    Mapo tofu clay pot rice
    Rafael N.

Walked in with no wait on a Sunday at 12:15. Got really busy at around 1 though and you'd probably have to wait at that point. Food: Crispy intestine - so so good and crispy. This really. I wish they had a clay pot rice version of this For the clay pot rice you get to choose between two rice types (pork or beef) and the topping is what you order (see below). Braised pork - got it with the pork and bok choy heart rice. honestly a bit disappointing and I've had better even cooked by friends. Crispy rice at the bottom was nice though but the flavour was a bit flat. 3.5 Mapo tofu - got it with the beef rice. This was pretty good. Had a good spice to it. 4 Service: Was good overall and prompt. No issues Ambiance: Ambiance was kinda nice actually. Decor was nice. Medium scale, well presented.

We beat the lunch rush and luckily didn't have to wait to get seated. We ordered the crispy pork intestines, their signature pork belly pot and the mapo tofu. Our favourite was the intestines! We wanted to order another one. Both main dishes were great and the portions were so generous. We had to pack both mains to-go. The interior was lovely and their clay pots were absolutely beautiful. Would definitely come back again!

Delicious and affordable! The ceiling is decorated with lots of paper lanterns that brighten the whole restaurant. They've got a beautiful collection of clay pots that adorn the walls and each meal is served in one of these pretty pots! Had dinner here for two. Plenty of seating, great for 2-4 people! We did have to wait for about 20mins. They have a machine where you can sign up to get notified when your table is ready Here's what we ordered: * Signature Braised Pork Belly Pot Rice $$18.99 * Traditional Stir-Fry chicken in sauce pot rice $16.99 Would definitely come back to try their other menu items. The washrooms clean and there's lots of parking in the midland and finch plaza. Our servers were very helpful at explaining the menu items and giving us great recommendations. 20260322

Loved the food here ! Rice clay pots came pipping hot! There is a nice rice crust at the bottom of the pot. We loved all 3 types we got! Buddha's imperial, mapo tofu and braised pork belly. My personal favourite was the Buddha's imperial since the seafood was delicious! I also recommend getting the membership!

Super cozy, clean, and aesthetic spot for clay pot rice. The slay pots come with plenty of sauce, and the rice at the bottom has that perfect crispy layer. I also loved the little details like the chopsticks with tiny red hearts, which were super cuteee. We ordered the kung pao chicken and the braised chicken, and both were delicious. I personally preferred the braised chicken since it had a little hint of spice. We also tried the crispy scallion pork bites. They looked a bit different from the photo (we expected scallions on top), but they were still super crispy and came with a dry rub that added great flavor. My boyfriend loves rice and meat, so this was the perfect spot for him. They also have a wide variety of other rice and meat dishes that I'd love to try next time. They're currently offering a VIP special for $20, you get discounts on all menu items plus one free clay pot rice, which you can use right away or save for later. It's definitely worth it--especially since something like the Buddha's Feast pot is $26, meaning you're essentially getting a free meal along with ongoing discounts. And the VIP is a lifetime subscription so you don't have to pay again. Not sure how long the promo will last, but it's a great deal if you plan on visiting more than once. The service is also really really good, they are super quick and nice. Always refilling our water and checking on us.

5 stars for the service more like 4.5 stars for the food. The ambiance and interior of the restaurant is super pretty. Rice and Flame is pretty new to the area and kind of lowkey still but the chinese locals know this spot for sure! They have amazing chinese clay pot rice dishes and the most popular pork belly dish was sold out for dinner. We got the traditional chicken and spicy mapo tofu. I like how the rice gets super crispy and definitely recommend the mushroom rice for the base. I think if we only got one dish it would've plain but both dishes together were great. The soup nothing really special, complimentary tea was nice and workers were constantly coming around to check up on the table which is super nice! but seriously look at the interior !! Restrooms were clean as well. Parking may be hard to find but you will eventually find it!

Tha ambiance and decor is full of wooden furnitures and lantern lights. Very relaxing and soothing. They are known for their clay pot rice. We ordered the Signature Braised Pork Belly Pot Rice. It was tasty, there were quail eggs inside and the braised pork was nicely marinated in small cubes. Not too heavy. The Imperial Buddha's Feast Pot Rice has a nice seafood sweet flavour to it. A little too much ricer though. Personally, I prefer more soup. The Abalone, Fish Maw, Sea Cucumber, Scallops, Squid, Chicken makes the rice so flavourful! The greens was not bad. The Crispy Boneless Yellow Croaker, you really need to dip or mix it with the spice to get the flavours out, otherwise the fish on its own tasted rather bland. The original rice ice cream was very tasty, not too sweet with some crunch topping and edible flowers. Tasted like a light mochi flavour ice cream! Very unique. I will come back to try other items! The service was nice and friendly.

Had the braised pork belly rice pot. Amazing and delicious. Will come back when I'm Scarborough

Beautiful decor and hospitable staff. You scan the qr code on the table to order and enjoy special member price by joining the membership for $20 but you will be able to get 1 free claypot rice with it. They serve Claypot rice which is flavorful in different flavors. The menu option is abit limited thou. We tried the Buddha feast Claypot rice which is not commonly seen. The rice is cooked soaked in the broth so it's on the softer side but at the bottom there's still abit of charred rice, making some part crispy. The hidden menu, golden broth pickled fish is more on the sour side and not overly salty so you are able to drink it, perfect for a cold day.

Went on a cold evening in Toronto. This seems like a fairly new place in Toronto. The atmosphere is very nice and welcoming. Lanterns on the top and a single washroom at the back. Overall , the service is very good and you can reserve your table online or in person. We order a few dishes to try out. Most of the dishes were pretty well done. The food is also affordable for many people. Hopefully they expand the menu in the future. Will return in the future. 4.5 stars overall.

The food here is very generous. We ordered the 4-person set with two side pots. Tomato Braised Beef Brisket and Chicken Stewed with Mushrooms and the portions were huge. Both pots arrived steaming hot and filled to the brim, clearly meant for sharing. The braised beef was rich and hearty, while the chicken pot was comforting and full of flavor, making it perfect for group dining or cold weather meals. Combined with the rustic, traditional décor, it really feels like authentic Northeast Chinese comfort food. The food and atmosphere were excellent, though the service was a bit lacking. EVERYTHING was great. I love the wrapper of each dumplings, each has own "wheat-y flavor" itself. Each dumpling wrapper hits a perfect thickness/thinness. And they were flawlessly/carefully cooked - boiled/steamed to achieve soft and chewy texture, pan fried to execute crispy, soft and chewy texture. The each filling hits perfect seasoning balance - and juicy! Delicious! B12 Crab XLB & P1 Pot stickers are the must-order items. If you don't know which dumpling to try, then I highly recommend D7 (Celery and Pork, boiled). Juicy with this refreshing crunchy celery texture and gentle grassy aroma. Full of juice! Careful :) N3 noodle was also tasty and generous. The noodle texture was chewy and had a nice bite. A LOT of meat pieces. Last but not the least - C11, black fungus was soooo refreshing. Every bite was enjoyable. Very mildly seasoned with vinegar based dressing and garlic, mixed with freshly chopped coriander. Simple and delicate, showing their culinary confidence. I will come back, I cannot wait to try other dumplings!
