Rice Paper is one of my favorite Thai Restaurants in North Canton. Great service, great atmosphere and great menu selection. We started off with their Potstickers which are absolutely delicious! I got a bowl of Tom Yum Goong soup that hit the spot on a cold and raining NE Ohio day and for the main event I got the Pad See EW and my wife got the Lard Nar Noodles. I'm kind of stuck at a 3 for this one. Our server was quite friendly, but I don't think that could compensate for the food. We ordered the signature Rice Paper fried rice (it was lunch, but we got the dinner portion so we could share) and we also had the summer rolls. Both were pretty average. The larger portion of the fried rice only had three lousy pieces of shrimp, and my son wanted more. The summer rolls were just okay. I didn't care for the sauce that came with them. It was a pricey bill for one entree, one app, one water, and one ice tea. The venue is quite lovely and very clean. But between the ambiance and the service, that's where the goodness ends. The food just wasn't cutting it for us. I don't think I'll come back here, sadly. read more

Sunday lunch! We wanted to try somewhere different and had a hankering for Asian food. First time here for everyone. It wasn't super busy around 1215 this Sunday afternoon, so we got right in. The place isn't overly large, so I can see it requiring a wait sometimes. Parking isn't ample either. Forget about turning left when you leave. The service was good and friendly and mostly attentive. The food was excellent. First time with Pad Thai and it was phenomenal. Everyone loved their food. Only reason it's a 4 and not a 5 is because the potstickers weren't very warm. So good, never had a bad meal here. Everything is yummy. Love the coconut chicken soup and the Thai basil chicken (make it spicy if you dare). My kids love the dumplings and the chicken fried rice. The curries are great. Food comes out piping hot and the servers are friendly. It's tucked in a plaza by Dunkin' so the parking can be dicey but don't let that stop you. Tucked into a strip mall across from Belden Village you'll find a good option for Thai. The restaurant is quiet and well appointed, the cloth napkins and real flowers are a nice touch. The food is fresh and they have a standard run of Thai, heavy on the pad noodles and curries. They don't have a huge selection of fish, mainly just shrimp. They don't have main drawback is the price of the meals, it's tough to justify $25-30 per plate for ala carte entrees at a strip mall in Canton. read more

I've been to some of the best Thai restaurants in L.A. and other cities and surprisingly, Rice Paper holds its own considering the location! Anyone that rates this place poorly is likely a depressed individual with a board for a tongue. I'd wager their reviews trend negative in general. Truly a blessing this place is in a town like ours. The staff is so polite and respectful, the English is shaky but plenty good enough. I've had a couple of dishes now. Their pad Thai is solid, but I think they thrive on their curries. I most recently had the Panang curry and found the balance of sweet to spicy, sauce to vegetables/rice, and quantity of protein to be spot on. And it should be, it is't cheap, but as-is it IS worth it. My biggest knock is the layout. Most restaurants go front to back with their seating. Their seating is side to side with not much space between. Thus, you find yourself at dinner with more than just yourself or your friends! Worth a try, check it out. read more

Honestly, the best Thai dish I've had and I eat a lot of Thai food. The flavor was amazing. I could just drink the broth. Chicken and shrimp were cooked perfectly and the veggies with still crisp. My husband had the beef dynasty and the beef was tender. He said he rated his dish a 10/10. They accommodated my picky son by making his fried rice with no vegetables and he loved it too. It was good, but more sweet than spicy. My wife - the unadventurous eater - ordered sweet and sour chicken, and was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was nice white meat, there were lots of vegetables, and the sauce was house made rather than the standard bright orange sweet stuff most places get from a can. It kind of tasted like a vinegary tomato/mango BBQ sauce, but with some different spices. Very tasty. Just knowing that they make their own gives me the warm fuzzies. I've ordered takeout a few times and it has been amazing every time. This is by far the best Thai food in the area. They're also very good about accommodating requests. I like to sub some dishes with steamed tofu and it's never A problem. I also am Obsessed with mango sticky rice and you wouldn't think you'd get good quality mango in Ohio in December but somehow they've done it. I agree with someone else that said their spice is a little intense which I personally love but if you don't I would stick with no spice. I've never dined in but the decor is beautiful. We shared 3 lunch portion dishes: Mango fried rice (top right in picture), Sweet and Sour chicken (top left) and Rice Paper String bean (bottom). All 3 were good and flavorful. Highly recommend this place. We ordered dishes as a 1 or 2 in heat (scale from 1 - 5). 1 is mild and good for most people (you can order 0 if you can't tolerate any spice). 2 to me is similar to heat level found in Medium or Classic hot wings (like Frank's red hot). We are so happy that Rice Paper has made its way to Stark county!! This is a sister restaurant of the one in Montrose and it is every bit as delicious. The decor was beautiful...even fresh flowers on the table! We ordered summer rolls and the seafood coconut soup for appetizers. The soup was some of the best we have had. It was loaded with seafood and veggies and the broth was perfect. My husband got the pasta basil and he really enjoyed it. I got the red curry which is my go to when I try a new Thai restaurant. Rice paper is amazing Thai food. This is true Thai food not a fusion. We have gone to the Akron location since it opened. So happy they are now in Canton too. Their curries are amazing. Wonderful pad Thai. They have regular which is a coconut curry flavor and Country which is spicy and more traditional. Their papaya salad is fantastic. I have never had anything bad. My belly is so happy right now!! We had eaten at the Fairlawn location years ago and enjoyed it, so when I saw the name pop up in North Canton I was excited!! We moved from New York City, where good Thai food is relatively easy to find. Since coming back to the Akron/Canton area I was very sad to not have anything good within delivering distance. Until Rice Paper recently opened!! Tonight we ordered the wings, crab rangoon, pork laab, Thai style basil, and beef dynasty. They were very accommodating with spice level and keeping cilantro on the side for my husband! Even after we picked it up and brought it home, everything was deliciously fresh and the wings were still crispy- I can't wait to dine in! I am overjoyed because we have found good local Thai food! It's fine. No issues with food but also nothing overly impressive. It was priced for a "wow" but tasted like an "ok". We did carry out and perhaps this affected our impressions. We requested 4 out of 5 on the spicy scale and it tasted like a 1 at best. We ordered three dishes - duck, garden, and beef. None impressed and candidly I fear nobody is going to finish theirs. My garden plate was to have peanut sauce on the side but instead it was on top and drowning the rest of the dish.
