The restaurant is very clean and bright. They don't have too many tables but people tend to not stay too long. We came on a weekday and were the first to be seated. I got their signature with soup on the side and the beef jerky was quite interesting. The pickled veggies flavour was strong so if you don't enjoy the pickled things maybe get a different noodle. The noodle itself was fine but overall I found the whole bowl to be a bit bland unless you had a pickled veg or a piece of beef in your bite.

The overall taste is not bad if you like a beef-jerky taste to the beef. The beef was very little and loaded with mi-fen on the bottom, which did not seem home made. There were a few other veges but overall it was just eating a ton of sub-par mi-fen. There are better mi-fen places out there.

One of my favorite type/style of noodle combinations. Hunan doesn't disappoint! Light round rice noodles (mi fen) which will not make you feel bloated after scarfing entire bowl. I ordered the Original beef brisket noodle and pork zacai, the meat was tender in both dishes and the pickled veggies very interesting in a good way. Two exceptional creations, spicy, sour, savory, tangy goodness with all sorts of textures all in one place. FYI you can pick your own spice level and each bowl allows free noodle refills should you wish. They do serve a soup which is served on the side but not needed at all imo. I went on a weekday at opening hours, it wasn't packed and was seated right away. Parking lot out in front. Yum!

This restaurant is located right opposite woodbine Costco, it was originally located on yonge and finch, but moved over roughly half a year ago. The portion of each bowl of noodle is 10/10, and if your the person that can eat more, DO NOT WORRY! They give you free noodles refill for NO COST! Noodles are great! Feels like its made fresh on the dot, super chewy (which i prefer). Fyi: if you can eat chicken feet, their side dish of garlic chicken feet is DELICIOUS! Go give it a try!

Signature Spicy Beef Double Up was pretty good. Both types of beef had a different texture & taste. Mustard Root Fried Pork in Hunan Style noodles were pretty good. Portions here are generous & the toppings are proportionate to the noodles (not like places which give a lot noodles but little toppings). Pork Feichang was Pork Intestines in Hunan Style, mixing coriander & special sauce. It was tasty & very tender. It was not as spicy as it looked. The soup was a generic clear broth: no loss if you skip it. It's better to get the noodles dry with the soup on the side. It is useful to cut the flavour of the noodles.

Was heading to Costco on a cold wintery day, decided to try Jin's Mifen based on previous Google review comments. Ordered their most popular Signature Beef Double up bowl and Black Fungus Fried Pork (pork bone & cuttlefish broth) bowl. Ordered via QR phone code. Staff very helpful as ordering process is a little confusing Can choose either flat or round noodles and spice level, soup on side or with noodles. Beef bowl was ordered medium spicy, my mouth was getting numb after eating 1/3 bowl. The pork fungus bowl was very good, slight cuddle fish notes could be enjoyed from the broth. Mandarin predominately spoken by staff and customers Both bowls had their own unique flavor points, different from the other Asian noodle/wonton joints, very satisfying

I heard such rave reviews about this authentic Hunan style mi fen (rice noodles) from friends and foodies. We came here for a work lunch and there was quite a wait for tables (so beware of lunch rush). I had the original braised beef brisket (dry) with round rice noodles. The method they recommend is eating the noodles dry with sauce and toppings, and then adding soup if you like or just having the soup on the side. The flavor of the noodles were salty and tangy but I couldn't really taste anything else. I tried the soup separately and it had virtually no flavor. The fried egg I ordered looked like it was once crispy but ended up sitting there and got cold. The noodles were also over cooked and soggy, not al dente. We also tried some of their side dishes: The pickled radish was terrible, the flavors were so off, it tasted like it had gone bad. The beancurd just tasted like tofu with sauce on it. I tried some of my friends noodle dishes and found that they all had different flavors that weren't described in the menu. I'll give them the benighted of the doubt that the reasoning was because they were too busy. Maybe after my carb-free diet I'll give them another chance but this wasn't a great experience.

