I like Wednesday's where there are student/teacher discounts. To my luck, I went on a spin the wheel day today! You get to spin the wheel after your purchase for an opportunity to win items or get a discount. I like browsing their toys, vintage items, and office supplies. I usually get very good second hand items such as staplers, hole punchers, DVDs, shoes, and board games. This location is actually my favorite place to shop for vintage film cameras (I'm afraid to post this because my fellow Yelp friends will be coming more to grab them before I do!). Today, I bought a good pocket minolta film camera, some stuffed animals, and some office supplies. The cashiers are sweethearts and are willing to help you look at items! The pricing was another thing that surprised me. A lot of the prices didn't really make sense for a thrift store and felt on the higher side compared to other spots I've visited. The atmosphere was just missing something. No cool decor, no personality, and overall the vibe wasn't there for me. It feels like it caters more to an older crowd, which is totally fine, but just not my style of thrifting. During my senior year of high school I was the president of Upland High School's Key Club and I was…read morehonored to join in on some of the Upland Foothill Kiwanis Meetings. Amongst the many breakfasts I intruded on, this special breakfast meeting at OPARC really opened my eyes about the world around us. OPARC (Ontario Pomona Association for Retarded Citizens) is a nonprofit organization centralized in the IE (Inland Empire) created to help those with disabilities and their families. We were given a tour of the facilities and we were able to see how OPARC was able to put these people into different programs (depending on their situation). They have a "variety of programs for people with Down Syndrome, epilepsy, autism, cerebral palsy, and mental retardation" (oparc.org). One thing that I still remember to this day is when we entered a room where all they did was putting an item into the plastic packaging and sealing it up. The faculty member at OPARC explained that these simple activities are so simple and easy that an average person would probably be unwilling to do it, especially for less than minimum wage. OPARC takes those simple tasks and with government aid, they are able to pay these disabled workers a lesser pay doing these simply BUT USEFUL and necessary work to contribute to society and to give these people meaning to their lives. That is just one of many examples of the things that OPARC does to help those with disabilities. Their mission statement is: "Enabling People with Disabilities to Achieve Their Full Potential" and this is such a valiant cause!! People with disabilities deserve every right to be emotionally fulfilled with their lives and OPARC is doing a wonderful job helping them with that despite the setbacks they are forced to face. If you're ever looking for somewhere to donate to, this is a great cause! Or maybe just do some research about it and be less ignorant about the world around us :)

Their mission is to support incarcerated people nationwide by sending them books. The book shop also has notebooks, stickers, jewelries, bookmarks, and greeting cards. It was very organized and clean. Tte staff were very nice. For book lovers, you can find a great variety of genres. For example; thriller and mystery , history, Poetry, religions, Philosophy , Fiction , romance, fantasy, Sci-fi, comics, classics, social studies, Wellness, parenting, kids, business, cultural studies and more. It's a nice Bookshop to go to support a good cause.

There's a set of steps with pillows on each step with a block of about six outlets beside them, and a really comfy, sinky couch (plus an ottoman and two comfy looking armchairs and a big table in the middle) with a set of two outlets on the wall and a star shaped power strip sticking out of the ground with six outlets coming out of it. There are also regular tables and it seems like there are outlets beside them as well. WIFI: The wifi is open (no password necessary), even though they have a password listed where you pick up your food (it's just Sanctuary Coffee). I tried to use one of the locked ones (the only one that made sense), but the wifi password didn't work, so I'm not sure why they have one listed. Regardless, albeit not the fastest wifi I've ever used, it's incredibly doable. I have been working remote here for 1.5 hrs and had almost no issues. MENU: For LA, relatively cheap. I am not a coffee or tea drinker, so I got the peach Italian soda, which was yummy. I believe it was about $4.89, which is not bad at all. I went to And Destroy in the Highland Park-ish area, and I believe an Italian soda with cream (cream is free here) was maybe $7-8. I'm used to paying more for drinks because the specialty (non coffee and tea) drinks are usually pricey, but this was one of the cheapest things on the menu. Also, you can claim a free pastry with your email and first name on their website (it sends you a voucher, just show the email). I got the banana bread, which was fine. I would've gotten zucchini, but it wasn't chocolate chip zucchini. ATMOSPHERE: Not too loud, the music is nice and chill and not very loud. There's cute art on the walls and homey looking lamps. It's the quintessential living room coffee shop, perhaps even rivaling Republik Coffee in Burbank in comfiness, noise level, aesthetic, and price (which is a bummer, because I likely will never be back - we just happened to be in North Pomona today, and I have no idea when we'd ever elect to drive this far again LOL).
