Some of the best sushi that we have ever had. I had the spicy tuna roll which was by far the best spicy tuna roll I've ever had and my husband had the volcano roll and the funky monkey and he said they were in his top 2 best he's had. Wonderful micro-restaurant, we were lucky to walk in and find an open table and so happy we did. We first ordered the veggie egg rolls and they were INCREDIBLE! They came with a sauce that paired perfectly with them. My husband and I both had the vegetarian rice bowl only he subbed noodles for his rice. It had just enough flavor that you could still add a dash of soy sauce if you liked and it wouldn't over power the dish. The main courses were so delish. Our waiter - who I assume is the owner - was incredibly nice and welcoming which made the visit that much better. The service was fast and friendly with frequent visitors picking up food for carry out. I will absolutely be back to this restaurant, highly recommend. read more

Best sushi I've had in Colorado! Great sticky rice for the sushi. Rolls are good sized, but cut small so you get just the right sushi to soy sauce ratio. The miso tasted fresh and had lots of veggies, and the spicy edamame was delish! read more

Love the Sushi here, but the atmosphere is hard for children. The southwestern is by far my favorite roll, but I've never been disappointed with any of the sushi here. The other items I love from here is the seaweed salad, taridito, siagon noodles, fried pork rolls, and the ceviche. read more

So yummy! We had the salmon avocado roll and the lime twist roll. Both were fresh and tasty. The rolls with lime oil are my jam. They don't really have any daily specials but what on the menu is good and made to order. They are also great at accommodating gluten free or other dietary restrictions (as much as possible). I love how small the restaurant is too, it really reminds me of dining in Japan and Hawaii. read more

Absolutely and surprisingly awesome sushi for a mountain college town. The sushi is absolutely delicious and full of mouth watering flavor. The sake is served with perfection and a very thoughtful selection is offered. The staff, although busy and sometimes overwhelmed, still takes the time to show pride in their work and perfection in their preparation. The restaurant is small but very well worth the wait!! Yum! Thanks to yelp we found this place while staying in Durango. I highly recommend the flying monkey roll - it was amazing! There is so much flavor and goodness packed into each bite. We had the Southwest Roll also which had a nice citrusy flavor to it. The springs rolls are also spot on, but I'd skip the spicy edamame unless you are a huge edamame fan. I'd say the rolls are on the average to small size but I've also been spoiled with sushi rolls in Southern California. The menu also had some delicious noodle dishes and even pho on it. This place is small, but you can grab a beer at the brewery next door while you are waiting. read more

Just got back from Rice Monkeys.. Was dying for some Asian food and the yummy Volcano roll fit the bill!! Starting with the basic cucumber, cream cheese and shrimp in the roll, it is topped with shredded cooked soft shell crab, bbq eel and eel sauce..YUM!! My husband opted for the beef sesame teriyaki rice bowl filled with veggies, and we both had edamame, well prepared for an appetizer!! He's more conservative on food choices but kept asking for another piece of my Volcano roll. I had to cut him off.. Small sitting spaces, just like in Japan, but they do have carry out! read more
