Love this place! I brought my rat terrier mix here yesterday for her first time. I recieved an email during the day to let me know how she was doing and a report card when I picked her up that included potty information and who she played with. They really care about your dog here. They even post pictures and videos of the dogs playing on facebook which I couldn't wait to share with everyone! Nell can't wait for her next visit!!! read more

Wendy and Dennis, from D.o.g. Dog Obedience Group offer group obedience classes at Rex's place. They are top notch trainers who adapt training to fit your dogs individual needs. I was concerned my dog wouldn't do well in a group and they did everything they could to help her succeed so we could remain in the group class read more

We started bringing our dog to Rex's Place for obedience training in mid-2011 and immediately fell in love. The staff are friendly and take a genuine interest in the well-being if our dog. The report card after every visit almost always gets a smile. read more

I am happy to write that I am very happy with Rex's Place. Our dog Millie is very excited to go play her friends there once or twice a week. Kathy and her staff have been great and I feel very lucky we found them. I didn't think I could replace our doggie daycare in the city, but I am very pleased to share that they are equally great. It is obvious they really care about the dogs that come to their business. read more

We have been bringing our dog to Rex's place since he was a pup. The staff is incredibly friendly and takes great care of our dog. Our dog shakes with excitement when he is in the car on the way to daycare and is thoroughly exhausted when he comes home, a true sign of a great day. Our dog is like our third child and we are very selective about who we allow to care for him and we can say with no reservations that Rex's place is a great environment for him to be during the week. read more

I love Rex's Place. Not only do I get a report card with a check off list of my dog's behavior and poop production activities. Dog parents want to know that stuff. I also get a report of who their friends were and if they were naughty or nice. What I like about the Rex's Place is that they are serious about cleanliness and making sure that my dog is safe. There's lots of space for them to run around. I also get to see photos of the group of dogs playing that day on Facebook. I Love Rex's Place...Safe, Clean and a great place to have my dog socialize and be supervised when I can't be there. read more

This is by far the WORST dog facility I have ever worked with. They can't keep schedules straight and can't be relied on to pick up or drop off your dogs when promised. My dogs regularly came back with weepy eyes and colds. Do not take your dogs here. read more

Our Bentley has loved Rex's day camp. He could not be happier there. But when we needed a last minute overnight stay Rex's came to the rescue! We had a 3 night Kennel stay. Rex's took great care of Bentley from foods to meds. It's so clean and inviting. They toured me around and made sure all of our needs as well as our puppy's needs were met. I highly recommend Rex's day and night! read more

This is where to take your dogs for fun socialization, exercise, loving attention, and reliable, conscientious overnight boarding! Our dog Lily is a sweetie but after being attacked in a dog park, she became defensive and with little provocation, could be aggressive towards other dogs while out walking. The thought of sending her to day care or boarding her seemed like an absolute non starter. We talked through our concerns with Kathy the owner of Rex's Place and we decided to give it a try. And Lily loved Rex's Day Care! She's once again become the social animal she used to be and it is so much more pleasant going for walks when you don't have to worry that your dog might be aggressive to other dogs encountered along the way. When we had to go out of town, we boarded her at Rex's and she was so well taken care of and so happy. It was so obvious when we retrieved her, she was excited to see us but not hysterical - like she was when we'd left her in the past with our local "dog lady." When we got home she was calm and happy and didn't exhibit any needy behaviors (like following us from room to room) that we'd seen in the past, which was likely due to lack of attention. It was definitely a great experience for all of us and we know now that whenever we need to get out of town, we can do so with the peace of mind that comes with knowing our pup will be well-tended and cared for. A special shout out to Kathy & Josh for all the TLC they extended to Lily. read more

This is a first for me... I never give a 5 star review, but I don't have a 4.5 option. Rex's Place is too special to give 4 stars! The owner and staff know and love dogs! The daycare is huge, with 3 big rooms with different flooring for the rough and tumble or the dainty/delicate. Dogs are grouped by size and temperaments. There is even a chill area. Boarding is great too! They are never left alone at night and watched by a nanny cam. The staff sleeps there and the pups sleep on couches, cots, dog beds or the floor if they choose. The outside area is pup friendly, with benches, a sand box, hills and pools in the summer. Who wouldn't want to spend time there?! I understand some pet parents have a different experiences, but when a place is run by humans and not God, it can't be perfect. They really try to make a pup and their parents happy with their day. Definitely happy with Rex's Place. read more

