onigiri was delicious and filling. The sauce is very flavorful and the filling is sufficient. I think the seaweed salad made a great addition to the onigiri. Since it was wrapped, the geso was a bit soggy when I ate it. It will be great if there's more flavor to the egg as well. I had one with purple rice before and I really like the rice texture. We decided to try 3 different ones: the salmon onigiri, unagi onigiri, and the double shrimp tempura onigiri. These are shaped like a taco and most of their onigirs comes with egg, spam, rice, and seaweed. With tax, each comes to about $9-$10. My favorite was their shrimp tempura onigiri because it was crunchy, had flavor, and was EASY to eat.
