Both of my daughters attended Project THINK and I can't say enough about how unique this program is. My oldest daughter is now 22 and my youngest is 10. The program has the same value as it did many years ago when my oldest daughter attended. We have returned every summer. My oldest says that this was the one experience that really led to her success in college. It helped her think beyond the confines of our traditional education system. Everything they do there encourages creative thinking. Don't send your kids to a boring summer camp where their brains go on auto pilot all summer. Instead, invest in this program where your children will learn and expand their knowledge every day they attend. The staff is top-notch. They are some of the best educators in the area that relate well to the children. Many are excellent college students and others are the highest quality teachers who teach during the regular school year. There are so many activities that your children are guaranteed to avoid boredom. Not a program for young kids who are outside the box. Multiple transitions disrupt and overstimulate neurodiverse kiddos. While I believe there is the best of intentions, here is a lack of child development understanding/knowledge and age appropriate learning/expectations. I appreciate the goal and aim of this program but they fall seriously short when it comes to the current research and knowledge regarding young learners and teaching. read more

My 3 boys attended this camp last summer. We actually have quite a few friends who attended as children. I had them in the all day program. The morning focused on academics, but what my kids loved the most were the afternoon times. 2 of my boys did swim, and 1 chose the stem class where they designed robots. My daughter attended Project Think for 3 weeks during the second Summer 2023 Session. She did the half day program. They had a nice Family Night at the end so we could see the projects the kids had worked on, but my real issue was the complete lack of information leading up to and during the camp. There was an email newsletter that went out after the first week that went over some of the things the kids would be doing, but nothing else after that. There is also very little information on their website about what the kid's normal daily schedules look like or what educational topics they'll be covering, so when we sent her the first day we just kind of crossed our fingers and hoped it would work out. Our daughter attended the program for TK&K aged kids, so the info we got from her everyday was limited. The first day drop-off was chaotic because of this lack of information and even the staff on site did not appear to know what was going on, because they weren't able to tell us where we were supposed to line up or where the kids were supposed to put their things. This was the 2nd session (we didn't attend the first), so I was kind of surprised they hadn't locked this down after the 1st session. They also had the kids outside a lot in the heat, and my daughter complained about this a lot. Even during days with heat warnings, they were outside. I couldn't tell you for how long or what they were doing because that information was never really shared with us, but my daughter mentioned it a lot. They also had the kids put their lunches/snacks and backpacks in plastic totes that sat out in the sun all morning, and even though we packed snacks with double ice packs, the lunch bag was warm by pickup at around noon, so we switched to something that didn't need to be kept cool. The simple fix for this was to let the kids keep their things inside or move the totes to a shaded area, but over the course of 3 weeks this never happened. They did have a nice family night at the end of the session for us to see the projects the kids had been working on, but it felt very on brand for us to show up and not know where to go because there was no information with map that was provided to attendees on where to find the exhibits. My impression is that most people who enroll their kids may have attended as kids themselves, but this was our first impression of the program. My daughter liked the teachers and seemed to learn quite a bit during the session, but because information about what they were learning wasn't really shared with the parents, it was hard to engage with her at home about what she was doing or learning. It was all really kind of a surprise to see it all at the family night. At the end of the summer, I asked my daughter if she wanted to go back next year or maybe try something else and without hesitation she said lets try something else. Now that we've lowered the bar on our expectations, we may consider sending her again next year, but I hope they are a bit more organized and share more information with the parents. read more