I recently heard about Rex's Place and began bringing my dog, Murphy. The owner, Cathy is great and her staff is awesome. They really care about and love the dogs in daycare! It's great to see the pictures on photo bucket so you get a real sense of what they do during the day. My very tired dog is all the proof I need to know that it's great sending him for daycare. You won't go wrong bringing your pet there!! read more

I've been sending my dog Winston to Rex's for over a year now and I'm always amazed by how nice the staff is to me and my dog. My dog rushes in each time he knows we are going to Rex's which is a very good sign that he has the best time there. I also love that he is tired when he comes home after a full day of play. The owner Cathy does a wonderful job making sure that my dog gets a ton of love and support. Plus her staff are truly devoted to each of the animals. The place is very clean and my dog comes home smelling nice. Rex's place is one of the best aspects about living in Evanston and I highly recommend it to all my friends with dogs. read more

I bring my puppy to Rex's Place for the socialization and play time they offer him. Everyone is always friendly when I arrive, knows my dog well, and confirms plans for the day with me. The staff takes such good care of him and he is always so happy to go see his friends! I have been so glad to find a place I can take my dog where I know he will have fun, be safe, and be well taken care of! read more

My dog loves this place. I am never a fan of doggie daycare places- they smell, are load, and just seem gross. But this place (it is loud when you go in) is better than the average day care place. When the weather is good they have an outdoor lot to play in. My dog loves going here- he is a 70# labradoodle who is a total spaz. The staff are incredibly friendly and know my dog by name. I am impressed when I come in after not taking my dog for a month and they still know who he is. The owner seems very involved and aware about her place and cares about he 4 legged customers and their owners. read more

When we decided to send our dog to day care, we researched numerous places throughout the North Shore. Rex's is the best we found and we have been completely happy with our decision. The best aspect of Rex's Place is that the owner, Kathy, cares for your dog as if your pet were her own. She demonstrates such kindness and caring for the dogs and I am happy to leave my dog in her care because I know that my dog is well provided for. Kathy has emailed me during the day to say how my dog was doing and posts pictures every evening for a virtual 'report card' on the days events. One weekend, my dog cut her paw on a rock at the dog beach. Kathy called my husband to say that she noticed the cut on the and they were monitoring it throughout the day. During nap time, one of the staff members even sat with my dog and gave her a massage to help her feel better. That type of attention and concern for the well-being of the dogs is something that is a rare find at dog day cares. The facilities at Rex's are excellent. There are two large rooms; 1 for large dogs and 1 for small dogs. Each dog is walked individually 4 times a day outside. There also is an area that is currently under renovation that will be the outside pool and recreation area. Overall, Rex's place is a wonderful day care that provides exception, loving care for dogs. read more

I have never had such a poor experience in my life! My dog had been going to Rex's for several months and seemed to be doing fine. All of a sudden she starts coming home injured! I realize that dogs will play but the injuries were so severe that we ended up at the vets office. This happened on several occasions & I still have all the vet bills to prove it. The last time she went to Rex's was the straw that broke the camels back. I went to pick her up and the young lady told me my dog had a "small scrape under her eye but they cleaned it. " My dog actually had a 1inch cut under her eye that required stitches!!! Needless to say we decided to not continue going to Rex's place. I have contacted Kathy several times on their website asking for a refund of the 12 unused visit that we paid for. One month later she responded back to us saying that we would get a partial refund. We never received any sort of reimbursement for the remainder of the visits. If you love your precious dog as much as I do keep him/her far away from this place. Poorly staffed and blatant mismanagement is no way to run a business. Kathy - you should be ashamed of yourself! read more

Kathy and her staff are the greatest! We had one dog going to Rex's named Shep and he loved going to play with his friends and would come home absolutely exhausted. Then we rescued a puppy and she was a bit anxious, but everyone at Rex's knew I was almost as nervous as my Poppy and they were able to give her extra attention and worked to transition her into the pack, so now she loves Rex's as much as her brother! Kathy is very involved in her business and cares about her dog customers as much as her people customers! She treats us like family, it doesn't get better than that! read more

