First off, I cant stand continuing education for anything. Second, I dont usually leave reviews for…read moreanything, even if it was a good experience because I dont like to waste time on small things; however, I have a four year old daughter that is ventilator dependent, and CPR, AED, Nursing and First Aid skills are supremely important in my house. I took the class expecting some refreshment of what I already knew, nothing new. Instead I got a crash course in how to save a life. Not only did Dr. Nyqui go over CPR for typical adults, but this guy stopped and took the time learn what each of the class members purpose of taking the class was and spoke to situations u were likely to encounter in your line of work. From Kids at home with a treach and ventilator, to a coworker in the office and your patient Ms. Hilda "grandma" Johnson at the restaurant. He gave us the skills and know how to know when and what to do to save a life in each situation. He also emphasized how important it was to assess the situation and surroundings and how to build a team with bystanders. I found this to be important because each task it takes to potentially save a life takes time and with situations that actually require CPR, time is of the essence. So delegation of responsibility. I am confident I now have the skills to save a life all on my own if I absolutely had to, and how to assess a situation and build a team to help maximize the chances to saving a life if I had to. Dr. Nyqui was excellent. He also had jokes. Dude kept me laughing and I'm a hard impress wit jokes. I had barely slept the night before and thought it was be hard to pay attention through the lecture. Be he was interactive and engaging. Encouraging questions. He made learning how to save my daughter's life in crunch time enjoyable. Not only would I recommend this class be taken by anyone in the medical field that deals with in home care, but anyone who deals with children in their profession or has kids of their own at home. There was so much information in this class that went beyond the scope of JUST CPR!!!! Thank you Dr. Nyqui!!!!

The staff are extremely friendly with a nice facility located on the Northwest end of the field. To add some perspective, you hear about 17 year old birthday checkrides, and 40 hour check rides, but not both. I came into UAA with absolutely no stick time and left as a flight school record holder with my checkride which was done on my 17th birthday @40 hours. This would not have been possible without my CFI/CFII Vishwa Ravichandran, who made this possible by going out of his way to customize a training regimen for me to make it happen. Extremely selfless yet knowledgeable individual who cares about teaching his students, and making each student better than the last passed checkride. My very first interaction with him was when he allowed me to borrow his headset when mine had an issue on my very second flight. He became my primary CFI immediately following this. My previous CFI, from the KEMT location, was inconsistent with scheduling and it felt as if I was acting as a passenger in the pilots seat as opposed to investing in a hands-on learning experience. Compare this Vishwa's constant attention to the little things, which are the reason why I passed my checkride at my age with such a low flight time. UAA's KPOC location offers a greater environment for students. My father obtained his rotor wing PPL at 68 hours at the KEMT location, and obviously myself at 40 at KPOC. I will let the hours speak for themselves. Great school with great people, highly recommend.

Patrick was very thorough, both on the ground and in the air. He got me current, got me safe and I again feel very comfortable flying safely solo and with family. Patrick went beyond just the bare minimum required by the FAA for a flight review which I appreciated. He was concerned about making aure I was safe and well prepared to return as a PIC, not just checking the minimum boxes listed by the FAA. We did all our work in one of the two C-172s at Global. They do have other aircraft types, but the C172 is what I know so stuck with that. Patrick has a very calm and relaxed approach to flight instruction. Nothing is rushed or pressured. His passion for flying and for teaching it to others is apparent. A very friendly guy pleasant to be around and an enthusiastic teacher. I was recommended to Patrick at Global by a commercial pilot friend who flies professionally. He had used previously Patrick to get through several of his ratings. The recommendation did not disappoint. Finding good flight instruction by an instructor in the business for instruction as a profession (not just building time or building ratings and moving to the next aviation job up the ladder) are rare. The Global facility provides a good venue for ground instruction with easy access from the north side of Brackett, and just steps away from the aircraft. Now that I am again current and flying on my own have had no problems scheduling a C-172 for rental when desired. Enjoying getting up and flying again! Appreciate the help Patrick provided getting me back up in the air and the access to rental C-172s.