As a noodle lover I had to give this place a try! I got the pork intestine noodle and the portion size is decent. The intestine is delicious! Their soup is tiny bit on the bland side so I added some extra chilli oil to add a bit more taste I also got their garlic chicken feet which was very flavourful and good! Would give other noodles a try!

Jin's Mi-Fen opened 4 months ago at this location in Markham after the Yonge Street location closed down. This restaurant specializes in Hunan style rice noodles served with marinated meats and vegetables which you can opt to have dry or more soupy. Jin's Mi-Fen claims that they do not use MSG and they pride themselves on their house made broth which is made using traditional recipes from 400 years ago. Each order comes with your choice of thin or thick rice noodles or wheat noodles. They also provide complimentary refills on the noodles. The restaurant is clean with seating for about 20 people at maximum capacity. We were the only ones dining in here on a Tuesday evening at 5:30pm but there were a few takeout orders in that span of time. The staff serving us was very friendly and helpful, and offered recommendations and descriptions for the dishes. We ordered the signature beef double up ($13.99). A broth was served on the side, and we were instructed that we could add the broth to our noodles bowl to our desired sauce /soup consistency. I would have preferred if the noodles had a bit more bite to them but the dish overall was flavourful, and generously portioned. We enjoyed the spicy beef with cilantro side dish, served cold in a spicy chili oil with peanuts. I enjoyed the crunch of the peanuts and the heat from the oil. I just wish there was a less oil in the dish. Looking forward to returning to try the braised beef with noodles and the braised tofu (which they were sold out of at the time of our visit). 3.75 stars.

    Bean sauce noodle dry

service was quick, I got the soup on the side and the broth had some umami flavor to it. The round noodle was soft and the bean sauce was tasty, a little spicy because there were chili peppers inside, noodle portion was huge but the meat portion was little. We got a few side dishes, the cold chicken was my favorite, the cucumber salad had a kick to it and I loved how there was peanuts inside! They gave us 2 containers of pickled radish which was great to take home and enjoy. The ambiance was nice and they only have a few tables available. Overall would recommend if you like noodles

    The Yum Report ..

Is not often that a recipe dates back 400 years, but it seems there's one you can try in Markham. Jin's Mi-Fen offers Hunan style rice noodle, making their soup base with no MSG or artificial condiments. Their signature dish is the beef double up, which included slices of beef loin and chewy beef jerky. We also tried their Hunan style zhacai fried pork, which was made with pickled mustard roots and fried pork strips. Both dishes can either come with the broth with the noodles or on the side - which we ordered both on the side. The sauce from the meat was where the flavours came from, but it was a bit oily for my preference. They also offer refill of the noodles, which is a positive. The food here is very generous. We ordered the 4-person set with two side pots. Tomato Braised Beef Brisket and Chicken Stewed with Mushrooms and the portions were huge. Both pots arrived steaming hot and filled to the brim, clearly meant for sharing. The braised beef was rich and hearty, while the chicken pot was comforting and full of flavor, making it perfect for group dining or cold weather meals. Combined with the rustic, traditional décor, it really feels like authentic Northeast Chinese comfort food. The food and atmosphere were excellent, though the service was a bit lacking. I was hoping to find something special on the menu. The Peking duck caught my eye at around $70, but then I discovered that almost everything else was extra--lettuce wraps, stir-fried duck meat, fried rice, and soup. By the time you add the extras, the bill is easily another $50 or more, bringing the total to well over $120. We decided to pass, and judging from the dishes we did order, that was probably the right decision. The hot and sour soup had plenty of heat and tang but lacked depth of flavor and was under-seasoned for my taste. Fortunately, we only ordered a small bowl. The deep-fried tofu was bland and forgettable. The stir-fried shrimp was acceptable but nothing special. The biggest disappointment was the sweet and sour pork. I specifically asked the server to make sure the pork was crispy, but it arrived soft and lumpy rather than light and crunchy. Even the complimentary red bean dessert soup was watery and lacked flavor. Our bill came to about $104 for two people. For the quality of the food, I didn't feel it offered good value. Sadly, after several disappointing visits, I don't think we'll be returning.