We've been bring our terrier mix Coby to Rex's Place once or twice a week for a little over a year and he loves it. From his first day it was obvious Kathy and her staff treat your dog as one of their own. As their business began to grow I was worried that the personal care and attention for each dog might lessen, but the opposite has happened. Kathy has hired many new staff members to accommodate their growing business. Their facility is large and extremely clean! I would recommend Rex's Place to any dog owner on the Northshore! read more

My 25 lb. rat terrier love's Rex's Place. It's his home away from home where he can play with lots of dogs and be doted on by all the staff. He goes straight from the car to the door and expects it to swing open for him. Overnight stays have been a joy because he won't be kenneled 24/7. Playtimes (inside and out) and regular staff and his own food makes me relaxed when I need to be away. My dog recognizes and greets staff when he sees them elsewhere in Evanston. Thanks, Kathy (and all of your staff). read more

Beware. Kathy doesn't have an accounting system. I gave her my credit card and she was sighted for fraudulent charges. She charged multiple packages for my dog 3-4 times each month. When I spoke to her about it she denied it however, that same day three more were charged. I asked her to shred my card and the bank found more charges that day. I gave Dylan 3 checks (after telling Kathy never to use my credit card again) and Kathy cashed these checks and then denied seeing them. I'm now waiting for the bank and credit cards to handle reimburse me because she denies it all. Dylan agreed she was at fault because he keeps count of my dogs attendance, but she couldn't even show me the records (I presume she doesn't have any for my dog). She said the reimbursement check is in the mail but that was three days ago. As much as my dog loves to play, it's unacceptable that Kathy used my credit card and couldn't (or wouldn't) believe me or (or the bank and credit card statement) or her staff member. She told us never to come back because I wanted an accounting of my records. Something is not right and I'd suggest anyone who goes to Rex's pay cash by the day. Negative rating for non transparent accounting and the extra charges and stress she caused us. read more

Love this place! My 6 month old golden goes for occasional 1/2 day visits for play time & socializing. She comes home happy & exhausted. The staff are all super friendly and very conscientious with the dogs. They go out of their way to make their customers (both the dogs and their owners) happy. A great place to take your dog! read more

We have been taking our 8 month puppy Bella to Rex's place for day care since she was 4 months old... she LOVES it! We have tried other day care's but Bella's choice is clearly Rex's... The staff are always friendly and pleasant and it is impressive that every time I come they are constantly cleaning. Thanks! read more

This place is terrible. I've witnessed dogs being handled in an uncaring manner, being yelled at in a complete unnecessary way. Also, noticed one of the workers kicking rocks at dogs. I've brought my dog here once, brought him home and my poor baby was acting very strange when we got home. I will NEVER go here again. Everyone should avoid this place!!!!! read more

Rex's Place is the greatest. The owner, Kathy, left her career in human resources to start Rex's, and we are all the better for it. I found Rex's when i enrolled my dog in a puppy training class and it was held there. I have owned dogs all my life but had never thought about day care. I take my goldendoodle there once or twice a week, and as soon as he realizes that he is going to Rex's, he can barely contain his excitement. When I pick him up, I get a personalized report card, describing his "output" for the day, whether he napped, who he played with, his general mood, and any other info that the staff thinks I should know. Then he comes home and collapses, because he is so tired from playing all day! Kathy requires that each owner fill out a very comprehensive questionnaire, and that the dog be immunized and neutered after 6-7 months of age. On the first day, she observes the dog to make sure he has the personality to do well socially. There is a huge indoor and outdoor area, and the little dogs and big dogs have separate areas, plus the staff walks them on leashes through the neighborhood throughout the day. Kathy has recently added overnite care during specific vacation times (I haven't used that yet), where the dogs are never crated and there is always a staff person with them. She also holds occasional playtime on weekends, where for a small fee, the owners and dogs can use the facilities, which is especially great when the weather is terrible. Check out the Facebook page to see mini videos and photos of the dogs playing, and you can really sense how great Rex's Place is and how much the staff cares for their charges. read more
