We were in the mood for breakfast/brunch and I have to say it was the best breakfast plate I've had in a long time. I had 2 eggs over easy, hash brown potatoes, a large homemade breakfast sausage patty, and a buttery biscuit. I also sampled my husband's biscuits and gravy and I was a little disappointed I hadn't ordered that. The service was friendly but not over the top. We were initially confused about seating and ordering. But, our food came out really quickly, which is always a plus. It's very cozy and you should not expect any frills, but do go if you're looking for a home-cooked meal.

We had high hopes for this old school diner. When we arrived, the place was packed with after…read morechurch locals which usually feels like a good sign, but our experience quickly went downhill from here. There's no host stand or clear seating system, so the entrance felt chaotic. We weren't sure what to do until a nice local told us to just grab a table. After sitting down, it took about 5 mins for a waitress to stop by with the menus. The menu includes both breakfast and lunch items, but the ordering process is confusing. We were told breakfast orders would be taken at the table and lunch needs to be ordered separately at the cafeteria style counter. My husband went to the counter to order lunch while I stayed behind, waiting for the server to return with drinks and take our breakfast order, she never did. The smothered pork dish looked worse than school cafeteria, and unfortunately tasted like it too. It was overly salty and the pork had a weird taste to it. Since we had already paid for the lunch item upfront and still hadn't been able to place breakfast order, we decided to cut our losses and went to another restaurant. Overall, wasted 35 mins and left frustrated and disappointed, definitely won't come back!

A Great Local Spot Worth Visiting!…read more We stopped by this small mom & pop restaurant with a larger group, and everyone ordered something different -- and everyone left happy! The service was top notch, and the staff made us feel right at home with their friendliness and attention to detail. While the French fries were a little cold and a bit over-seasoned, the rest of the food made up for it. I had the turkey burger -- and wow, it was amazing! My daughter is still talking about her fried chicken sandwich. All in all, a solid local find, and we'll definitely be back for round two!

The great: Top 5 crawfish I've had and the appetizer was delicious. One of the only places i could find who boil for lunch (on a Thursday) The restaurant is clean and the staff friendly. The kinda disappointing: they do not serve beer before 4 on the weekdays and not before noon on weekends. their crawfish dip was "meh". But honestly, the flavor on the crawfish was so good that i didn't miss it too much. Go! It was amazing. Just know you may not get a cold brew with your crawfish depending on when you're there. The potato salad a little off and the beans are too sweet. The bbq sauce too sweet too. Fried catfish and mushrooms were decent. Corn dog was like a carnival and big. Strawberry lemonade needs more lemonade flavor it was just too much strawberry syrup I remember from my child hood freezer section. Anyways typical small town fried fare.

The first time, I ordered the barbecue ribs served over rice dressing, and they were tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. On my second visit, I tried the smothered okra, which came with a whole quarter piece of chicken and sausage over rice--comfort food at its finest. For my last visit, I couldn't resist the ribs again, this time paired with yams, coleslaw, and pork stew. Every dish tasted like it was made with love right in someone's home kitchen. The staff is kind and welcoming, and even though there's usually a line if you arrive later in the day, it moves quickly. They're only open a few days a week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., so plan ahead for lunch or an early dinner. The menu changes daily, but there's always a reliable grill menu to choose from. Inside, the setting is casual and relaxed--just what you'd want while enjoying a plate of real Louisiana soul food

I think they need a new recipe for the cornbread dressing and the macaroni and cheese. These two items were extremely lackluster and not good at all. Now, the ribs, candied yams and the roast pork were great and delish but those other sides need some help. The cornbread dressing was dark brown teetering on black in color, which I've never seen in my life. And the macaroni was just that with little to no cheese. The atmosphere is also very inviting and comfortable to sit and dine in. I meant I would return and try other options because the lady at the register was super sweet and kind but in all honesty, those two sides need a recipe overhaul.

Babineaux's Cafe definitely met the criteria, it's definitely a part of the local history and culture. The exterior looks a little worn and the parking well it's random to say the least I think the locals here park wherever they feel comfortable and that's okay there's plenty of options. We were greeted by the friendly staff as soon as we walked in and found a seat without a wait although the place had already began to fill for lunch service. There's a lot of standard fare on the printed menus but my eyes went directly to the daily specials handwritten on the chalkboard which changes daily. The staff here is so efficient and quick to describe the specials and grab your drink order and of course they have freshly brewed sweet tea. After looking over the board I could not resist the home cooking option, a perfectly fried pork-chop, green beans, corn and of course a healthy portion of rice and gravy, it was outstanding so much like my momma made, we also ordered a club sandwich on toast, no frills just down home deliciousness. This is definitely a gem in the community and a must try if you want a taste of the local culture and to experience the unmatched hospitality from the people in southwest Louisiana, this is what I miss and always look forward to when returning to the state I was born and raised in...