Plenty of seating for different sized groups, and the walls are lined with either wine, cuts of meat or tanks filled with various sea creatures. For dinner, we always have to order the lobster and steak combo. The steak has consistently been a flavourful medium rare (to our preference) and there is so much meat from these lobsters! I can't pick which way I like the lobster cooked more - steamed or wok fried.. both are delicious. For additional dishes, you can't go wrong with the short beef ribs and the pea shoots with king oyster mushrooms are a great option if you're trying to add veggies to a meat-heavy meal. The service staff are always on top of it. They are always coming around to make sure we have enough water at the table and food came out so quickly. I can't wait to come back again soon!

When we arrived, he insisted that we did not have a reservation even after we showed our confirmation, and, instead of apologizing for what appeared to be the restaurant's booking system error, he tried to lecture us about how certain reservation websites do not allow large-group bookings. Rather than taking responsibility or working professionally toward a solution, his attitude was rude, dismissive, and completely inappropriate. Fortunately, the lady working with him was kind, professional, and genuinely tried to explain the situation and find a way to accommodate us. She deserves recognition for her efforts. Our group was in town for an eight-day conference with more than 3,000 attendees. Because of this experience, this restaurant has unfortunately been added to the "not recommended" list for this annual event. When restaurants host business travelers, the way guests are treated matters just as much as the quality of the food. Unprofessional treatment of customers and business partners can damage relationships and cost businesses significant opportunities. To anyone considering this restaurant: the food is excellent, but if you're planning an important business dinner or any special occasion, be aware that the wrong interaction at the front desk could ruin your evening. Great food alone cannot make up for poor management and unprofessional customer service.

The lid on my shredded potato salad wasn't on properly and the sauce leaked through my Fantuan bag. The food gets five stars. Sadly, the lid on my potato salad wasn't securely on the container. I had my food in my insulated bag, so the sauce leaked into the Fantuan bag and my insulated bag. Luckily, my car was fine. As a result, my rating is four stars. I wanted to try a new eatery. I looked at my Fantuan app and noticed He Bei Chinese Cuisine. It had dumplings and snacks that I enjoy, so I said yes to placing a dinner order from this eatery. I ordered these items: - Pork and chive steamed dumplings (large has 14 dumplings) - Tea eggs - Shredded potato salad On Fantuan, when you purchase $15 worth of food, you get the shredded potato salad for a cent. Deal! After placing my order near my home, I drove over to this eatery. The drive was ten minutes. I was given an estimated time of fifteen minutes. It was ready in ten minutes. I had no problem finding this eatery. There was plenty of parking. I pulled into a spot and walked in. I saw the Yubu sign. My heart sank, as I loved the Korean tofu pockets from this joint. I liked seeing places to sit down and eat at He Bei. Nice! A woman behind the counter came over. I said that I had a Fantuan order. She talked to me in Mandarin. I don't understand it, but we were fine communicating with each other in our languages. She pointed out the blue Fantuan bag on the table behind me. I thanked her and wished her a nice day. She said thanks right back. I put my food in my insulated bag. With the leak, I managed to launder the Fantuan bag and clean my insulated bag. After I cleaned up, I had dinner at home. The food was amazing and filling! I loved the shredded potato salad. Sure, a lot of the sesame-soy sauce was gone. However, it tasted yummy. It was worth the cent! The steamed pork and chive dumplings were so good. I didn't dunk them in soy sauce. The filling had so much moisture that I felt like I was eating soup dumplings. The filling had yummy flavour and the dumplings were steamed to perfection. Excellent! You can buy frozen dumplings from this place. I'll need to do it. The tea eggs were the perfect snack while streaming hockey games. I peeled the shells off both of them. The eggs were cracked to allow the amazing soy-based sauce to marinate and get into the eggs. Delicious! I'm a fan. I'll take a closer look at the lids on my food next time. I'm glad that I put food in my insulated bag. It saved cleaning my car's upholstery! (59)

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

Wait list is old school...someone writes your name and number in a notebook and you are called when your table is ready.
